yes this is pretty nice your design makes a lot of sense. I found this game actually challenges you to think, and I really like level 8 where you can be a lot more creative being able to use cables. trying to buy the full game but for some reason android market won't connect.. i think they might be updating it atm.
I just started playing this game a few days ago. This is the level I most recently finished as of today and I wanted to see what other solutions there might be. I really love this solution; besides using so few girders, it has some nice design elements, especially on the right side.
Thank you very much! In reply to your question, i would say they are defiantly based in actual physics and could be used as learning tool, especially as structural engineering isn't the most popular of subjects.
However, in the pay version they introduce suspension cables which are a bit ropey (pardon the pun), too much slack in them to start with
Your solution is AMAZING! I, too, do not consider a level solved just because the game allows the train to pass, bouncing along with passengers thrown around like pinballs or with structural elements sitting on the ground. I solved this properly as well, but had to use every girder available. As a structural engineer, do you think the game, especially the red stress point indicators, are based on actual physics and are useful as a learning tool for aspiring engineers/students?
Define "doing it properly" please. I think i have a better solution, but it depends on your definition. I don't use any girders beneath the bridge on the sides, against the rocks, as this is silly me. Perhaps this is what you mean also.
I did it with 15 girders, i just cant take a video with my phone of my phone. :) j/k Well done.

As a structural engineer, you would know that the bridge you shown would never work, so I don't see any advantage.
