The song is Quutamo by Apocalyptica, which is basically the instrumental version of 'How Far', another song by them featuring Marta Jandova as vocals. There's also a French version of the song (En Vie), and a German version, as well (Wie Weit).

I am not a big fan on yaoi but the anime gets my respect because as an aspiring animator the animation is beyond great and I can guess this was made in the 1990s ish and its not cheesy and lame when it comes to the dramatic and intimate scenes. Simply wonderful.
