What was thinking also.... Have you read Desmond Wilcox's and Esther Rantzen's autobiography? In it, mention is made of a presenter so annoyed about the goings-on in his earpiece that he takes it out of his ear and TREADS ON IT! Also, remember Mike Scott when he introduced "The Time, The Place" on ITV? He talks somewhere (I forget where) that he "was originally on TV when earpieces weren't worn, was regularly asked to wear one on this show, but would regularly chuck (his) away"!

sure. no to the earpiece.
i'm guessing,but the earpiece removal is probably due to banal chatter from the gallery.
