Wow. In real life, Freddie was not that big of a guy, but on stage....ahh the man is a giant. I only wish I was there to see them live. Time is very cruel.
I've always loved this song and regretted not seeing them when Freddie was here. It's one of the truly epic songs in rock history, touching on all things rock - guitar power and warmth, vocal power and finesse, ass-kicking rhythm, compelling and satirical lyrics..on and on. Can't wait for my band to learn this(tough to nail Brian's guitar subtleties) Thanks for posting this fantastic video!!
Now I´m a lucky owner of a Queen t-shirt myself. Aloud my teenagedaughter to take a trip to Stockholm and as a kind of thank you i guess she bought me one.
I got this dvd for Christmas last year...as a matter of fact, most of our presents revolved around Queen...t-shirts, jackets, pictures, more dvd's...A great Christmas!!!
Being a frontman is something about STAGE, not life. It doesn't matter if you don't answer all the letters you get from fans, or if you lie in interviews about YOUR OWN PRIVATE life. On stage, without a career of 40 years like the stones... no doubts: Mercury has no rivals. HE is the greatest frontman ever. And the greatest singer, of course. You stoners... come take a walk on the royal side!... :-)
Of course, I think its crazy to argue over Jagger vs. Mercury, since they were/are both absolutely amazing frontmen. In my book, Mercury was the better frontman (I don't think you can argue about the fact that he's the better singer, at least), but Jagger had the better band (again, could be debated, but the Rolling Stones from 68 to 75 were mind blowingly great).
That's when Mick Taylor was with the Rolling Stones. Definitely their finest period. Mercury is a better singer, but Mick Jagger is and will always be the best frontman in all of rock history.
@SatanicMajesty So wrong, Jagger will never NEVER be as good as Mercury was, FM had the greatest voice ever for a rock band & could cross over & sing other types too, plus his stage presence will never be matched, Mick is a distant second easily.
I 100% agree with you....there was no one like him on stage.
I recently had an incredible experience. We are blessed to have a Queen tribute band near us, we just went and saw them last Friday. It was absolutely incredible. This man, belted out Queen songs for two hours and still had that great Freddie voice after all of that. Fantastic tribute and I can't wait to see them again. Queen for a Day...Look them up.
Mick Jagger ??!?!?!? Are you crazy?!?!??! Everyone knows freddie is the greatest frontman ever....sorry to tell you, but Mick Jagger don't come close, in performance, or voice!
You got it backwards dude. Jagger is the best frontman there has ever been, and most likely the best there ever will be. Singing wise, it's a matter of taste; different styles of prefomance and music.
Apparently you don't know what a frontman is. Being a good frontman doesn't singularly mean giving great performances; it means getting the band noticed, and maintaining its relationship with its fans through interviews and offstage events. If you know anything about Freddie Mercury you should know that he was not very open about his personal life and gave very few interviews, and sometimes lied in those he did.
LMAO...."big woman, you made an asshole out of me!" Freddie you & ALWAYS will be the greatest!

I love how gay he is... And I do not mean that negativly at all. I mean in both the sense of happy and homosexual.
I mean, when I see any live performance of Mercury's, it seems like he completley comfortable with himself.
And he doesn't force the song, the msuic just eminates from the whole band. :D
