I was fortunate to see kd perform this tune (and lots of her own awesome music) live at the Balboa Theatre in San Diego last October (2011), fourth row center orchestra. As soon as the first chord was struck for 'Hallelujah', there was an immediate hush in the audience; you could have heard a pin drop... If she's coming to a venue near you, do everything within your power, ways and means to experience kd live... you won't regret it!!!!

But I have a brother who lives just a couple of miles from Balboa Park (beautiful place) and I would have flown down in a second had I known, just to hear her sing this one song. Awesome! As a musician there are not many renditions of songs, whether it be instrumental, vocal, or other that touch me. This one by K.D. touches me deeply. I can find my place where I want to be, even if temporarily.

@littlenero :Cohen has written and performed many different versions of this song, including with and without the 'lord of song' verse (personally I missed the 'holy dove' verse more).
She has an amazing voice, but like many who cover the song she edited the lyrics in unfortunate ways that alter the poetry. She cut off one of the last sets of lines "But even though it all went wrong/ I'll stand right here before the lord of song/ with nothing on my tongue but hallelujah". This is the uplifting, redemptive end to the song. The poetry just isn't the same if they get chopped off.
There is a God above KD. He gave you your beautiful talent and me the ability to see it. I am a musician but I weep at your beautiful voice. I wish this to another.
Ill never forget this night. I was sitting about 15 rows away from the stage and her and I was crying like there was no tomorrow in fact my entire row all had tears coming down their eyes. One of the best nights of my life. KD Lang is my favourite female singer of all time.

Awesome! As a musician there are not many renditions of songs, whether it be instrumental, vocal, or other that touch me. This one by K.D. touches me deeply. I can find my place where I want to be, even if temporarily.

her voice is just beautiful, effortless, KD does have a bachelor's degree in music and I have always felt she knows how to handle her voice far better than most popular singers today. This performance is just the best, it cannot get any better than this.

@littlenero :Cohen has written and performed many different versions of this song, including with and without the 'lord of song' verse (personally I missed the 'holy dove' verse more).

She has an amazing voice, but like many who cover the song she edited the lyrics in unfortunate ways that alter the poetry. She cut off one of the last sets of lines "But even though it all went wrong/ I'll stand right here before the lord of song/ with nothing on my tongue but hallelujah". This is the uplifting, redemptive end to the song. The poetry just isn't the same if they get chopped off.

Ill never forget this night. I was sitting about 15 rows away from the stage and her and I was crying like there was no tomorrow in fact my entire row all had tears coming down their eyes. One of the best nights of my life. KD Lang is my favourite female singer of all time.
