  • Climate extremes, including devastating floods, severe droughts, snowstorms, heatwaves and cold waves, were recorded in many parts of the world.

This year the extreme warm events were more frequent and intense in southern South America, Australia and southern Asia, in particular.

  • good vid, but the fire ball thing isn't realistic though.

  • There is a 95% probability global temperatures will rise MORE than 3.5C (6.3F) by 2100.

    MIT News, May 19, 2009

Research, conducted by MIT and published in the American Meteorological Society's JOURNAL OF CLIMATE, predicts a median probability that worldwide surface temperatures will RISE 5.2 degrees Celsius (9.3F) by the year 2100.

  • We're ALL GOING to DIE!!!!

  • climate change is inevitable. human greed partly due to desirable nessecasity has rose this climate factor significantly along with poulation. theres no escaping this however impact could be delayed but not deleted. a saying of a noble man was that at the day of destruction the sun would be like 70 times closer and indeed at least we are to perish one day and these signs freak me out however atleast delayed the process

  • so far we've rising 0.5 C

  • Great video, thank you.

  • This video was about 2001. More than 7 years have passed and we sure have not cut our CO2 emissions by 90%

  • This video is from 2007. New research shows that the IPCC findings have been way too conservative in their estimates about man-made climate change. To avoid runaway climate change the developed world need to cut greenhouse gas emissions with 40% from 1990 levels by 2020. And so far no one is showing the leadership that is required.

  • I heartily agree but didn't understand the point about the fireballs. What's that about?

  • what is the music called ??

  • Good movie, the fire ball thingkind of ruined it though...

  • this music goes along just soooo well its so chilling! really great job. it makes it like some eerie nightmare that already happened and the world is over...scary! :-0 but about the message, we REALLY do need to make changes about global warming. I'm in college and still dont have my drivers lisence because i dont WANT to drive and release more CO2 emissions. i want to make changes, and i wish that the US government would give more of a damn... :(

  • AHH! how is a 3c of warming the "tipping point"? i don't get it.

  • The tipping point in the study of the Earth's changing climate is the point at which change due to human activity brings about sufficient new processes in nature to make any human reversal of the change impossible.

  • it is quite scary but i think it is too late because as the video said 3c is the tipping point so in about 50 years time we proberly would have risen 3c. no one is gonna cut co2 emissions down by 90%. when the earth rises by 6 degrees we would already be dead.

  • It's not too late, yet! We can still make it, but we need action now. We have the technology and resources needed. We only lack political will.

  • Total bullshit. "Act Now" like uh?? Jump up and down? Stop driving? pay a Carbon tax? Eat cows? don't eat cows? What?

  • hey zko do you think that Hiding under the ground would help in surviving rain of fireballs? And do you think humanrace can still go on even if the temperature is 6 degrees more?

  • Hiding under the ground will not help. :P The last question is hard to answer. I guess some small pockets of humans will be able to survive. But they will not have any kind of luxury technology that we are used to. They will probably live like cavemen.. No one really knows how an future 6 degrees warmer than now will be like. We dont know how world leaders will react when they face billions of climate refugees, water and food shortages etc.

  • DUDE WE ALL RECYCLE, we arent the ones who should act its the companies and the government who should end warehouse pollution we cant do anything and besides if it happens its gunna happen we will all die anyways

  • Like Andrew Simms, policy director and head of the climate change programme at NEF, said when they started the new campaign One Hundred Months: "Now it is time for the government to lead, and do its best to make sure that neither a bang, nor a whimper ends the show."

  • good answer, but no matter what Andrew Simms says the government will do anything as long as the companies have money to back it up. Because every politician is corrupt in they're own way.

  • This is based on IPCC numbers and that is a U.N. organization and as such is not to be believed. Look at what the U.N. said about

Iraq and WMD's. The U.N. was one of George Bush's Intel sources was it not?

  • "The U.N. was one of George Bush's Intel sources was it not?" No, they weren't. You have gotten that way wrong. Bush made up the so-called evidence himself and NEVER had the approval of the UN to invade Iraq.

  • Then how come Britan is in Iraq

  • Because they are allied with the USA.

  • hey zk0 what do you mean by fireballs will rain on us?I dont get it because i thought that after the addition of 6 degrees in the temperature, earth will return into a cretaceous era

  • Read the description of the video..

  • its too late hahaha thats what you get for been mindless sheep following fashion and the great american con job (the american dream) failing to ever think and question by yourself . its BBQ time soon for all you sheep and its to late to cry about what you have already done.. great video by the way :)

  • fantastic eye opener. we should start.act.now. tomorrow will be 2 late.

  • Interesting predictions. Where is the evidence?

  • Read the description of the video..

  • 6C whe will die

  • i will make a difference my future generations shall not be gunned by fireballs

  • Beautifully produced--any idea who is the sound-track by?

  • It's not the extremes of temperature that worry me, it's the proloinged periods of higher and dryer conditions that are now becoming prevelant

  • Well, according to the date the video is added, we now have less 6 years to reduce our CO2.

  • Yes, time is running out quickly.

  • awesome, that video was a piece of brilliance, u have me really scared about climate change, all i need is the will to act

  • awesome vid really opens your eyes to whats going on

  • You Are Right!! Is Is Predicted That if this continues,6degrees will happen in 2150.I Hope Earth Will Stay 4Eva =)

  • I believe humanity will extint anyhow. Nothing lasts forever

  • That doesn't meen we should give up.

  • Homo Sapians will be extinct when we evolve into the next stage. Much like Homo Erectus became extinct when we came about.

  • Thanks for this video. Quitting meat is the most efficient mean to reduce methane emissions. So journalist we wait for you to play your role !

  • methane is 23 times effective than CO2 make global warming

    quit eatting meat...

  • I don't really get it. can someone explain to me how fireballs would shoot down from the sky?

  • Okay, I'll explain it one last time for the poeple who cant read the description of the video, or older comments: FIREBALLS = Methane hydrate explosions "could destroy terrestrial life almost entirely". Acting much like today's fuel-air explosives (or "vacuum bombs"), major oceanic methane eruptions could release energy equivalent to 10,000 times the world's stockpile of nuclear weapons.

  • Dear ZK0

thank you for posting this video,

I've read related paper with this info,

and i'd like to share with other this film.

Did you make this video yourself? Can I copy and distribute it with your permission?

    Thanks a lot.

  • Sure, you can copy/link it as much as you like. :)

  • I WILL try to stop Global warming and i have a way

  • poor all of us!!:(

  • i dont want to do the math but,

how many degrees of farenheit wud increase, proportionlly to the increase of 0 degrees celsius, to 1 degrees celsius?

  • why this keeps happening? its because of the MONEY, thats right, the POWER OF MONEEEY... think about it...

  • im sure were all fucked the human race and everything else will destroy itself

    goodbye everyone

  • Wanna know how the permian extinction happened? Siberian Traps erupted. that released the methane hydrates. The hydrates went KABOOM, and there were many many other going-ons that nearly made the planet as dead as Mars.

  • o my gosh. dis junk iss soo imortant someone needs to broadcast this to the worldd

  • all of the cars should just be running with electricity instead of gas..

  • The earth was never made for people. Spirit thought forms pushed there self into apes and broke away from god. In return, god made it extremely difficult for your soul to return to him, we are stuck on this planet through reincarnation until you figure it out. Basically put: people ruined this planet and will continue to.

  • thats why I dont like god, they fuck us up in the first place and you guys still believe in him or her

  • this scares the shit out of me. i stil dont get how gobal warming works but doest relly matter. i think even if the this changes occur in this planet, human and all the other spices are desinged to adopted to this changes. And if we are to die we will die but some form of life will contine to live on earth. but i still think we should stop global warming. everybody wants to live right. maybe its time to test just how much do you want to live and how far would you go to live. god see's.

  • zk0, Great vid...very informative. I only wish more ppl saw it the way we do. Where'd you get the music?

  • u g0tZz a go0D p0Int so0o ..... iF dIz hApPenS iM so0o h0pinG dAt ill B aLive !!

  • yeh we will die so wats da point enjoy what we have eat all the meat while its still there

  • im going to play video games 24/7 from now on!!!! down with the human species!!!

  • i think this process will be unstoppable.

so lets just enjoy the remaining time and than put an end to this autodestructive speciey called human.

buy bigger cars, buy more transportation dependent foods.buy more wood made stuff.and so on have pleasure.

  • These things are just theories. No one knows FOR sure that these things will happen, or have happened. One should try to DO something. Focus on a lifestyle change. A hybrid? Where did the energy come from to make the hydrogen? That energy could have been used to heat a home. Its a trade-off. To make that 'energy efficient car' do you know how much fuel was used to simply just make the car? To extract the metal? A better solution is to ride the bus, but this is not glitzed up or glamorized. Think

  • OMFG 0_o Fireballs gonna rain down from the sky? That's scary.

  • Hey, heres a thought: get off our asses, leave the computer for a while, kill anyone who starts any type of war-like movement, stop sitting aroun waiting for it to become too late, and actually DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

  • It's a very good message. I just don't understand the part that when +6, why would there be fireballs raining from the sky.

  • FIREBALLS = Methane hydrate explosions "could destroy terrestrial life almost entirely". Acting much like today's fuel-air explosives (or "vacuum bombs"), major oceanic methane eruptions could release energy equivalent to 10,000 times the world's stockpile of nuclear weapons.

  • So we all gonna die

  • We will all die one day. But this time we will bring down with us the whole human race (along with other innocent animals, insects etc).

  • May as well start smoking...

  • Take care,

    maybe coming

    Sunsethell...

    Better change now.

  • i was gonna rate this "worth watching" but thats only 3 stars i gave it which is awesome but i dont aGREE w/ awesome sad actually

  • and what do you propose we do about it?

  • reduce the population of the earth to 500,000,000.

  • Overpopulation is a major part of the problem. But we also need to reduce our energy waste and slow down on our crazy western lifestyle. Let's not get this problem out of control where "eco-fascists" will run free and slaughter millions of people in the name of Gaia.

  • there won't be slaughter in the name of gaia, dude.

    only the greenback.

  • Global Warming is no myth, it is here, the time to act is NOW!

  • Too True. I think that this should be put as a commercial so that more people will know at least a little more...

  • nice vid but i dont think a 6 degrees increase can make it rain fireballs.

  • I agree, I think however that we are already in a runaway greenhouse effect, even if we stopped driving gas powered cars cole powered power plants would still exist as a vital part of todays society.

also we have an incoming solar flare in 2012 so the best thing to do now is prepare to live on earth when it turns into a runaway green house

  • Many climate scientists believe we have already passed the point of no return. James Lovelock estimates that by year 2100 there will only be around 500 millions people left who struggles to survive on the few remaining liveable places on earth: Scandinavia, Canada and Iceland. He continues by predicting that the major part of the humans will get wiped out of the face of the earth due to wars, starvation, epidemics and climate chaos during the rest of the century.

  • I predict we fix this shit.

  • yeah well just look on the bright side, we won't be able to mess up any other planets think of how many earth-like planets we would colonize if we ever figured out inter stellar travel

  • Sounds like a biblical thing I heard regarding the apocalypse, that's the first thing that came to mind.

  • whether u beleive it or not, you should still be prepared. this may happen. this doesn't only concern a few people. this is the earth. if we let it happen, or if we even take chances, nothing that's ever happened in anyone's life time will matter. i personally don't beleive it because of my religion. I still say we should prepare our selves, or at least contribute to help prevent it. if we don't try...

what will become of us? is it worth the risk? ask yourselves that!

  • This is sad and there is nothing anybody can do about it its just consume consume consume with people..... another thing to worrie about is plastic bags pretty soon since they are not biodegratable there is going to be to many our marine biosphere is already taking a toll.....

  • What degree is the earth now??

  • We are currently at a 0,7-0,8 degree increase in global temperatures. Scientists believe our only chance is to stop global temperatures from reaching above a 2 degree increase. Today we have 380 ppm of CO2 in our air. If we are to stay on the "safe side" and only have a 2 degree increase of global temperatures we can not reach 400-450 ppm. The amount increases with a minimum of 3-4 ppm every year (according to the most positive reports).

  • I'm not really sure where the thermostat is at or what its set on?

  • lol..umm so yesterday was 31 and tomorrow will be 75..does that mean fireballs will come towards us tomorrow.

    im scared :(

  • Local and global temperatures are completely different. The "fireballs" (Methane hydrate explosions) can come around year 2100.

  • around when do you believe this probleme will start causing problemes?

  • This is a compelling video.

  • being pesimistic won't make it go away either ...

  • the truth of the matter is we will never cut carbon dioxide emissions by 90 percent over the next 7 years. we wont cut it by 1 percent over the next 20 years, in fact we will increase co2 output. people don't understand that whatever needs to be done, cripple the world economy, shut down every major co2 factory in the usa, china and the world. Time is indeed running out and no one really seems to put in the amount of attention that needs to be put in.

  • That is true. We are not cutting down on CO2 emissions at the moment. We are actually increasing our CO2 emissions. Recently EU agreed on a plan of action against climate change. They decided to cut emissions with 20%. But that is far from enough. A 20% cut will result in global temperatures to reach the 3 degree "tipping point" and there will be no turning back.

  • Netherlands will go away due to high sea level :(

  • While some of this may be true i heard someone mention..."I dont look at little information and apply it to mass data" (little data we have on our weather applied to the amount of time the weather has been around) It may be arguable that we dont know anything about our weather, but to deny global warming? Its clear that if there will be no change then we'll all die. Top 10 polluting countries: US China Russia Japan India Germany Canada United Kingdom Italy South Korea
  • Hate to tell ya this pal, but China is now at the top of the list.

  • That is correct. According to research they took the number one position from USA in 2006-2007. It also doesn't really matter if China is the top carbon polluter in the world. They still have a low per capita levels of pollution compared to USA. USA's per capita levels are around five to six times higher than China's. But really, what is your point?

  • Not only is China's Carbon foot print the largest in the world but they are the most polluted nation on earth.

  • Well, studies suggest that China now pollutes the most greenhouse gases. But USA is still a strong number 2. And if you look at per capita greenhouse gas emissions USA is much worse than China.

  • most chinese live in extreme poverty because they have no education and no freedom. China is the most heavily polluted nation on the earth. To make the argument that it is a developing nation is extremely naive. China was a nation long before USA even existed. So why are they still developing? Stupid? Ignorant? Mentally retarded? A nation of tards? Look at per capita GNP and you will also see a correlation. What is the most prevelent green house gas? Do you know?

  • What an ignorant statement.

  • no shit they out number us like 5 to 1 genius

  • And still they have a MUCH lower carbon and ecological footprint than any other country in the West.

  • I wonder what China's carbon footprint would be if they didn't produce 50% of the products for the Western lifestyle.

I'd say we are responsible for a large share of their footprint, and the damage being done to their people and their environment (which is OUR environment as well, as our Ocean and Air is all connected)

There is a big Shift going on now, look for more local production and getting back to understanding our food and growing it ourselves again.

    Educated consumers have the Power.

  • The most important step towards reducing global warming is going vegan or vegetarian. Meat eating is one of the main culprits, because livestock releases a lot of methane and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

  • One of the biggest contributors to global warming is factory farming. Methane from animal shit goes up to our atmosphere where it gets trapped with the rest of the CO2. Nitrates and other compounds from fertilizers and all that shit also create runoff full of contaminates that empty into the groundwater and eventually, the ocean. Please feel free to read the book Animal Factory by Jim Mason. Don't believe the propaganda about meat being good for you. I quit eating dead animals a long time ago.

  • Bravo! Meat needs to be banned! Period.

  • huh lol?

At six degrees fireballs will rain from the sky?

    Oh lol sure XD

  • I'll accept this comment just to explain that you should READ THE DESCRIPTION (to the right) or the first comments BEFORE COMMENTING. Thank you. :)

That u wanted to know?

  • i think what niiidar was confused about was that at 6 degrees it will start raining fire, but what he doesnt understand is that they mean if the overall worldly <--(if thats even a word) temperature changes by this much, in such a small ammount of time, compared to the history of our temperatures, then these things will happen, poor kid, obviously doesnt read descriptions and understand things like this, like zk0 said XD

  • If this dont scare the shit out of Bush, what will?

  • Wow, this is so amazing. Very well put together. Amazing how much effect something such overlooked as a degree can cause. Hasn't it already gone up 1 degree C?

  • Nice video. It's not the earth, it's human. If we are not selfish and out for ourselve, the earth wouldn't be like this.

  • Are resourses on the world is enough?

Ofcourse yes and no!!All is how you will

use these resourses!! If you change world to beautiful then "yes" if you go to bad then"no"!!Choice is yours!!

  • ACT NOW....yeah, like build more nuclear power plants,....which don't contribute to global warming.

  • I believe in global warming, and up to an extent some of those facts are true. But they did tend to get a bit stupid towards the end... Global warming will be drastic and serveer, just not in those ways, and there will not be any fireballs...

Anyway, where would the fireballs come from? ...

  • These are just some of the effects of global warming. There are MANY more. And YES, the fireballs are real, just like all the things listed in the video. Have you taken a look at any of the links posted in the description of the video?

  • FIREBALLS = Methane hydrate explosions "could destroy terrestrial life almost entirely". Acting much like today's fuel-air explosives (or "vacuum bombs"), major oceanic methane eruptions could release energy equivalent to 10,000 times the world's stockpile of nuclear weapons.

  • this is a awsome video i have posted it on my blog

  • Only 2 negative comments on what has become the biggest issue on the planet... sigh...

I read about this in an article, "Sunday Times Magazine" A book was writen on it by an auther whos name I cannot remember :( Do you know who I'm talking about?...

  • I guess you are talking about "Six Degrees: Our Future on a Hotter Planet" by Mark Lynas: marklynas[dot]org/sixdegrees

  • Thank you very much, well appriciated, I asure you!

  • I interpreted the fireball thing as a sarcastic joke against global warming, but never thought that it was serious. They'll say anything these days I guess.

  • Fireballs... Couldn't stop myself from laughing.

  • Yeah I know :) I could have written something like: "Methane hydrate explosions "could destroy terrestrial life almost entirely". Acting much like today's fuel-air explosives (or "vacuum bombs"), major oceanic methane eruptions could release energy equivalent to 10,000 times the world's stockpile of nuclear weapons." - But being a nerd for Utopia I liked this one better ;)

  • You should have used the word "Incinerated" instead of the word "Dead"...
