  • epic epic

  • Wish game music today was made like this :c

  • God Times, Good titimes I played for years of this game. I remember again the time when i was a kid.

  • Finaly 47,739 play Total Annihilation :) (and how do you get the music to work on the game it doesnt work on mine i got the game in 2001 in big lots for 6$ help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

  • @MrletsplayerMan not sure what's going on with your machine, but I know that if you put the game disc into a CD player it will play :)

  • You send your Commander to capture the Galactic Gate...

    ...

    he still there, capturing it...

    ...

Then you lose your patience and press ++++++++++++++++++++ =D

  • For some reason i cant play any videos on this channel on my phone?? Works fine on pc tho, annoying! :(

  • I wanna play this game again!

  • omg..i wanna play this music...=)

  • How Jeremy Soule can go from this to the shitty Elder Scrolls music is beyond me

  • @WarbossGorgutz Elder Scrolls music is not shitty you turd

  • Man the inspiration was just pouring out of Jeremy Soule back in these days...

  • this song doesn't need comments

  • If you want to play Total Annihilation or any of the popular mods, there is a universal custom installer, search for "Total Annihilation Ultimate Custom Installer" on the pirate bay or any other torrent sites.

  • Im not a strategy game fan but this and Cossacs were the best!

  • That xylophone is surprisingly fitting and even compliments the music quite well.

  • This song can make typing in my comment seem epic. It really is that good.

  • found it! :)

  • good old times

best music a game can have

  • SO MUCH MEMORIES I COULD CRY :P!!!

  • Funny you say that... in my opinion the best thing about this game was flash spamming the people who sat back and built multiple nuke silos right from the get go. YOUR WIND TURBINES ARE FOOD FOR MY FLASHES.

Anyone remember in the TA lobbys the rules like "no air, no emg, bt 10 mins"?

    :P

  • best thing abouth this game (TA) was building multiple nuke silos, build lots of A-bombs and then shift-queue them all onto the enemy base, sit back and watch the fireworks

  • only if ta 2 came out and not supcom sad face :(

  • @xdiexmanx I don't get it, SupCom is, more or less, TA2.

  • @MegaKilt it is not it is a different game altogether the plot units balince all the good stuff and not as epic music ummmm and well different produsers different team that made it not the same game at all

  • @xdiexmanx I guess you're right about the plot. It's "same same but different" I guess.

But if you'd have to name a sucessor och sequel to TA it's undoubtedly SupCom, right?

  • @xdiexmanx BUT, many of the former Cavdog employees joined Gas Powered Games and it's still a Chris Taylor game.

  • @MegaKilt i dont care well i played supcom 2 it sucked but one idk ill play it and use the mod to lisen to ta music :D we are all happy

  • @xdiexmanx SupCom 2 was a major disappointment, I agree. I blame Square Enix!

  • @MegaKilt mega sad faces :( :( :( :(

  • Jeremy Soule, i salute you sir! In another life you were JS Bach or Mozart!

  • Listening to this music fills my blood with epic and makes me fire antimatter.

  • from what i have read (wikipedia) Jeremy Soule suggested that an orchestral score be added instead of the techno music in most RPG games out at the time like Star Craft and such. Although AOE while nothing in comparison to the rousing power of this music had a decent score similar in musical nature.

  • @iamborat100 >RPG games

    >StarCraft

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OH WOW

  • Que mal lo pasaba aquí controlando que todo el ataque iba bien ahaha

  • @dracusLOLdracus

127 people played TA before WOW (and played TA again after getting bored of WOW)

  • I always sighed when this epic WONDERFUL music kicked off for the slightest reason...like when a little scoutplane was shout down by one of my sentries...shouldn't complain though, this is some awesome stuff!

  • I keep catching myself humming the riff to this constantly, and I havent played in years "hmm hmm.. hm-hm--Hm-hm--HMM HMM..."

  • SC, not as in Starcraft, but as in Supreme Commander - Soule did not do the music for Starcraft.

  • @facher83 Starcraft is SC

    Supreme Commander is Supcom

    Total Annihilation is TA

  • @facher83 Starcraft came before Sup Comm so it got that abbreviation before that game was released,

it's like making a game with world of warcrafts abbreviation but it is STILL not WoW even if it got that abbreviation -.-'

  • Musical genius. Gaming phenomenon.

  • We played something so close to this at tri-state honors band. Im proud!

  • madonna che roba... AMAZING!

  • gives me goose bumps every where

  • 0 People plays World of Warcraft (??)

  • Fucking Masterpieces.... just fucking, epic, godlike, eden-like masterpieces...

  • what a master peice this is, ooo weeee!

  • supreme commander and total annihilation are both great games

  • Much better than Brutal Battle but if he didn't repeat the same thing over and over again, he could have truly had an epic piece by combining both songs.

  • The Brawlers are coming! The Brawlers are coming!

Top rate game and music this is.

  • This is by far my favorite song from Jeremy Soule.

  • Best Of!!

  • Omg the percussion at 0:46 is just genious! And the horns its just amazing

  • @DavidOnBass yea. nice combo there!

  • IF YOU STILL HAVE YOUR TA DISCS PUT THEM IN THE CD PLAYER, SKIP TRACK 1, AND ENJOY.

  • The music in this game was so incredibly strong and inspiring. The soundtrack has stuck with me above all other games and interactive media as being in a class of its own.

  • I honestly think this is the best song in the game!! SO EPIC WHEN THERES A FIGHT SCENE AND THIS MUSIC IS PLAYING!!!!

  • @MyFatty69 yes it will work, i just installed it the other day. I have been playing it on my old laptop for a couple of years now, so i just randomly decided to see if it would work on my pc that i had bought about a year ago which has vista installed on it. And i am so happy now because it runs quite a bit smoother, and theres way less lag. Because usually when im fighting and theres like so much shooting goind on it starts to lag like hell but it doesnt do that anymore :D

  • Ah, the Northwest Symphony Orchestra.

  • @MrThreadSpool Wasn't the TA soundtrack done by the Moscow Orchestra?

  • guys!!! i still have the orignal cd's will ta work on vista i dont wnat to install it because i dont want to get upset due to OS not likeing TA will it or will it not work??? and yes best rts still to date it totaly destroys SC this is way more balanced

  • That xylophone part is fucking incredible.

  • TA= AVATAR

SC= Attack of the killer tomatoes

  • For me still the best game soundtrack ever!

  • Fukin (t)a

  • John Williams owned

  • right down to the 'TA' lol

  • Does music get more epic??????????

  • @ChaseKittens I doubt it. This is about as epic as it gets. This particular track I always associate with the huge naval battles I'd get in to in TA... big battleships steaming off in the distance, massive guns coming to bear on their targets... fuck, I'm going to have to go play a round or two when I get home!

  • @ChaseKittens Dungeon SIege??? Although it was music from the same composer as TA ^^

  • 0:27 to 0:33

  • TA, Xwing Alliance, Red Alert. An odd game of Dark Reign...everything a growing boy needed haha.

Also had this game called 'Wargasm' but i was too young to understand the innuendo.

  • ...

    Are you me?

  • @SonicSidewinder

Sounds scarily like my childhood, down to the t...

  • this is better than 90% of all the films scores i have. What happened to this guy?

    Classic game btw.

  • Jeremy Soule, maaany OSTs under his belt.

  • The guy is called Jeremy Soule. I have to agree that the TotalA score is one of the best game score there is.

  • Well he made the music for neverwinter nights, guild wars and the elder scroll games. I consider those scores extremely good as well.

  • I usually play this when I've got Krogoths marching into the enemy base...

  • TA and Tie Fighter for PC were the best games ive played. And im 25 now. Ahhhh my Youth... What awesome games. They just dont make them like that anymore!

  • I sense fail.

  • I agree, only stupid un-original games like cod come out these days >:C

  • One of the best games I've played for many years, with all the addons and extras.

  • TA had the best music I've ever seen in a game. I was really disappointed that Soule's work in SC wasn't this inspiring.

  • Give him some credit... it's hard to top TA... sometimes composers have these 'great pieces' they've kept for years, and finally get a project to work on (TA) and the quality of works is impressively wide spread. In other words, TA was (I think) his first war music game, and had time to write plenty of war music on paper.

A game like SC, he has less time, and less inspiration already built up.

  • @facher83 Yeah I've noticed that more older you become, less inspiration you have. And this seems to work on every people. I never have understood why this happens :/ I guess there's just something in this world that kills our souls so we can't think of anything creative. If you have ever found these "intelligence tests" from the internet there's some tests made to kindergarten children and adults and it seems children get better results from the tests that need creative thinking.

  • @facher83 Or starcraft just wasnt as good and blizzard has a history of not quite being good to employees :p

  • @Taliesyn42 Your a harsh taskmaster! :)

The music in SC1 was fine however, but TA's music was sublime, I dont think there'll ever be a soundtrack as good, and least when you look at the quantity of amazing tracks in TA.

  • @Taliesyn42 heard in a game*

  • @Taliesyn42 he didn't make the music for starcraft...

  • @CptNorstedt Supreme Commander

  • @Taliesyn42 SC isn't supreme commander... normal misstake to think that way, SC is short for starcraft, Supreme commander got the abbreviation Sup comm.

  • @CptNorstedt So you're telling me what I was thinking when I made that post over a year ago? That is a little arrogant, don't you think? Especially considering that that post was part of a discussion on the music in Total Annihilation vs the music in Supreme Commander, if I recall correctly.

  • @Taliesyn42 That CptNorstedt is a bit of a jackass.

  • @CptNorstedt

I never played SC. tried and it sucks big time. Dunno why I just doesnt feel right when i play it., maybe something about some micro tactics or whatever. Thus SC stands for Supreme Commander for me.

  • @Morthaliar

I always refer to Supreme Commander as "SupCom".

  • @Morthaliar sc is actualy very cool when it comes to single player campaign ... but multi ? meh i´m not intrested in rapidklickingcontests ... supcom is just right ^^

don´t remember TA though ... played it only ones

  • @MrTBSC If you think StarCraft is a rapid clicking contest, you don't know shit about StarCraft. You can't get good at StarCraft by "clicking rapdily"

  • @vOddy75

Face it man, to be any good at it you have to go into a state of RSI inducing uninterrupted clicking. Most players never get past just the mechanical requirements of playing before any hard choices pop up.

  • @Chinomareno You have to be fast, and you have to be smart. Yes, that's the truth.

  • Ultimate strategy, build aircraft plant, make transport, pick up enemy commander, and self destruct.

Or to mess with someone I always enjoyed stealing a construction vehicle or kbot and captured it. I was so fun having both sides under my command.

  • agreed, that was the best, hijacking enemy tech.

  • It takes a lot of hands to count in fingers the hours ive wasted doing that.

  • supreme commander sucked ass

  • I think it was brilliant. It had all of the things that made TA good, but with some extras, and with a few of the gameplay flaws, like pathfinding, small-scale battles, and resource slowldown dealt with in a more effective manner.

  • the build system was far more streamlined, and they finally fixed transport units. FINALLY, they dont just sit around and get in the way after they drop their payload. I use air transports for everything in TA and it takes an inordinate amount of micromanaging, so I was glad to see SupCom fixed it. Still doesnt excuse the abysmal performance even on high-end machines. Dont play it at all because of this. TA forever :)

  • EPIC

  • It's the Credit's Music,

    Thanks ultddave !

  • that song is my favorite i wan play tl

  • they need to bring this game back

  • I think they boobed up big time with TA Kingdoms, even though I liked the game I know it didn't bring them much cash. Final nail was making an expansion for it that did even worse.

  • Amazing and untopped.

  • Hey Ptrr, you asked for a link, just type gamespy top rts into google and it's the top link. Happy pwning!

  • Great, thanks.

  • most underrated game and soundtrack EVER!!!!!!!

  • Underrated? This is gamespys number one stratagy game of all time.

  • hahah pwned

  • do you have a link to that? i want to pwn a friend who thinks it sucks even though he has never played it and is a dickhead

  • I read it, and I thought it was a 1999 game, but 1997 is just sick. This game has graphics that could've easily been 2000 and a general gameplay that dates beyond that. So bizarre :O

  • Well Cave dogs did have a great team until they started TA: Kingdoms... They should of just made TA 2 instead.

  • Yeah. Supreme Commander to me lacks a lot of feeling TA had. It feels more like a tactics simulator or something. It's a good game, and very balanced, but it doesn't come close to TA.

  • it has a commander as your starting unit whos just as powerful right?

  • It's more progressive. You start out as a strong unit vs t1 (first tier) units. You need about 20 t1 units to destroy a commander. There are 3 tiers, however, and you only need like 5 t2 and 2 t3 units to kill the basic commander.

But the commander is upgradeable. You can get stronger attacks, better buildings, armor, missiles, radar, teleport and for the Cybran even a cloak and a microwave laser, which is just goddamn awesome.

  • BUT IS THERE A D-GUN

  • NO!!!!11

No, there's an awesome mazer and an overcharge thing, but it's not nearly as awesome...

  • No D-GUN?

    WHAT!!!???

    NOOOOOOOOOOO

  • The creators of TA got together again and formed "Gas Powered Games" which is the company that created "Supreme Commander" its similar gameplay but it has alot more advanced playing that you have to consider too.

  • loads of bitch moves too. like if ure playing in anihilation mode, u can teleport ure commander and blow it up at enemy base

  • you know, you could get through the campaign in Vanilla TA by suiciding your own commander^^

  • But you get some sort of a thumb down before this mission name, if I am right?

  • oh nm then

  • No, I agree. It's not underrated quality wise, anyone who plays this game agrees it's so good and for a 1997 game, it's still the most revolutionary game ever, extremely ahead of it's time.

But sales wise? Cavedog couldn't even pull a sequal! They sold the rights to THQ or GPG or whatever.

  • Nah they never sold the rights since GPG couldn't release a TA 2 even after Chris Taylor kept trying to get the rights to make a 2nd.

So Supcom could of been TA 2 and likly would of been just as fun. But Cavedog never allowed him to forcing him to make a new game thats similiar.

Although I dont see why they cant start making TA2 next year since the copyright would no longer apply (Would of run out since last I saw it was updates in 1999 and lasts 10 years)

  • I thought it said "Total Annihilation" on the box... I don't have it here, I lend it to a friend, but I'll check some other time :)

Cavedog still exists? Or just the license?

  • Nah Cavedog disbanded after lack of funds (spend too much on TA: Kingdoms development). The rights where orginally sold to a japness compony in 1999/2000 who wanted to make a TA 2 but it was cancelled due to lack of funding.

So this means GPG (Chris Taylor) has to wait anoter year or so before he can make a 'TA 2' since the copyright should of expired by then.

  • I hope it beats Supreme Commander. Chris Taylor to me is a very unstable game creator, shifting between marketing and design. DS2 was a failure, DS1 wasn't a failure, but was a really dumb game which could be played through using the mouse only to move.

TA was brilliant, SC was okay but was taken off support very quickly and had about 300 people playing it on line. Nice people though.

So here's hoping he gets TA2 really nicely.

  • Play Ta Spring..... its the follower :D

  • Yea I heard about it. It just seems like TA only in 3d though... does it add more?

  • Mods mods mods mods mods.

  • yes they did had a sequal; total annihilation: kingdoms....

  • wasn't nearly the same though.

  • no.

  • total is a old game but is one of my preferedd CORE ROCKS^^

  • Core sucks. My user name back then was ARM4EVA!

  • you where not part of armx on gamespot where u :D

my name on gamespot back i nthe day was

    ARMX-Lordchaos100

  • Wow it was so long ago! I just did the boneyards back in the day. I was ARM4EVA. I dont think i did game spot back then.

  • all these sound epic

  • I haven't played this game in years, yet when I hear this song I still get chills down my spine.

  • hey, Hey, HEY! This stuff is beyond epic. It's in it's own category of epic! Glad I own this soundtrack again :D

BTW, if anyone wants this music I'll be happy (somewhat) to A.) link you the music or B.) send ja the music. Yay TA and yay me!

  • Best RTS soundtrack EVER!!!!!! I don't they can make another one even similar to the quality and gameplay impact of the GLORIOUS TOTAL ANNIHILATION!!!!!!

OH! and best RTS EVER!!! I still play it. in a VM with win98

  • Amen to that, brother.

  • Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh

  • Thats how I learned to turtle. Take a piece of land and right behind me was my construction bots building defenses as I was fighting.

  • Hey, where did you get this sound track. I want it so bad!

this music brings back a lot of memories

  • It can be easily extracted from the Game CD (try iTunes for example), which you can find on the Internet without much difficulty.

  • Memories of an attack! The Memories!

  • Remember the feeling of pushing the enemy back street by street fighting for every bloody meter of land?

  • Thats how I learned to turtle. Take a piece of land and right behind me was my construction bots building defenses as I was fighting

  • Great game, awesome music!
