  • I have a question. Since Phil was asked to start by his dad, is his dad better than him? And if so, I need to see him play (if at all possible).

  • @SLMPproductions sorry but Phils Dad passed away a few years ago, he will be sadly missed. he was a great gentelman. his name was Peter R.I.P

  • @frettedamericana Thank you for this comment, its what made me decide to start playing.

  • @ZacharyWeekend steve vai started at 15

  • @ZacharyWeekend i know its not guitar, but my dads 53 and is learning the bass. purely so he can see what the big deal is when i come home from playing a gig and im on cloud 9 for days after. he's going to do a gig with my band when he's learnt how to play and play our songs. we've set him a deadline and he's almost ready, with over 6 months till the gig we want him to do with us :D

  • @ZacharyWeekend hell my uncle started playing the guitar at 14 and the luth at 17...now he plays in baroque music concerts on his 2 meter long theorbo =)

  • @ZacharyWeekend idd never to late ;) my teacher of musicschool is a professional muscician and he started on 16.. so no problem ;) just go for it :)

  • @ZacharyWeekend The first time Jimi Hendrix picked up a guitar, he was 15

  • @ZacharyWeekend

I started playing when I was 16 as did Slash (and no I'm not comparing myself to Slash. It's all about discipline especially in the beginning but it's totally worth it

  • @ZacharyWeekend never too late, I'm 32, I've started two years ago and now I play in a rock band!!!

  • @ZacharyWeekend I didnt start SERIOUSLY playing till I was 19. Just dedicate plenty of time to practice and try to get the best gear possible. P.S. Best gear possible doesn't necessarily mean high dollar, cork sniffing, six string snobs.

  • i know Phil X

  • @sirdanik me to my cousin plays, works with and fixes his guitars

  • @sirdanik SO?

  • NVM i meant 5:12

  • at 5:15 was that some one Cocking a gun if so that was totally off topic.

  • @UniversalBIGB123 I think that might have been doors swinging open.

  • phil x rules , you are the best man, thanks for all your videos!!

  • When do we get to see the SG melody maker and the single pickup epiphone?

  • question: is Phil X Files supposed the be a play on the name X Files? You know, the great TV show from the nineties?

  • the Guitarits that inspired me to play were Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr.. They dont really play the style of music that EVH or Jimmy Page played. Just their tones of their guitars got me to play.

  • Amen Bro

  • B.B King developed his vibrato so as to imitate slide guitar hence the unique sound.

  • B.B King developed his vibrato so as to imitate slide guitar hence the unique sound.

  • @Zeppelin1275 Y? cause he looks like him? A little I guess...

  • Phil... you are awesome. :D

  • Phil, one question.

How do you approach vocals? Have you had any training, or is your voice just naturally awesome?

I watched the video of you playing Highway Star - /watch?v=aJm_6AblrM0 - and that scream at the start, dude... jeez... I gotta know how to do that!!!!!!!

    Thanks man, rock on =]

  • @EJRocky

what's funny is my voice was 1/2 shot that night but i'm lucky my middle range goes first. i went to a few vocal coaches but it didn't really help me. i found the warm up exercises they gave me fatigued by voice before i even sang so my warm up now is "highway to hell". i think it comes down to finding out what "placement" is and finding yours.

  • da no es tan bueno... quien seria este¿

  • whats the song at the beginning?

  • The song called sonic machine.

  • still think hes a solid dude

  • Mad talent...ya don't need the spikey hair. It just detracts from yer talent.

  • Perhaps not detracts, but distracts. The talent's there regardless.

  • Which video was highway star?

  • How do you feel about David Gilmour?

  • David Gilmore is awesome. His music is very nostalgic but beautiful!

  • Gilmour plays three notes and says volumes. He understates his leads, but they're still classic's that will live forever.
