  • Love does hurt, but this is part of being human and alive ... neither can be avoided. We love those who we have lost, but keeping memories of them, gives meaning to that love.

  • Roy Orbison has a country flavour to his wonderful voice but this song is without question a soul number touching you deep down. It is Roys rich vocal that transorms this song. You'll never hear this sung better and I defy anyone to listen on their own and not feel emotional. Thanks for the memories Roy and it just proves how sad that too many youngsters now only now the Simon Cowel crap from the X-Factor.

  • to answer your question about how original this was. The song was written by Boudleaux Bryant in 1957 and appeared on the Everly Brothers album but never released as a single. Roy was next and went to the top of the charts with it.

  • love this song

  • is this the original version?

  • how can one hear this?

  • Great Great song & sung how was meant 2 be!

  • He was The Greatest!

  • What a voice and what a performer. This is how to sing a song with feeling. It touches you deep down and proves there are so many ways to sing true Soul music.

  • I LOVE YOU BABY!

  • love is not meant for just a lover , i lost my dad at christmas and everything keeps reminding me of him , i am 42 and this music only reminds me of him , he introduced me to so many amazing singers , and songs from the 1930s to present day , miss you dad ............

  • @chris185821 G-D Bless him.

  • @chris185821

My condolences Sir. It is a key transitional shift. The only solace one can offer is to suggest that lives lived properly require the death of one's father. Imagine the pain of the opposite occurring. Peace.

  • Anyone noticed: "Love is like a ....., burns you when it's hot". Nazareth didn't like the original word it seems.

  • hmm, i have to say i prefer Nazareth's version

  • i love Roy Orbison, but i think the Everly Brothers version of this song takes a lot of beating..

  • It hurts more when you think you are only playing but when that person is gone, ..... when you are awake you keep on reminiscing the bad & good memories you shared... & when you're sleep you keep on dreaming the same memories you reminisce while awake,..... you discover it is love .... : < (

  • what song didnt this guy sing!!!!!....awsome song

  • I'd rather have no love at all, really. It's not worth the pain.

  • @supermassive123 IF YOU DONT LOVE, WHATS THE POINT OF IT ALL.

so that when they get to High School and have their first serious romance

they will be forewarned and not go around thinking they invented love.

  • Love hurts... Love shouldn't hurt!

  • @QuiiKScopZzHD Of course it should. What's the point of all the good stuff without the hurt to put it in context? It's all part of the rich pagent that is life.

  • Roy had such a beautful voice TEB version sounds very pure and sweet to me Roys version gives me goosebumps and Nazareth's goes straight to my heart for the pure emotion in the song.

  • best all time singer!

  • Roy was on tour, I believe with the Beatles in England, when he left his normal glasses in the car and only had his prescription sunglasses to wear.Hence the style was born.

  • This is one of my favs from Roy..goes WAY back. I was a girl I think, but never grew up when it came to the legend of my time.

  • there not sunglases

    he was blind ;/

  • why did he always weared sunglasses??was there any sun on stage??btw great song

  • i think it was just part of his image, always makes me feel sorry for him when i see him in old live clips though.

dunno if it's just me, but he always seems so sad :(

  • Roy had very pale colored eyes, was very sensitive to light and had to wear sunglasses for protection.

  • fantastic, used to listen to this with my first true love,Ann Bailey,in her parents front room. She lived in Whythenshaw near Manchester Airport. This was in 1964.She worked at the AA in Manchester,I dont suppose anyone knows her whereabouts.

  • How can we add to the other comments? Roy was a god even when he was doing cover versions.

  • this song goes back to my childhood, my mother made me listen to her roy tapes at the age of 7 till now and I love him@ Roy you have made my life so much better. And a legend you are. Always. I wish you were with us now.

  • I had no idea that this was a Roy original, I thought Nazareth wrote it but I guess I found out otherwise lol, Roy does it better though

  • well i think it was the everly brothers who recorded this song first, then it was roy and then nazareth

  • You had no idea because it is not a Roy original. This is an original from the unmatched Everly Brothers. Roy's and Nazareth's versions are mere covers.
