The second time it was merely a 'wants and warrants' check, as seeing the car he was driving was reported stolen. It really had nothing to do with his driving.

Why did Ted do it? A. Rule thinks he was killing the girl who jilted him from the class he always wanted to be part of, over & over again. The police say that he could only gratify himself & his fantasies with necrophilic acts. Now we have a gent saying Ted killed so he could be somebody, & take a stand against the world he could never fit into. What if Ted killed because he wanted to & cause he could? What if everything society values, meant nothing to him? Didn't need a reason. Just did it.
