  • Can anything ever separate us from Christ's Love? One day God's Holy Church, Holy City, and Holy People will be free.

  • @LoneMonk1 Can? Can! Satan has wielded his weapons cleverly, and now people are confused, and religions who serve the same God have turned on eachother, and now weaken eachother in preparation for the arival of the antichrist... Illuminati, conspiracy, government, religion, templars, inquisition, teutons, hospitaliers, ottomans, aliens, holy grail, the covent, the shrowd, he has spinned all these toghether in a very confusing way, so that none find out his plans...

  • its 7500 year or somethink LOL

  • such a shame that Constantinople fell to the Ottomans.

  • @ninjahobo3 don't be ashamed, the city was the pupil of ottomans, it was well groomed under the ottoman rule.

  • @ninjahobo3 The orthodox shold rise to arms and bring it back to its glory, eliminate islam culture and architecture from the holy eastern city! But not hurt any islamist in the process, and ensure all their artifacts and wealth be preserved and given back to them... It shold becomse the equivalent of Vatican, under the old name of the Byzantine Empire (not true, it will still be only one city, but to keep the name) and all orthodoxy be ruled by one patriarch from there! May the orthodox unite!

  • @Zanator1 Wat? We desire neither an empire nor a pope. Would it be nice to have the city back in our hands, sure. However, we are still going on just fine without it.

  • @ninjahobo3

Not ottomans, Turks, Muslim Mongol Turks from Dzungaria. No Such thing as an ottoman, like there is no such thing as a Byzantine, Byzantine = Eastern Roman, or Greek, and ottoman = Turks, or Mongol Turks from Dzungaria.

  • @sdcheung Αre you claiming that there is no such thing as a million years byzantine empire? And unfortunately an ottoman heritor? You must be out of this world!

  • religious persecution by France. ..i can accept asking a Muslim woman to remove her face covering for ID photo, car liscence, etc, but to actually ban theyre religious clothing,(veils), is going too far. .......and, if Sarkozy is a Christian, he should show more respect to those who also revere Mary, Jesus, and God! = Mariam, Isa, Allah!

  • @acerb45666555 ahh there head thing is nothing to do with been Muslim.

  • τι λετε στα Αγγλικα ρε παιδια ?Ελληνικο ειναι!!!

  • Callixtinus, any idea what year this recording was made? i have their 2 CD set of the Akathist with the same piece, but this is a newer recording.

  • @Greek487: Not sure about the date but it's not the old recording, I know which on you mean. This one I think is from 2006.

  • I have to thank you for considering my comment in one of your videos and providing the Greek text; in this simple way you have made the listening to the chant much more immersive for those of us who can read Greek.

Something amusing: I first heard this hymn, in fact this very recording, from the most unlikely source many years ago: a bizarre, somewhat mediocre Gnostic-themed P.C. game, 'Pilgrim', released in the '90s involving Cathars in France. How more out of context can such a thing be?

  • "To Thee the Champion Leader we Thy Flock Dedicate,

A Feast Victory and of Thanksgiving, as one rescued out of sufferings O Theotokos, but as thou art one which might is invisible, from all dangers be do thou deliver us, that we may cry to thee, Rejoice Thou Bride Unwedded"

    Excellent Post. God Bless!

  • vagos, I think your translation is definitely the most widely used. Most people would know it in English as "To Thee the Champion Leader."

  • Stunning and Beautiful! Callixtinus I have included a better, more accurate translation in Elizabethan English: Ancient English instead of the modern English, it has more beauty to it. I use the translations from Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Boston Massachussets, as they have the best Greek to English translations than anyone else. They translated them so that they can be chanted in the same meter, same syllables and timing as the Greek, making their translations the best I've seen.
