coming from a Brit...i consider Australian rock/metal to be top of the pile at the moment..The Butterfly Effect,Dead Letter Circus and Karnivool...fantastic bands
@Blacklabelskata Thanks for telling me that! I'm definitely going to have to do that! This is one of my favorite bands and I just have to get this song!!
I was lucky enough to open up for these guys back in 2009 in London @ ULU. They went out of their way to chat to us and hangout backstage, they were really down to earth guys. God knows why this beautiful song/video hasn't got millions of views!!
This clip looks like the Incubus one for "dig" that was made by a fan as part of a competition. Incubus released a blanket video of them performing the song and the contestants just got to cut and paste and gay it up with effects and animation. WHY TBE?!?!?! WHY!!?!?!?
I went off TBE for a while, but I liked this song a lot when it came on radio. I don't usually like a pop-rock sound, but somehow TBE can make it good. I'm not too impressed by their film clips, but who cares? their live shows are their strong point.
ahhhh good ole butterfly effect only genre that fits in with this is that which alo belongs to tool, APC(maynard) coheed and cambria, mars volta and yes maybe dream theater... which is just awesome and unclassifiable XD
they don't stick to one genre really..their old stuff would be considered metal almost...this song would be borderline pop rock...generally i class them as alternate rock or progressive rock..but generally they just rock
@thebutterflyeffect89 Yeah they are really like one of those bands where its not close to pop, metal, classic rock, etc. They remind me a bit of Tool in that unique alternative hardcore meaningful type music
please tell me you aren't going to be like, oh, that genres not cool so no matter how much I like the music I won't listen to it...cause I know some ppl like that and they drive me INSANE!
@ByJe55ica Can hear bit of Glam rock sound, Punk sound and Pop vocals in this song but I think "thebutterflyeffect89" nailed most of the answer as they are progressive hard rock or could say alternative rock ; )
These guys are so cool in-person, we got to speak to them for a bit after a gig in Wolverhamton (we live in Wales... Long drive ¬_¬') We demanded a gig in Wales and we got it ;) Cardiff in November! =D
am i crazy or doesn't he look like dane cook in this video? for those who hate dane cook that doesn't matter lol im just wondering if anyone agrees with me on that.
on another note, still waiting for this album to show up...only have Begins Here so far...I need more Butterfly Effect!!! This track and The Window And the Watcher are my favorite tracks from FCoK that I've heard so far.
I have not yet, but then again dumb as it may sound I do not want to ruin the entire album listening to the whole thing before I actually get it.:) Btw, while we speak of awesome aussie bands such as TBE...Karnivool's new album is off the fuckin hook, you should check that out sometime if you havent already:D
cool..well its the opening song..7 minutes long and muse like...as for karnivools newy have heard it several times and saw them live on their recent tour :) amazing live band,, they are my favourite band (well butterfly effect is....they are tied at number 1 XD)
another great album that came out this year is the new Mars Volta. check that out sometime too...and if you have heard of them but were not down with the whole "songs drawn out with sparse ambience" thing like some are...i guarantee you wont find much of that on there. listen to the track Cotapaxi, or also Since We've Been Wrong. Some of their best they have made, but the whole album is good. Just a friendly recommendation:D
same with coheed and cambria..basically if i don't like the vocals i won't listen to them...dream theater is perhaps an exception..vocals are average..but the rest of the band are amazing.
Then tell you bro to tell clint to throw in some heavier vocals next album. Don't get me wrong, i enjoy the change, but there is still something about begins here that is somewhat more dark than the recent material. It's all about hope/love/loss now, and less agression/sorrow that was present on begins here. I'm not saying to go back where they came from, but to atleast not leave it behind.
I don't listen to The Butterfly Effect very often, but I do agree that they are underrated. They produce some stunning music videos, and their guitarist is extremely inventive when it comes to riffs and chords.

i got into em coz my brother bombers05 played them constantly thru the stereo so i had no choice but 2 listen to the beauty that was the butterfly effect
Totally reminds me Pulse Ultra...
