no couldn't be there for the carnival this year. The ramp was eventually removed because the beach has got deeper by several feet and also "wider". They did raise the ramp by more than a metre many years ago but even that was not enough. The latest lifeboats are a different shape and design and are launched from a cradle. hence the new building to house it. Not so interesting a launch though!
People are still able to get fairly close and still do for launches

shame events like this are less frequent these days. U see when the LB was being launched, these days noone would be allowed anywere near it! like half a mile away these days because of 'health and safety' such a shame things are how they are in this pathetic modern day of society.
