Take this stupid video down. There shouldn't even be a debate about this. Anyone that doesn't think Jordan is the greatest clutch basketball player is in serious denial or just a hater.
This video is waaaay bias against Kobe and FOR Jordan. You did NOT indicate arrows against Kobe where you should have. BS. Be fair instead of just another fan. Both players have made and missed big shots... deal with it.
kobe is 2nd grade trying hard copycat of MJ, he got more game than mj and still kobe is behind in every stats....points,assist,rebound,steal and block...having a low FG% in this softer pussy watered down era means kobe isn't the level of MJ,bird, magic.
MOST OF THESE SHOTS KOBE HIT DURING THE REGULAR SEASON MIKE WAS MUCH, MUCH BETTER WITH THE GAME ON THE LINE! HOW MANY PLAYOFF GAMES DOES KOBE HAVE 50 POINTS IN! HAS HE EVER HAD 50 POINTS IN THE FINALS? HE IS CLUTCH BUT HE AINT NO JORDAN BY NO MEANS!
why would u ever put in quotations that Kobe was guarded by the smaller jarred jack? MJ was single guarded by a 6'0 kevin johnson in the 93 finals and drove on a 6'5 barkley. talk about midget fest. Kobe plays the celtics and MJ plays midgets. dumb ass.
dude as great as MJ was, every single SHOT attempt is single covered. like, Kobe got quadruple teamed for his finals game winner attempt vs orlando in 2009... i wonder why? it maybe cause he has no shooters. yea thats why.
@rebirth34789q 2nd 3-peat all of jordans???? I dont think so man. 95-96 he had dennis rodman( one of the best defenders and rebounders of all time. He had Tony kukoc( the sixth man of the year). And scottie pippen still in his prime.
@Disposable5 yeah and rodman often get Ejected, foul'd, TF and often TO the ball because of his EGO and he's not in his prime anymore in bulls run he can't even stop malone.
they're both awesome who cares who's the best? there will never be another Jordan and there will never be another Kobe, they will both be in the hall of fame and they both have the same accolades that most basketball players can only dream of getting, as for rings i don't believe that the better player has more rings cause if that was the case then Robert Horry is "better" than both of them, Bill Russell too.
@datnoticboi Jordan is much better, this shouldn't even be a conversation. Sure they'll both be in the Hall of Fame but so will a lot of people, it doesn't make the equals. What accolades are you talking about? Jordan has way more accolades than Kobe. The clutch thing is a joke, Kobe shoots 30% in game winning situations, even less in the playoffs, Jordan shot over 50% in those situations. Of course Kobe is better than Horry but he's not better than Russell.
@KingJames1871 you see man you're just Kobe biased, you hate Kobe so you're gonna point out the negatives without mentioning the positives, and by accolades i mean League MVP, team leading scoring, Starting All-Star game, Played in the Olympics, stuff like that that both players achieved, I believe Jordan is best FOR NOW, but up and coming talent just has to tell that you he won't be the best forever. and if you say Kobe isn't better than Russell then you're saying Jordan isn't either
@datnoticboi Part 1: It's not that I hate Kobe, it's his fans who I hate. I'm not talking about all Kobe fans of course, I'm a Kobe fan myself, he's a phenomenal player and i love watching him play. I just can't stand the ignorant Kobe fanboys (Kobetards) who put him on a level with Jordan and put him ahead of superior players, with better legacies. Kobe has a lot of accolades that Jordan has, except Jordan dwarfs him in quantity, plus Kobe doesn't have a DPOY or any steals titles.
@datnoticboi Part 2: How is saying Bill Russell is better than Kobe equivalent to saying Russel is better than Jordan? What is you're criteria for comparing players? Like I said, MJ dwarfs Kobe in accolades, 10 scoring titles to 2, 5 MVP's to 1, 6 Finals MVP's to 2 etc. He also dwarfs him statistically which is a representation of skill level. Bill Russell is a top 5 player of all time, Kobe is top 20, maybe top 15 and even if you don't think Jordan is the GOAT, he is at the very least top 5.
@KingJames1871 Kobe is maybe top 20? dude, barkley was ranked 20th best player ever at one point. Kobe is at LEAST, top 5. i dont ever wanna hear that shit again. Kobe has 5 rings and he pent his PRIME with SMUSH and KWAME. dumb ass.
@KOBEandCAMBRIA24 Arguing with a Kobetard is absolutely pointless, I've given up on trying to get through to people like you. Kobe's nowhere near top 5 you dumb fuck. Now I'm sure you'll reply back with some retarded fanboy argument like 5 rings, or 81 points, so I'll just say this, no matter what criteria you use (rings, stats, accolades, dominance of era, innovation, impact on the game, etc.), you can't make an argument for Kobe being top 5.
To me, the thing that separates Jordan from Kobe as the far superior player, and clutch player, is that final minute against Utah - Jordan goes to the hole for the easy layup, then makes a play on Malone on the defensive end, then sets up the GW shot, whereas Kobe would have undoubtedly tried to tie the game up with a 3 as soon as he got the chance.
@TheJesseGladSaget that is a great point! definitely something i will use in future arguments but it's not necessarily a bad thing Kobe would go for the 3, maybe it's part of the pressure of playing for LA you have to make it "dramatic" lol
Kobe has had hero-worship syndrome his entire career, so instead of opting for the more manageable play, he HAS to shoot the much more difficult shot, which has lent to his shitty clutch percentages in his long, illustrious career as an overrated shot-jacker.
Not taking anything from MJ but Kobez made much much tougher game winners. Their both crazy clutch but Kobe faces tougher competition & makes wayyy crazier shots.
@jkang24 no kobe didn't face tougher competition, MJ face lots of obstacle more, changing era and player, MJ face 80's stars like james worthy, isiah, magic, bird mchale,perish,rodman,dumars.., 90's stars like ewing, mourning, hardaway, kemp, payton, oakley, drexler, barkley, shaq, malon, stockton, miller ,olajuwon,.....both 90' and 2k's stars like iverson, duncan, nash, hill, shaq, mutombo, webber, garnet, kidd,
@bhwre Lol what? MJ never lost in the NBA finals and shot 57% on game winners for his career. Kobe has lost twice in the finals, was the leader of the Lakers in 3 of their 4 biggest playoff losses in history, and shot 28% on his career game winners. He also only has 1 50 point playoff game, while MJ has 8.
Of Kobe's top 20 games, only 8 of them have come against a team with a winning record. For Jordan, 15 came against winning teams.
Kobe's more clutch my ass. Better competition? Yeah right.
wow jordan did not face better defense he just faced more physical play against him which everyone knows kobe can play against there wasnt players back in the 80s that were drafted to the nba that specialize in defense like it is today in some shots jordan made that you just showed on your video the defender didnt even put there hands up to even defend the shot or even put a hand in his face to mess his vision of the basket which they really didnt do.
@TheYoshibeast1 because jordan is very unpredictable and better in shaking his defenders..will he take a jumpshot or will he drive to the basket or will he pass it to his teammate?.. while Kobe....even the audience know he will take a jump shot...
Your overall point about Pippen is mostly true but somewhat inaccurate. Pippen joined the bulls in 88 and didn't become an all star until 91. The first time they won it, Pippen was good but not that special. He was better the following year and was really good in that third one. The second 3peat was actually Pippen at this best. That being said, when it came to finals series, it was Jordan carrying the load. Even at his best, Pippen was never a natural, dependable scorer
@rebirth42789q He's still gonna run this team & make sure that they succeed. I think he can still get 7 rings & his % should go up if he stays healthy.
@rebirth34789q ok well if u look at the 4th quarter scoring in the finals, for say karl malone, its not even close to michael jordans, because its much tougher to get a bucket on dennis rodman in the 4th, then it is byron russel or jeff hornaceck, and even an injured pippen can deal with byron russel and jeff, i mean hes 6'7, and their like 6'1 and 6'5, the bulls defense was top 3 defense of all time, they shut u down in the 4th, and then they had the best player in the league
@rebirth34789q Yea disagree 90% is a bit of an exaggeration. 50-60% is more like it. And being that this is basketball, a team sport, 50% for one man out of 12 is huge number. That's why i can't accept your 90. There were other players involved in those championship runs.
@rebirth34789q But you gotta understand that stats can be deceiving sometimes. Who cares how many steals or blocks he got..he's never been a great blocker but when it comes to stopping his opponent 1 on 1 he makes it happen. He stops his opponents from putting the ball in the basket. THATS DEFENSE. & I completely agree that he does take too many shot in alot of games & shoots inconsistently. But you can't try to take away his accomplishment. He's made a career out of taking & making tough shots
I don't know how anybody can claim that 1 is more clutch. Their both proven defenders, consistency, all though I must say when Kobe gets it going scoring wise he's pretty much on his own level. I mean 4 straight 50+(thats 60, 50, 65, 50) MJ had 3 straight 50+, Kobe 9 straight 40+, 60,61,65, & 62 in 3! Not to mention 81. But their both amazingly clutch. & they both WIN! Their both at the top & noone else even comes close.
@rebirth34789q Well you're knocking on Pippen's offensive ability, disregarding that his role was defense. Yea his FG was low, yea he wasn't an all star, but he was a great defender with his length and versatility, and was a major contributor in the championships. Same with Dennis Rodman, his role was defense and rebounding and such, and there's no way MJ did all those by himself. Fuck outta here.
wow u just put more yellow arrows in the mj clips to make it look like more ppl defended him, fact is they played in diff eras so really u cant compare only thing u can say is they are 2 of the most talented n clutch players on both ends of the floor we've ever seen.. 1 guy has 6 titles the other has 5 enough said
@rebirth34789q they had the best defense though, and everybody knows defense wins game, they had the best defenders at 3 positions, which is SG, SF, and PF, nobody ever had that before, his team was stacked
Great finish, lol. I thought you were gonna show some gay ass lucky heave from half court at a high school game. But you didn't so props for that.. Cool vid
jordan had a way to get rid of the defenders. His first step was so fast they could not stop themselves when he took his jump shot. It was simple as that; they had too much momentum and commitment when they try to follow jordan. MJ was just fast, and he did not miss his jump shots.
The true test in the clutch is during the playoffs. Where the defense is at its highest intensity against the NBA's top teams. Shooting is also not the only definition of the word. Basketball still involves passing, defending, hustle, etc... and all of these can be clutch plays. Not even a flu could stop MJ in the clutch in the finals. As for Kobe, most of the time he just tries too hard: watch?v=HLMZOVsyw1g
@hurstparis That's debatable b/c MJ often played while injured. Ever since he was sidelined for 64 games back in '86, he's been hiding his injuries. But that's got nothing to do w/ what I just said. This is about clutch in the playoffs, and I think Kobe is 0 for 5 in his last game winning attempts. He needs to try more clutch passes instead of just shooting all the time. His teammates are good enough.
@jp3813 i mean when u think about it, kobe has already played longer than jordan has and so based on the long year he has played he's more tired then when jordan came back in his 30's,. but the fact still remains that although he might have missed the last 5clutch shots, not forget jordan has missed several gamewinners also,. so it still becomes a debatable discussion due to both of them bein great players in general, and they always been the person to take the shots for the team their own,,..
@hurstparis Actually, they're currently only 31 regular season games apart. Also consider that Kobe was a bench player in his first few seasons. If you want numbers though, in game-tying or game-winning shots under 24 seconds in the playoffs, MJ is 9 of 18 (50%) and Kobe is currently 7 of 25 (28%). In one stretch from 2002 to 2004 (during his prime), the latter had 8 straight misses. And a new streak is currently at hand. The former had three straight misses at most late in his career.
@kobeisraw2424 How is Kobe the best in clutch? ESPN Stats & Information's Alok Pattani dug through 15 years of NBA data -- Bryant's entire career, regular season and playoffs -- and found that Bryant has attempted 115 shots in the final 24 seconds of a game in which the Lakers were tied or trailed by two or fewer points. He connected on 36, and missed 79 times. That's 31.3%. He has more than twice as many misses than makes. On game winners, Jordan connected on 33 of 58 attempts (56.9%).
@EliasJordan3 What? It's not like Jordan played in the 60's. All the stat-categories (including the advanced ones, pace (per possession), etc.) are accounted for, when it comes to both Kobe and Jordan's career.
Well, doing the research tells the whole story. Jordan's fg% on game winning shots: 56.9%. Kobe's: 27%. Kobe has more game winning shots than Jordan, but it took him a hell of alot more tries to get there. Kobe fans always say "stats don't tell the whole story", but I ask you this: If you have a guy that hits 57% of his game winning shots on your team and another that hits 27% of them, with 22 seconds on the clock, who do you want with the ball? Don't hide from the facts. :)
This video is so bias. The one instance Kobe shoots over a smaller guard Jarrett Jack you put like size 75 font to point that out. Jordan shoots over smaller opposition in almost every play (Dumars, Russell, Thomas, Starks). How the hell are those guys more athletic when Kobe is shooting over guys like Patterson, Bowen, Diaw, etc who are all taller than Kobe and have long wingspans.
And the Bad Boys Defense got the best of Jordan 3 years in a row. Some how people forget about that.
both incredibly clutch. but if i gotta pick, of course im taking jordan. he just plain shot a higher percentage and had a higher scoring average. how do u go against that?
Wow look at all the obvious Kobe haters. I don't even think the comparison between him an Mj is close. Mj is better. End of story. But Kobe is one of the most clutch of all time. He has a ton of clutch playoff shots and wait a minute...how many? 5 rings? That's not too shabby even if he isn't jordan.
heres the difference, kobe hits his game winners in the regular season, while jordan hit his game winners when it mattered the most in the playoffs and the finals.
@theraVen27 I think u have to be really ignorant to say that..kobe is getting old and all the people know it, comparing them will always be useless. the closest person who can compare them is phil jackson, and still he said before that kobe is more skilled than jordan. jordan had better results than kobe, also diferent team and diferent situations, thats nba and i think u dnt have any argument to disagree that kobe in the last moments of A MATCH can deliver better than jordan,nt saying hes bettr
a Kobe fan would think somebody is ignorant for stating facts.
Everyone gets old, usually they get better and smarter over time like Steve Nash. He said that in 08 when the NBA was telling u Kobe was the best ever (jersey sales go way up)
Jordan played against more physical, smarter, better coached teams. Your telling me tony Kucoach is a better player than Pau, Bynum, or even Walton?
in the last moments you can expect kobe to shoot 20 and make 3.
@theraVen27 i only said that comparing them is useless cos nobody know what would had happened if kobe was in the jordan skin and vice versa. nobody can guarantee what would had happened. im a kobe fan (but not a blind kobe fan) and i say that kobe is more clutch than jordan in the close matches, but i recognized in my first comment that MJ is the best player ever and he always will, nobody cant argue that. in a lakers vs bulls (95-96) finals, bulls would have won 4-0
Jordan and Kobe made a lot of clutch shots, offensive and defensive plays in their career. Jordan is more consistent in clutch, but the kind of things Kobe has done in clutch are just insane.
Ok let's get this straight, Kobe is the best ever clutch player in the game and always will be. Phil Jackson who coached them both said that Kobe is a better player in an interview.
Actually Phil has only said Kobe had better skills, but Phil also said MJ's greatness will never be superseded and MJ is in his own stratosphere and Kobe along with others cannot compare to him because it is unfair
I can show you link to all of it, it is clear Kobe is an inferior player after his failure to deliver in the maverick's series, no sense of urgency, and scoring like 17 points and 38% in an elimination game and blown out by 36 points
better ball handling skills doesn't make you Kobe more clutch than Jordan. Jordan is better than Kobe in terms of putting the ball through the hoop, especially in the Finals. Kobe lost two Finals series (once with Shaq as the face of the franchise and two other All Stars). Jordan never lost when it mattered most, and he was the face of the franchise even if he is playing alongside two other All Stars.
In the 7th minute you can see what I mean...Dumars. who was a great defender against Jordan places both his hands on Michael forcing him to give his back towards the basket before he can attack...
Neutral Fans: That guy Kobe is something else, but Lebron is a beast too.
Past Pro players: Kobe's the best in the League.
Owners/Coaches.: Kobe's the best, killer instinct.
Michael Jordan: Who's better between Kobe and Lebron? Kobe.
Phil Jackson: Lebron is a paint presence and threat, he can also pass but that will fade away in time. Kobe's skill set is unparalleled. He is just as clutch as MJ with better Ball skills.
Jordan faced harder defenses because of taking the pull up jump shot with one defender on him, he wants to get closer to the paint and dribbles into multiple defenders. Where as Kobe having confidence in his jump shot he takes a few dribbles and just fades on you. 2ndly Kobe plays against much better athletes than Jordan did.
@PesoMediaMovement so being "athletic" makes you autmatically a better defender? lmao. any reasonable person with bball knowledge know guys like rose, josh smith, jj hickson, amare are not as good of defenders as unathletic guys such as bowen, battier, ron artest. Not to mention Dan MAJERLE was 2nd team all defense in 1993. Get your facts straight. Guys like vernon maxwell, gary payton, joe dumars, and stacey augmon were tenacious defenders that were allowed to hand check on the perimeter.
@dmun5587red123 no simply being more athletic doesn't make you a better defender but it sure does helps, and it sure doesn't hurt. You can talk about Dan Marley being on how ever many defensive teams that doesn't change that Kob, especially in his prime would do away with players of his caliber easily. As far as intangibles go Michael jumped higher than Kobe & might have been a step quicker, BUT THATS IT. Dont talk to me about FG% when one player takes more that 50% of his shots from the paint
@espdemon he hit more game winners because he took more shots... kobe only knows how to shoot in the clutch; jordan is more clutch for this reason, he knew that during crunch time defense would focus on him and that he could use that to his advantage by sometimes being a decoy to help a team mate get open or get the game winning assist
@espdemon he has hit more, but has taken and missed waaaay more. same with points scored in playoffs. kobe might finish with more total points, but that's based on total games played. in the same span of years, MJ smokes kobe in points PER GAME. MJ has made plenty more clutch shots, passes, and steals in the PLAYOFFS AND NBA FINALS.
@Didayone.. Who's raging? You're the one cursing at a complete stranger not me. I've seen magic, larry and Dr. J play live.. I've seen jordans whole career. Jordan benefited from a watered down NBA in the 90's. Jordan has no rings in the 80s for a reason.
You put all the arrows when the defense is in Jordan's face but you don't put them when Bryant makes shots with people in his face, you're clearly bias.
Shut the fuck up, stop whoring Kobe. MJ is more clutch than Kobe. Also, the guy even admits he's bias. This is HIS opinion.
Also, I'm no Jordan whore, I'm a Laker fan and I love Kobe. I've been a fan for years, in fact, I've actually seen Jordan play. I don't know about you, but no need to rage.
@didayone Hall of Fame players who never became champions in Jordan's era:
John Stockton, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, Reggie Miller, Chris Mullin, and the list goes on and on. Olajuwon, Drexler and David Robinson were lucky because Jordan retired prematurely.
Mediocre players who became champions in Kobe's prime: 2004 Detroit Pistons.
@calugcug21 Maybe 2008 and 2010 but No way in hell Detroit of 04 is gonna beat The 2009 Lakers, Kobe was still healthy they Had Ariza in my opinion much better than artest, Gasol, and Bynum, it would be a good series but Detroit would lose that 09 team was just remarkable too bad they gave away Ariza .
@calugcug21 I think it was close, though they had Malone and Gary Payton they just werent feelin the Finals they werent intense enough and Kobe was still maturing and Shaq was done and on his way to South Beach, yet i still think 09 Lakers were the best one yet and were better than the 04 Lakers and definetly would have beaten the 04 Pistons (IMO) .
dude its fucken funny how u only put arrows on every defender on jordan some not even close.... and kobe has about 2-3 defenders at times and u only mark one arrow.. fucken idiot. they are both the best of there era no arguments there. we can all say there is more talent in the nba now.
Kobe is not even close to being most clutch this year being compared to a player thats consider most clutch alltime. Not even a debate. Nice video though.
Many Kobe plays look more defended because Jordan either elevates so high over defenders and hangs to get what he wants or he's so fast that he can pick his spot and get away from the defender, whereas Kobe was not as fast and had to make more difficult defended shots in many cases. It made Kobe look great!! But the reality is that Jordan has top-of-the-lone floor IQ, speed, quick elevation and hang time so he just made it easier on himself.
The only reason Kobe is as good as he is, is because he studied Jordan like a final exam. Without Jordan a lot of players now adays wouldnt be as good as they are. Real Talk.
Uses samples from Phil's book in 2004 to state that Kobe isnt clutch TODAY.
Those stats are incomplete and dont mean shit. Plus he never really puts anyone ahead of him. On the list of those good FG% clutch shooters, you find the likes of RASHARD LEWIS and SHAWN MARION. Yeah the list is perfect evidence to prove that Kobe isn't really clutch.
@qyxzz so your argument is that marion and lewis cannot possibly have a higher fg% than kobe bryant in clutch situations simply because their names aren't kobe bryant??
abbot has presented a wide range of stats to support his conclusion, have you? please read the article, the stats are compiled from the last 15 seasons, it's all clearly spelled out there, and you obviously haven't taken the time to read it, you've just made baseless assumptions to form your conclusion...
@idiotslikeyou My argument is that how can the list be taken seriously when there the likes of Marion and Lewis there. Both of them have higher FG% then Kobe, I dare you to use the list as proof those 2 are better in the clutch than Bryant lol
Now, I've read the article and it's nothing but stat manipulation, to bash Kobe - something that Abbott's sorry career was built from. It won't fit to one comment, so let me explain why.
"Over Bryant's career, 11 teams have had better crunch time offenses, led by the Hornets with a shocking 107 points per 100 possessions in crunch time, a huge credit to Chris Paul. "
Wait, what? Kobe has been in the league for 15 years, Paul is in the middle of his, ehh what? 6th? Yet throughout KOBE'S CAREER, Hornets, are much better in the clutch, thanks to Chris Paul. How can this be valid to support anything?
@idiotslikeyou His list covers smth like 2003-2009. Funny, cause since the start of 09 Kobe is 11/22 in those clutch situations. He also changes his criteria from "gw shot last 24 seconds'" to "Less than 5 min left, score within 5", in the middle of his stupid article, no indication of that.
So basicly, hes an amateur stat geek. Stats can be manipulated to prove almost anything.
BTW, this year, Kobe leads non-point guards in margin produced in the clutch. But nvm, he bricked some shots
i think kobe made more dificults shot.,and about on the defenders.,sometimes we have to observe on how good and hard they defended the player.,kobe made more dificult shots cause he was defended very well..but still im an mj fan!
I would not only concentrate on made shots and good plays but rather on the failure in the clutch. Kobe has failed to make the right decision quite often.
Most of these arrows for defensive pressure were pretty crappy. 3/4 of the players just jump to attempt, but when it comes down to it, its up to the person who is guarding him one on one. Both have the mentality where you don't even notice other people, just break the man guarding you down and pull up for the shot. Since when has a second person jumping AFTER MJ or Kobe has already pulled up, ever affected their shot? Both have CONFIDENCE. That's what makes them great.
MJ not only has higher FG%, and also has higher ppg. If you remove MJ's last 2 seasons and KB's first 2 seasons, their ppg will be 31 vs. 27, and their FG% will be 51% vs. 46%, also MJ is better in rebs, asts, stls, blks, any stat you can name. Also MJ is the top 14 player who has least turnover rate in NBA history, also the most effective player in history, not only offense differ MJ and KB.
And in playoffs, KB is not close to MJ at all. KB can't score high against tough defense in playoffs.
You're watching 90s basketball not the pussified era now, there was pushing and shoving everywhere, this type of stuff went both ways, why did you not mention reggie miller with the game winning 3 pointer push on Jordan in the playoffs huh?
It's because you don't know shit about basketball, that's why
Yes Kobe owns Jordan on being overrated, let's look at offense, MJ 30.1 ppg 50% with 10 scoring champs vs Kobe's 25+ and 45% with 2 scoring titles, let's look at defense MJ has 1 DPOY, 3 steal titles, 200/100 block/steal seasons 3 times...Kobe has never accomplished any of them, MJ 33-34 ppg in the playoffs, what about Kobe?" LMFAO i can't type kobe's number because it's a joke,
Mvps? Kobe has 1 mvp and 2 finals mvp, MJ has 5 mvp and 6 finals mvp and he retired in his prime..

@KingJames1871 you see man you're just Kobe biased, you hate Kobe so you're gonna point out the negatives without mentioning the positives, and by accolades i mean League MVP, team leading scoring, Starting All-Star game, Played in the Olympics, stuff like that that both players achieved, I believe Jordan is best FOR NOW, but up and coming talent just has to tell that you he won't be the best forever. and if you say Kobe isn't better than Russell then you're saying Jordan isn't either
datnoticboi 4 months ago
@datnoticboi Part 1: It's not that I hate Kobe, it's his fans who I hate. I'm not talking about all Kobe fans of course, I'm a Kobe fan myself, he's a phenomenal player and i love watching him play. I just can't stand the ignorant Kobe fanboys (Kobetards) who put him on a level with Jordan and put him ahead of superior players, with better legacies. Kobe has a lot of accolades that Jordan has, except Jordan dwarfs him in quantity, plus Kobe doesn't have a DPOY or any steals titles.
KingJames1871 4 months ago
KingJames1871 4 months ago
@KingJames1871 Kobe is maybe top 20? dude, barkley was ranked 20th best player ever at one point. Kobe is at LEAST, top 5. i dont ever wanna hear that shit again. Kobe has 5 rings and he pent his PRIME with SMUSH and KWAME. dumb ass.
KOBEandCAMBRIA24 3 months ago
@KOBEandCAMBRIA24 Arguing with a Kobetard is absolutely pointless, I've given up on trying to get through to people like you. Kobe's nowhere near top 5 you dumb fuck. Now I'm sure you'll reply back with some retarded fanboy argument like 5 rings, or 81 points, so I'll just say this, no matter what criteria you use (rings, stats, accolades, dominance of era, innovation, impact on the game, etc.), you can't make an argument for Kobe being top 5.

Great video.
TheJesseGladSaget 4 months ago
@TheJesseGladSaget that is a great point! definitely something i will use in future arguments but it's not necessarily a bad thing Kobe would go for the 3, maybe it's part of the pressure of playing for LA you have to make it "dramatic" lol
datnoticboi 4 months ago
@datnoticboi
Kobe has had hero-worship syndrome his entire career, so instead of opting for the more manageable play, he HAS to shoot the much more difficult shot, which has lent to his shitty clutch percentages in his long, illustrious career as an overrated shot-jacker.
TheJesseGladSaget 4 months ago
Not taking anything from MJ but Kobez made much much tougher game winners. Their both crazy clutch but Kobe faces tougher competition & makes wayyy crazier shots.
jkang24 5 months ago
@jkang24 no kobe didn't face tougher competition, MJ face lots of obstacle more, changing era and player, MJ face 80's stars like james worthy, isiah, magic, bird mchale,perish,rodman,dumars.., 90's stars like ewing, mourning, hardaway, kemp, payton, oakley, drexler, barkley, shaq, malon, stockton, miller ,olajuwon,.....both 90' and 2k's stars like iverson, duncan, nash, hill, shaq, mutombo, webber, garnet, kidd,

kobe is more clutch. he makes tougher shots against better defense. best closer ever
bhwre 6 months ago
@bhwre Lol what? MJ never lost in the NBA finals and shot 57% on game winners for his career. Kobe has lost twice in the finals, was the leader of the Lakers in 3 of their 4 biggest playoff losses in history, and shot 28% on his career game winners. He also only has 1 50 point playoff game, while MJ has 8.
Of Kobe's top 20 games, only 8 of them have come against a team with a winning record. For Jordan, 15 came against winning teams.
Kobe's more clutch my ass. Better competition? Yeah right.
boredfun91 5 months ago
wow jordan did not face better defense he just faced more physical play against him which everyone knows kobe can play against there wasnt players back in the 80s that were drafted to the nba that specialize in defense like it is today in some shots jordan made that you just showed on your video the defender didnt even put there hands up to even defend the shot or even put a hand in his face to mess his vision of the basket which they really didnt do.
TheYoshibeast1 6 months ago

Even at his best, Pippen was never a natural, dependable scorer

hurstparis 7 months ago 3
@rebirth34789q ok well if u look at the 4th quarter scoring in the finals, for say karl malone, its not even close to michael jordans, because its much tougher to get a bucket on dennis rodman in the 4th, then it is byron russel or jeff hornaceck, and even an injured pippen can deal with byron russel and jeff, i mean hes 6'7, and their like 6'1 and 6'5, the bulls defense was top 3 defense of all time, they shut u down in the 4th, and then they had the best player in the league
Iwilju2 7 months ago
@rebirth34789q Yea disagree 90% is a bit of an exaggeration. 50-60% is more like it. And being that this is basketball, a team sport, 50% for one man out of 12 is huge number. That's why i can't accept your 90. There were other players involved in those championship runs.
AJVersatility19 7 months ago
@rebirth34789q But you gotta understand that stats can be deceiving sometimes. Who cares how many steals or blocks he got..he's never been a great blocker but when it comes to stopping his opponent 1 on 1 he makes it happen. He stops his opponents from putting the ball in the basket. THATS DEFENSE. & I completely agree that he does take too many shot in alot of games & shoots inconsistently. But you can't try to take away his accomplishment. He's made a career out of taking & making tough shots
jkang24 7 months ago
I don't know how anybody can claim that 1 is more clutch. Their both proven defenders, consistency, all though I must say when Kobe gets it going scoring wise he's pretty much on his own level. I mean 4 straight 50+(thats 60, 50, 65, 50) MJ had 3 straight 50+, Kobe 9 straight 40+, 60,61,65, & 62 in 3! Not to mention 81. But their both amazingly clutch. & they both WIN! Their both at the top & noone else even comes close.
jkang24 7 months ago
@rebirth34789q Well you're knocking on Pippen's offensive ability, disregarding that his role was defense. Yea his FG was low, yea he wasn't an all star, but he was a great defender with his length and versatility, and was a major contributor in the championships. Same with Dennis Rodman, his role was defense and rebounding and such, and there's no way MJ did all those by himself. Fuck outta here.
AJVersatility19 7 months ago

jordan had a way to get rid of the defenders. His first step was so fast they could not stop themselves when he took his jump shot. It was simple as that; they had too much momentum and commitment when they try to follow jordan. MJ was just fast, and he did not miss his jump shots.

Michael is the GOAT, and is better in the clutch. But I think Kobe Bryant is probably the closest we'll ever get to another Jordan.
JBrewer4386 8 months ago
The true test in the clutch is during the playoffs. Where the defense is at its highest intensity against the NBA's top teams. Shooting is also not the only definition of the word. Basketball still involves passing, defending, hustle, etc... and all of these can be clutch plays. Not even a flu could stop MJ in the clutch in the finals. As for Kobe, most of the time he just tries too hard: watch?v=HLMZOVsyw1g
jp3813 8 months ago 15
@jp3813 but realize that kobe has had nore physical injuries
hurstparis 7 months ago
@hurstparis That's debatable b/c MJ often played while injured. Ever since he was sidelined for 64 games back in '86, he's been hiding his injuries. But that's got nothing to do w/ what I just said. This is about clutch in the playoffs, and I think Kobe is 0 for 5 in his last game winning attempts. He needs to try more clutch passes instead of just shooting all the time. His teammates are good enough.
jp3813 7 months ago
@jp3813 i mean when u think about it, kobe has already played longer than jordan has and so based on the long year he has played he's more tired then when jordan came back in his 30's,. but the fact still remains that although he might have missed the last 5clutch shots, not forget jordan has missed several gamewinners also,. so it still becomes a debatable discussion due to both of them bein great players in general, and they always been the person to take the shots for the team their own,,..
hurstparis 7 months ago
@hurstparis Actually, they're currently only 31 regular season games apart. Also consider that Kobe was a bench player in his first few seasons. If you want numbers though, in game-tying or game-winning shots under 24 seconds in the playoffs, MJ is 9 of 18 (50%) and Kobe is currently 7 of 25 (28%). In one stretch from 2002 to 2004 (during his prime), the latter had 8 straight misses. And a new streak is currently at hand. The former had three straight misses at most late in his career.
jp3813 7 months ago
@hurstparis Kobe has missed 22 clutch shots in the playoffs overall, MJ only 9 so how is this debateable again?????

kobeisraw2424 8 months ago
@kobeisraw2424 How is Kobe the best in clutch? ESPN Stats & Information's Alok Pattani dug through 15 years of NBA data -- Bryant's entire career, regular season and playoffs -- and found that Bryant has attempted 115 shots in the final 24 seconds of a game in which the Lakers were tied or trailed by two or fewer points. He connected on 36, and missed 79 times. That's 31.3%. He has more than twice as many misses than makes. On game winners, Jordan connected on 33 of 58 attempts (56.9%).
gmn545 8 months ago
@gmn545 Those stats from Jordan's day aren't as accurate as those of today.
EliasJordan3 8 months ago
@EliasJordan3 What? It's not like Jordan played in the 60's. All the stat-categories (including the advanced ones, pace (per possession), etc.) are accounted for, when it comes to both Kobe and Jordan's career.
gmn545 8 months ago
@kobeisraw2424 YOU DON'T KNOW BASKETBALL FOOL! Jordan is the best!
stockmaster1982 8 months ago

RofhMichaels 9 months ago
@RofhMichaels
a Kobe fan would think somebody is ignorant for stating facts.
Kobe isn't even close
theraVen27 9 months ago
@theraVen27 i only said that comparing them is useless cos nobody know what would had happened if kobe was in the jordan skin and vice versa. nobody can guarantee what would had happened. im a kobe fan (but not a blind kobe fan) and i say that kobe is more clutch than jordan in the close matches, but i recognized in my first comment that MJ is the best player ever and he always will, nobody cant argue that. in a lakers vs bulls (95-96) finals, bulls would have won 4-0
RofhMichaels 9 months ago
@RofhMichaels
stating facts in one comment doesn't cover for bullshit in another.
"The greatest clutch player in the history of the game" doesn't shoot under 40% in the playoffs or the finals especially.
Last year the Lakers beat Kobe and the celtics to win that last game.
This year Kobe beat the lakers and handed a free nexty round pass to the mavs.

@xtHeFrEsHeStKiD21x
Actually Phil has only said Kobe had better skills, but Phil also said MJ's greatness will never be superseded and MJ is in his own stratosphere and Kobe along with others cannot compare to him because it is unfair
I can show you link to all of it, it is clear Kobe is an inferior player after his failure to deliver in the maverick's series, no sense of urgency, and scoring like 17 points and 38% in an elimination game and blown out by 36 points

djwezzy100 10 months ago
better ball handling skills doesn't make you Kobe more clutch than Jordan.

Elpoko09 10 months ago
Jordan faced harder defenses because of taking the pull up jump shot with one defender on him, he wants to get closer to the paint and dribbles into multiple defenders. Where as Kobe having confidence in his jump shot he takes a few dribbles and just fades on you. 2ndly Kobe plays against much better athletes than Jordan did.
PesoMediaMovement 10 months ago
@PesoMediaMovement so being "athletic" makes you autmatically a better defender? lmao. any reasonable person with bball knowledge know guys like rose, josh smith, jj hickson, amare are not as good of defenders as unathletic guys such as bowen, battier, ron artest. Not to mention Dan MAJERLE was 2nd team all defense in 1993. Get your facts straight. Guys like vernon maxwell, gary payton, joe dumars, and stacey augmon were tenacious defenders that were allowed to hand check on the perimeter.
dmun5587red123 10 months ago
@dmun5587red123 no simply being more athletic doesn't make you a better defender but it sure does helps, and it sure doesn't hurt. You can talk about Dan Marley being on how ever many defensive teams that doesn't change that Kob, especially in his prime would do away with players of his caliber easily. As far as intangibles go Michael jumped higher than Kobe & might have been a step quicker, BUT THATS IT. Dont talk to me about FG% when one player takes more that 50% of his shots from the paint

@espdemon he hit more game winners because he took more shots... kobe only knows how to shoot in the clutch; jordan is more clutch for this reason, he knew that during crunch time defense would focus on him and that he could use that to his advantage by sometimes being a decoy to help a team mate get open or get the game winning assist
alfeovictor 11 months ago
@espdemon he has hit more, but has taken and missed waaaay more. same with points scored in playoffs. kobe might finish with more total points, but that's based on total games played. in the same span of years, MJ smokes kobe in points PER GAME.
This video is silly and doesn't prove anything.

both great players! i would trust any of these two guys to shoot the last shot!!!
fablake1 1 year ago
in my opinion of my team was down by 2, i'd definitely have jordan take the last shot, but if my team was down by 3 and needed a 3, i'd choose kobe.

I agree with true call. Jordan opened up a new way of basketball kobe followed.

I will take Phil Jackson's opinion over all the NumbSkulls Youtuber like you. "Kobe is as good as MJ in clutch" v=F0dLxjd9ewk
noformstyle 1 year ago
The only reason Kobe is as good as he is, is because he studied Jordan like a final exam. Without Jordan a lot of players now adays wouldnt be as good as they are. Real Talk.

Please google the article 'The truth about Kobe Bryant in crunch time' by John Abbott on ESPN.com
idiotslikeyou 1 year ago
@idiotslikeyou
Isn't that idiot's name Henry Abbott?
Uses samples from Phil's book in 2004 to state that Kobe isnt clutch TODAY.
Those stats are incomplete and dont mean shit. Plus he never really puts anyone ahead of him. On the list of those good FG% clutch shooters, you find the likes of RASHARD LEWIS and SHAWN MARION. Yeah the list is perfect evidence to prove that Kobe isn't really clutch.
qyxzz 1 year ago

It won't fit to one comment, so let me explain why.
qyxzz 1 year ago
@idiotslikeyou
How can this be valid to support anything?
qyxzz 1 year ago
@idiotslikeyou His list covers smth like 2003-2009. Funny, cause since the start of 09 Kobe is 11/22 in those clutch situations. He also changes his criteria from "gw shot last 24 seconds'" to "Less than 5 min left, score within 5", in the middle of his stupid article, no indication of that.
So basicly, hes an amateur stat geek. Stats can be manipulated to prove almost anything.
BTW, this year, Kobe leads non-point guards in margin produced in the clutch. But nvm, he bricked some shots

AAAAAAAND michael jordan was known for his fadeaway dipshit

and way to make your video biased. no sound on kobe's shots, no negative comments on jordan's shots. no comments about jordan's defenders

Who really cares who's more clutch? They're both doing pretty well.

I think kobe is just because he has more game winner and a longer range for his clutch shots...but mj is super clutch too i just think kobe is more
blaccmamba24 1 year ago
@blaccmamba24 MJ had better defenders on him.

Mj greatest. Nuff said. Kobe is only an imitator. No Jordan=no Kobe

there is nothing wrong on imitating.,if kobe imitates mj.,it only means he can do what mj can do.,.,im also a fan of mj.

if u are compare whos more clutch (MJ OR KB) the answer would be....
ME!
Rytul4 1 year ago
I would not only concentrate on made shots and good plays but rather on the failure in the clutch. Kobe has failed to make the right decision quite often.
triklops 1 year ago
Most of these arrows for defensive pressure were pretty crappy. 3/4 of the players just jump to attempt, but when it comes down to it, its up to the person who is guarding him one on one. Both have the mentality where you don't even notice other people, just break the man guarding you down and pull up for the shot. Since when has a second person jumping AFTER MJ or Kobe has already pulled up, ever affected their shot? Both have CONFIDENCE. That's what makes them great.
AlxWynn 1 year ago
MJ not only has higher FG%, and also has higher ppg. If you remove MJ's last 2 seasons and KB's first 2 seasons, their ppg will be 31 vs. 27, and their FG% will be 51% vs. 46%, also MJ is better in rebs, asts, stls, blks, any stat you can name. Also MJ is the top 14 player who has least turnover rate in NBA history, also the most effective player in history, not only offense differ MJ and KB.
And in playoffs, KB is not close to MJ at all. KB can't score high against tough defense in playoffs.

You made this video cause? 1.Ur a kb hater 2. Riding jordans dick 3. Cant stand the fact kb24 is better than mj

Kobe owns Jordan anytime.

@nasoszeppos
You're watching 90s basketball not the pussified era now, there was pushing and shoving everywhere, this type of stuff went both ways, why did you not mention reggie miller with the game winning 3 pointer push on Jordan in the playoffs huh?
It's because you don't know shit about basketball, that's why
Hawkhunter07 1 year ago
@nasoszeppos
