Yes there are people who do abuse food stamps. I've been to a store many times where someone will come up to me and offer to sell their foodstamps to me because they want to buy cigarettes or beer. Also I have known women who are married that would go to the welfare office and say " my husband left me" , they receive the foodstamps and all along their husband is still there, working under the table for cash and eating the food that was bought with the ebt card.
