border reiver is an scottish lorry [truck] and quite possibly one of toughest and most reliarble lorries ever built "sure as the sunrise" when other trucks broke down the albion reiver would keep going and get you home' fitting tribute to the lorry and the drivers who drove them. [the albion reiver l.a.d 20ton 6 wheeler] and a great song to boot.
So glad I found this. I was at this very show and never had a chance to listen to the new album beforehand. New favorite Knopfler song? Well, no, "Money for Nothing" still beats it out but this is a fantastic song.
Wish he'd drop songs like Why Aye Man, Speedway and Romeo & Juliet (great songs, but why every single show?) and play songs like Darling Pretty, Rudiger, Boom Like That, Golden Heart, Silvertown Blues, etc. He's got such a great catalogue of songs but always plays the same songs every show and every tour :o( And where's So Far From the Clyde on this tour?!
@Mubble i agree "darling pretty"," boom like that" are indeed great songs, but when anyone says the name " mark knopfler"...you are reminded of his days back in dire straits...and only some of his solo songs like "what it is"......and in case i ever attend one of his concerts i'd want him to play it all!!not leaving a single thing...knopfler for life!!
saw him twice in LA - second night he didnt play Donegan's gone or Get Lucky but he did play Done w Bonaparte and a great version of Cleaning My Gun -
Thanks for posting the setlist, I wasn't sure if I remembered all the songs in the right order. Thanks for posting the songs and helping to extend and preserve the great show!!!
