@Zenoandturtle : how does this turn into a talk about communism? I dont sponsor communism how it exists in the world. It creates inequality as much as capitalisme does. Competition as in = requiring or desiring another to loose or be "less" than you is indeed a manifestation of hidden insecurity and an ego desperatly trying to get boost.
@SpamAnn World is canibalistic by nature, life devours life, our goal is to be better than we were created to be. We have to compete in order to live. That is base programming. Everything is programming, does virtue exist? What is virtue? What is good. What is evil? These are taxing questions, you don't want to go deeper, trust me I have - and you may not like the unswer.
What on eath is he talking about! I am not bying that hogwash. We humans are competitive creatures by design, it is in our nature wanting to compete, wanting to win Why -TO BOOST OUR EGOS, we are not some blob jellyfish, we have egos, we want to to be the best. .. to be admired - and that is bad?. . Hold on folks, what a good father should say is, 'give it you best son, play fair, and if you still lose - be gracious, shake hands and live to fight another day.' Cheers everyone and keep winning.
@Zenoandturtle : all your saying is: I obey to my design, I am the perfect slave.
Competition is largely the result of being socialised in a competitive society. IT is only best for a minority, not a majority. Millions have proven they are NOT competitive at all. ITs time to stand up and stop being a slave. A good father gives his son lessons in life to care about all life, not live as an egoistic egodriven slave that only cares for himself and what he likes.
@SpamAnn Slavery comes in many forms, so does competition. Are you saying that you don't try to win when playing a video game (that's a competition)? True, some lost souls deviate from the Aristotle's Golden Medium and take it to the extreme and that is sad, however we become a slave when we stop being competitive - when we no longer challenge impositions to our freedoms of choice. Competition is in our genes but we must use it wisely.
@Zenoandturtle : indeed, when I play a video game I dont try to win. I mostly play video games that dont include winning. When I do, I dont care wether I win or not, I just have fun playing the game. We become free when we stop living out our pre programmed competitive design and learn to see the consequences and think for ourselves. Are you a slave to your genes or what? You do have a brain you know, it can make you think, and see the world around you and the consequences of what you do.
When you play a game with your friends, it is not "bad'. It becomes a fuck up when you desire another to loose for you to feel better. Or when you feel bad for not winning. If you feel the same winning or losing, then there is not a problem. Thats not really competition. Competition I mean is when one sees the loser as inferior/less, and when there is a bad consequence. Obviously, not scoring a goal does not have to include a bad consequence. It can simply be: another one scored a goal, thats it
Ya .though I think even professinal players wouldn't keep playing if it wasn't a little fun. That goes for every kind of Job or Career, at least I think so. :)
It doesn't matter what Job I choose, it's if I find the Job interesting, fun, or if I agree with it's cause.
About time someone posted a video like this on YouTube. I haven't been great at sports, or even "good" at sports, at least when I play in front of many others. I had quite a few humiliating experiences with junior high intramural games, what a nightmare :-P
Maybe it was for the best, though. I can't say I disagree, with the world of professional sports and our obsession with it, I can see why humanity it's in the situation it's in.
It is the strong Ambition, "To Win", that brings out the "best performance". As having the Ambition to just play/work, in general. So yes, "hard work pays off" but people wouldn't work so hard unless they actually "enjoyed" their work.
self direction can get you anywhere. The point is to looka t the motivation behind what we do, and why we do what we do. This shows our true nature as who we are
playing for fun doesnt bring out the best performance, the harder you try the better you get, do you think the greatest sportsmen in the world just played for fun? Olympians, train and train and train to win, be the best. l wish my parents pushed me to win, to succeed.
the problem is that there are great sportsmen that play for ego and to get rich for their own self intrest. No one has to be super great at something to boost up their ego.supe rgreat sportsman are not a necessity for life or something. pushing your kid to win and be the best is very abusive in that way.
that didnt answer my question, Do you think Ronaldo plays to be rich? To me he looks like he is passionate]for his sport & loves to play to win, not only for himself but for his millions of fans. He doesnt ask to be payed $200k a week, clubs throw money at him because of his talent. Of course he is going to play for $200k a week and not $10k a week at another club. He wants to set up himself and family financially and wants to play for the best teams, the teams that win all the big trophies
What dad's saying is nothing you learn by being told. It's something that has to occur to you, you see. Otherwise it's just the usual shit parents tell you that you wouldn't give a shit about. You just can't learn from mistakes somebody else made. You have to make them yourself.
the words of others remain within us, and when not realised right away, they might come back to us later in memory. And sometimes the common sense words of another do have immediat effect and realisation. It all depends on the person
I doubt it. From my experiences I learned that you can't reach anyone with words, let alone common sense. I reckon our brain has a much bigger area to memorize experiences rather than words. Plus, language is abstract, hence we need an awful lot of imagination to realise the value of what we have been told, if we realise it at all. I just think that we are the sum of our experiences, not the sum of what we have been told.

@Zenoandturtle : Why dont you just say: I am a slave and so should everyone.
You can come up with billions of excuses to justify it, but the bottom line is: its your choice to remain a slave or not.

Pro players now play for big checks. Not because they love the sport. The proof is in the lock outs.

Yes. It is "my work" that motivates me to keep at it. Because my work, is my dream; who I am, and who I will become. :)

Although some people just think, "work is work"

ask them.
ego and self intrest (desire to be rich for example), desires are also connected to the ego so its the same basics.
