For those of you who question the accuracy of this, the information was taken from a government site that is responsible for tracking unemployment on a county-by-county basis. It has not been distorted to achieve some political agenda; it represents the facts. My personal experience bears this out--many more of my acquantainces are unemployed now than they were 3 years ago. So remain blind if you want--that's your problem, but those with open eyes see it.

I live in SE Kansas, our unemployment rate has been over 7%, even over 10% for the past 2 years.

Obama Stimulus!!! What a joke!!! I can't take anymore increases in taxes, health care premiums.

I support a household of 10, this includes 6 members who have no luck finding substantial income to break out on their own.

This is simply a graphic progression of where all those looking for work live. Please do your homework.

Dramatic indeed, but using similar hues from 6% to 10% makes it very difficult to differentiate those areas. Also, many counties are over 15% but are not represented as distinct economic disaster areas.

@systemerror11, First, don't assume because I can interpret a graph, I am a man. And the switch is exactly my point. When one read the graph, a jump in color means 1% up until that point. But what could still only be 1% in a jump to the purple is now read as up to 3%. THAT is the skew. Yes, you have a point that it could be seen that way by someone who doesn't take the time to read the key (apparently everyone else here), but the key is the skew. This is why world views based on TV match are bad

@duiker22 Sir, your math is reversed. Since the last color change is a 3% change while the others are 1% changes, this means that the purple you speak of shows the jobless rate growing 3 times faster compared to the other colors.

It actually makes the graphic underestimate the severity by 300%.
