  • hhahah what the fuck! peppers!

  • very cool if i ever see one for sale i'm so buying it! :D

  • anybody else hre okaykay in the begening?

  • my eyes started to hurt ohh

  • reeeeetaaaaaarded

  • This thing might not technically be a game console but it is a pretty cool music visualizer, I'm sure Jeff Minter has a few of these!

  • aftershave.....

  • You have the same Emerson TV my brother has, like anyone cares. :3

  • Does the Atari Video Music out put sound or does it it have to come from the source? I have one and when I turn it on the visuals work fine, but all I hear is static.

  • That is something like a Sound Scope in PSone,but...much bigger

  • Fantastic device! Please tell me you have a turntable - this thing just begs to be paired with Pink Floyd records. Isn't it amazing just how much psychedelics have influenced the computer revolution? As Terence McKenna said, "By chance or by design, the proponents of psychedelics have learned that it's totally acceptable to this culture if its disguised as electronic entertainment."

  • This is fucking amazing. Me want.

  • Man...what WERE they smoking?

I want some of it :)

  • silent library cotton candy FTW

  • This is awesome man, have you taken a look at the Atari Jaguar CD"s VLM?

  • Yeah check out my most recent Jaguar vid I put. =)

  • It would be cool to install one of those at a club...having it on a big display with the music.

  • Whoa!!! Damn that would be awesome with some hippie music! XD

  • Am I the only one who sees this and thinks "this would be SO perfect for a rave"? Why didn't Atari market this to nightclub owners? It woulda been awesome to have these effects at a disco. Seriously, hook this thing up and play Funky Town or I Feel Love.

  • I believe i saw one of these in a movie called "over the edge" which came out in 1979 i believe. it starred a young Matt Dillon and this device had a cameo in the background during a scene... The scene was somwhere in the middle of the movie during a phone conversation between the main character and a mute kid... Im almost positive thats where i saw it! i guarantee you!

  • Cool I'll have to check that movie out. It's very possible considering the year of the movie.

  • Between this thing and that visual cart for the Mega Drive/MCD that StrictlySega shown I'm so jealous! I love these things! This one is super awesome because its old school analog technology!

  • If you have a friend that suffers from seizures, and want to play a prank on him, put on some techno/trance music, and turn this on, and show him this. That would be fun... =P

  • you gotto let me barrow this one. lol

  • One way you coulda gotten the computer to capture that was to connect that device to a VCR on channel 3 and output the VCR's composite signal to the computer capture device.

  • I like that a lot.

So it's pretty basic compared to the kind of visualisers we're used to on PCs and some consoles, but hey, it's ancient, and as such, seriously cool.

  • does it use one of those boxes to hook up to the tv?

  • Interesting Atari artifact from the 70s.. Totally dig it... Congrats on owning one man..

  • looks like the open beta of the first windows media player. LOL!

  • HOLY SHIT... I JUST HAD A SEIZURE.

  • I find this thing really interesting. Cool video. I would have enjoyed this when it came out, maybe not for the price though. Kind of just a simple version of windows media player visuals but years earlier.

  • I was gonna say the same!

  • Its soooo beautiful,,, ive never drooled so much from listening to a aftershave commercial...

but seriously.. thank you so much for posting this... and the last vid... im extremely grateful..

  • what pikminking56 said that was funny but it seems cool

  • NICE. i really dont get why somebody would buy it back in the day though.

when u do play it with music u should play pearljam. that would be trippy.

  • I just don't get this thing...I guess you gotta be high.

  • As Master Yoda would say "and that is why it failed".

  • how could u not love it?... its that old school atari style graphics.. flowing to an analogue signal.. I could imagine people with lots of money or a passion for modern tech back then getting one.. It would of gone nicely with their magnavox discovision..(laserdisc)

  • I'm sorry gentlemen. This just doesn't do it for me. I recognize the historical significance of it of course, but I'd rather have a Heavy Sixer if given the choice. At least you can play games on that.

  • lol, I like the part about the contestant.

  • Sweet!

  • This would be cool at a party

  • Impressive, for a machine with that old.

  • Amazing they were ahead of there time, do you think this inspired things like Virtual Light Machine and other image generating programs?

  • that things is friggin awsome...i gotta find one

  • cool
