I read the book "CAN MITT ROMNEY SERVE TWO MASTERS?" and this book devotes an entire chapter to the horrific racism against Blacks (and Native Americans) in the Mormon Church and historical doctrine.

Hinckley was an LDS member before 1978. Surely, he must have known the reason that LDS leaders gave to black people when they asked why they were refrained from attaining the priesthood.

No I don't. But you do (or are supposed to), being as they are apostles, called forth by God to be special witnesses of Jesus Christ. And, as such, are given wisdom and specific knowledge of God, by God. And I know not ALL blacks were refrained from the priesthood up to a certain point. In the bible only the levite tribe had the priesthood, and we don't know why, but God works in his own time and in his own way. Even if the prophets wanted to give blacks the priesthood, they had to wait for God's time.
I joined the church in 1978 & was aware of this policy and the reasons given for it but it was not an issue fo rme then. I have an issue with the proclamation because it looks like the church gave into political pressure and it was not a divine revelation to give the priesthood to blacks.

Learning about blacks being denied priesthood was alarming to me. Nobody ever mentioned it to me for all my years in the church. I finally it from an anti-Mormon and I wanted to deny it. From then on I questioned the church's past and the more history I read the more I learned of it's lies.

It says in the scriptures that God is the "father of all spirits" (Heb 12:9)... it says that the angels are the Sons of God even satan (Job 2:1; Job 38:7). We all have spirits and God is the Father of "ALL" spirits and satan was once called the Son of the Morning being an angel - who were the angels refered to by Job as the "Sons of God" in that council. I had to use the word angel because the serpent does not believe that angels are all part of the same family of God...spirits.

Then read the Book called : "The Westminster Dictionary of CHRISTIAN THEOLOGY" read up on "deification" on page 147 of said book. Find out how the early church fathers and Christians believed in and taught we can become gods by grace -> "joint-heirs with Christ". This doctrine to this day is taught by the Eastern "Orthodox" Christian churches although a watered down version of the Doctrine.

For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." But it's important to realize that to become LIKE God is not the same as trying to BECOME God (which is what satan wants). To become like God is to follow his character and recognize his authority over us.

I read the book "CAN MITT ROMNEY SERVE TWO MASTERS?" and this book devotes an entire chapter to the horrific racism against Blacks (and Native Americans) in the Mormon Church and historical doctrine.
It's horrible what Mormons believe about blacks and is written in their Book of Mormon. I would highly recommend that everyone read this book before going to the voting booth in 2012 for Romney. Romney is a major Mormon and also believes that he will become a literal God.

He was an LDS apostle, and as such is one of the key holders of the priesthood. It was his -job- to know the reason why they weren't allowed, as a prerequisite to attaining the keys to the priesthood. Don't be naive. He said "I don't know" because saying "Because they were black", would cause a PR meltdown. So yes, he beat around the bush.

There is no claim to omniscience for the Prophet of the LDS church. the terms prophet seer and revelator pertain to the right and ability to receive continuing revelation from god in behalf of the church. The church is "developing" people of all races and nationalities- (caucasian americans as well)- its part of the fourfold mission of the church. Its called "perfecting the saints"- a term coined by the apostle paul. Gordon B Hinckley was indeed a prophet of god.

The Bible
The Book of Mormon
The D&C
The PofGP
And General Conferance talks that eventually get sustained as revelation to be binding on the saints (i.e. The Proclamation to the World)
These are called the STANDARD WORKS - and if it doesn't come from any of these..then it is just speculation and "theory" - not doctrine nor binding on the saints.

This proves that he is a prophet, and that all the prophets before him were only doing what God had commanded them to. In the bible only the levite tribe had the priesthood, and we don't know why, but God works in his own time and in his own way. Even if the prophets wanted to give blacks the priesthood, they had to wait for God's time.

I joined the church in 1978 & was aware of this policy and the reasons given for it but it was not an issue fo rme then. I have an issue with the proclamation because it looks like the church gave into political pressure and it was not a divine revelation to give the priesthood to blacks.

Learning about blacks being denied priesthood was alarming to me. Nobody ever mentioned it to me for all my years in the church. I finally it from an anti-Mormon and I wanted to deny it. From then on I questioned the church's past and the more history I read the more I learned of it's lies.
People will deny the past and that is fine with me. I for one though am glad I have awoke. I cant believe how ignorant I was of the Mormon history. There is a reason they hated/hate us.

It says in the scriptures that God is the "father of all spirits" (Heb 12:9)... it says that the angels are the Sons of God even satan (Job 2:1; Job 38:7). We all have spirits and God is the Father of "ALL" spirits and satan was once called the Son of the Morning being an angel - who were the angels refered to by Job as the "Sons of God" in that council. I had to use the word angel because the serpent does not believe that angels are all part of the same family of God...spirits.
