Also race is a factor. Blacks had 51% higher prevalence of obesity, and Hispanics had 21% higher obesity prevalence compared with whites.

Black women have 39.2% obesity, compared white women 21.8%.

So yes there are more Pamela Andersons (Canadian btw) than Tyra Banks and Selma Hayaks.. lol

And yes MrMellingen is correct obesity is not just high in America. Almost all the developed English speaking nations top the list with the exception of Mexico which is the highest obesity rates in the world.

How Pretensious these videos are, Studies done on health have been both two dimensional and misguided for too long. Is being overweight healthy? no but, the undertone of this segment is that being skinny and inactive is a better alternative. There are naturally skinny individuals who come on videos such as these with contempt who aren't aware that they too are unhealthy as hell. As a Personal Trainer I've seen presumably fit people who couldn't do a push up, don't buy into the hype.

@FitnessGuru1988. Of course that's true, but if you travel to Nordic nations, where people are more active, people are generally quite thin. Those in Northern Europe (which is the "American" we're looking at) are usually more elongated. Asians are a generally a lot more stockier while west Africans tend to be more built or muscular. Point being, if the United States was more fit, we'd be seeing a population that'd definitely be considered skinny. Most Russians and Swedes, while tall, are lanky.

What the nanny-statists don't tell you is that when you take into account the fact that obese people have shorter lifespans, obesity SAVES the country money. Do you honestly think it is cheaper to let these people grow old and use many expensive prescription drugs and get long-term care than it is for them to die in their 60s of heart disease?

What you fail to realize is that the same diet and lifestyle factors that lead to obesity are the same ones that lead to heart disease and cancer. Without diets that are too high in fat, calories, and cancer promoting animal proteins, it is not only possible but probable to live longer without developing either obesity, chronic disease, or needing expensive medications. Eat more plants and whole foods and less meat and dairy. You'll avoid obesity and chronic illness.
