The very word "progressive" is such a :

"We are progressive, you are regressive, na na- na-na na."

Like little kids. "Us vs. them" above all.

If you want to help immigrants, do it! Yourself.

Modern progressives are not those who help poor of suffering. Modern progressives are those who demand government help them.

She is pretty old, so perhaps she is not that modern-progressive. Open-mindedness is what modern-progressive is not. Absolutely not.

Yet, even she is so wrong on teaching. There have to be standards.

I'm not saying that liberals (I prefer that term, "progressives" is heinous to me) were always as hideous and they are now. Perhaps back in 18th or even 19th centuries they weren't that bad. But the reality has played a funny game. While still preaching mostly normal and common-sense things, they have turned into an ugly big mafia, which in essence screams "In with us, out with them!"

Modern liberals support teachers against children and parents, immigrants against Americans, illegal immigrants against legal ones, government bureaucracies against small government, foreign dictators against American democrats, education that teaches people to hate their country, Islamonazis, terrorists, enemies of almost every kind, you name it. This video is wonderful to see -- it highlights the importance of education in a truly democratic society. I was fortunate to have had Ms. Bernstein as a teacher, and she helped me understand the value of both an open mind and the importance of reading between the lines. Opening our children's minds to progressive thoughts is the key to making this world a better place to live, and Ruby is a true champion in that. Bravo on a great career.

@dantheman1428  I, too, had Miss B for an English teacher. Two years--9th & 11th grade in the 1960s. She made us work hard and would listen to any student who actually had something to say. If you were goofing off or being a wiseass, well, it wasn't pretty.
