  • it all looks like roll play

  • i think that they have to throw themselves or else face the possibility of breaking bones or any other injury.

  • why they did not attack? they are just waiting to be thrown away..

  • I think I'd be more impressed if they ran at him and actually tried to attack him rather than just put their hands on his shoulders or wrists and then passively wait to get tossed somewhere.

  • @Varishnu

    Like:)

  • @Varishnu my point exactly.

  • @Varishnu but i can dry my hands with a hand-towel, a broom handle offers no such option. on the other hand, a broom handle is easier to stick in my butt.

  • AIKIDO - The ancient art of jumping in circles so that your "Master" gets a hard-on and gives you a good grade.

  • from 600 yards away steven wouldn't have a chance. xD

  • so many people come to this link and bitch and complain like little kids....grow the fuck up, your dumbass biased opinion is not wanted here.

  • na.....this shit only works with students from the same school of thought ( to let your master think he is throwing you around so you get a good grade) . When pitted against someone from a different style of fighting, the aikido "master" always gets beat. Don't believe me? do some research, look it up on youtube. Oh, and watch these guys here just fly around when barely touched. In a real battel, your opponet will not cooperate with this style of......dance? lol....fake martial art.

  • I see a lot of comments saying this is fake and if it does work why isn't in MMA? Well it is most definatly real. If you don't think so go take a couple classes. It is not used in MMA because you have to practice Aikido for many years to even come close to this level. And Aikido is not a competitve art, there are no strikes. Aikido is not for MMA tough guys and guys that wear Affliction and Tapout t-shirts 2 sizes to small. Aikido is for people that see the bigger picture.

  • i can see by the vid here why he made millions at the box office

  • i do aikido , but it's self defense without hurting anybody and he is hurting the other Dojo's and it's not so good i can do better than that and i am orange belt =_="

  • @SuperWolf177 Your youtube name WOULD be "superwolf177". You're full of crap and your name is terrible.

  • @Sja620 ok. my brother gave that name and sorry to make you mad you are right he is better sorry :(

  • i do aikido , but it's self defense without hurting anybody and he is hurting the other Dojo's

  • To all the people out there thinking that this is fake...well its not, its very real, you don't know until you try it. Steven Seagal is that good.He is a very well respected practitioner of Aikido . So until you try aikido or any other martial art keep your unwanted comments to yourself.

  • @japanime99 Dude....I sparred against an aikido student who was a blue belt and he was pathetic. Trying this tired old "I'm gonna throw you with my hand" shit and I knocked his ass out. There is no real art in aikido. It is all fluff and awe. Fake.

  • PERSISTENCE just give it up man

  • slak a5ouya , had syed f chkeeel ,tbarklah 3lih

  • this looks gay no offense i want to see this in real life

  • Wow lOoks so fake

  • @Robertmiller52 there is nothing fake about this ..you dont know until you try i.t i take daito ryu aikibudo. Try a class and then you will see.

  • kdsgdhsqklqshDNDBDBF?EVSNSQFDSHNV SQJ?HSJF VS?JDFlshdkjsqbkshkshkqsjsvjdhqkjx xbwku c?XA

  • no offence to aikido as well to steven and his skills, but this is just a demonstration..

Which means the "attackers" are way trained to do easy "dives" & falls.. its obvious that they are not meant to attack him.. i have participated in demonstration years ago doing nijutsu. peace.

  • I like aikido but I've never seen an real aikodo fight?

  • its like that one old master who has special powers and got beat by a chinese karate student mma lol what a joke

  • i have never seen a Aikido video without a complete over exaggeration by the person being tripped

  • @ThePmull001 It's easy to say that watching it on TV. That old guy would toss you, me and anyone else on this board around and make us look silly and barely break a sweat. If you've never studied Aikido then you can't really say what is or isn't "exaggerated". He doesn't really want to hurt those guys, so they have to flow WITH the joint manipulation. Otherwise several bones would be broken. It's one of the most difficult arts to master.

  • @quazzie11 You couldn't be more off. It's a demonstration, so it's highly exaggerated, just like any other demonstration of any other discipline. Aikido has terrific principles with combining joint locks and throws but the majority of them won't hold any water without the other person letting you do them. Watch a real video of an Aikido artist in combat and you'll see how fluffed this one is when you actually have someone resisting.

  • @pmull0011 Actually I'm not off at all. But what you say is true too. It isn't a martial art that is going to keep you upright in 99% of fights and if you go to the ground... well, you're screwed. But everything I said about the guys going with the flow is true. And the old man, as long as he has practiced, would not be one to pick on. Granted he isn't as badass as this vid would have us believe but putting your hands on him would not be advisable.

  • @pmull0011 It isn't about someone letting you perform a technique on them. Each technique is situation specific.

I'm not an aikido advocate or anything but I DO know the art has some merit. And anyone that has dedicated their life to perfecting the techniques is going to be dangerous. That holds true for the vast majority of martial arts, some moreso than others.

  • @pmull0011 With all that said, if I had a choice of learning ANY style, Aikido would probably be low on the list due to it not being as practical as many other arts.

Sorry for the barrage of replies.

  • that has to be acting

  • Yeah, that's fluff.

  • fake

  • To all those you think that "Ukemi" is just "magic" or "fluff", it's the equivalent to boxers wearing headgear, cups, and gloves.

  • That's one fine art.

  • dober si

  • man 1 vs 4 !!!

  • i think aikido is a waste of money and definatly time, i don't find it realistic and think it lacks training. atleast bjj is there for ufc fighters because you NEED ground work, but aikido is an ART for the street, and i don't see its defense being practical ESPECIALLY compared to something like jeet kune do on the street. i think a boxer would knock an aikido on the ground, for lots of reasons. seagal is bad all i ever see him do it toss students around that punch with there arm, not there body

  • i had worked like security guard, bodyguard and bouncer for over 14 years and i practise tomiki aikido(wich have competition) and i had used aikido many times(don´t forget that atemis=hits) are part of aikido too,and it works, how many times have you fight in the street? if you have experience in the streets i respect your opoinion, experience in sport combats are not 100% experience.

  • @panderetoir sorry to here your only bouncer job was a place for 12 yr olds. =/ lol security guard bodyguard and bouncer are different things ESPECIALLY bodyguard thats more important then both so i doubt ur even telling the truth but what made me catch on was saying u used aikido effectively MAN i'd love to fight an aikido "master" and humiliate him. MMA forbidden to take fingers off the opponent? id love to see an aikido try on anyone that can box or does any other MA ffs

  • @MartialExpert when you are working in a security company it´s normal works like security guard and like bodyguard even in the same week, and when you works in a disco like security guard,if the owner likes how you work he can offer you to work like bouncer, then you call your company and say they that you want wor like security g. in other place and the weekends in the disco.I started to work like bouncer when i was 21,later i owned the security guard and bodyguard title.

  • @MartialExpert i´m spanish and in Spain you must be security guard to obtein the title of bodyguard.I don´t want impresive you,i respect the boxers, kickboxers(in fact i had practised thay, and the most of my friends practise this sports),the only think i said is that don´t understimate the others arts.

  • kinda stupid

  • in mma it´s forbiden take the fingers of the opponent...

  • @panderetoir It wasn't in the early UFCs. It still wasn't used because it doesn't work.

  • lol in ufc yes but in most other you can

    even toes

    ufc is pussy rules

  • @dutchfreaker pussy rules? ya you should be able to permanently hurt someone so there life is over and they can't fight again or EVEN take part in other sports they might like. aikido is all about demonstration its so pathetic there most known student SEAGAL is 0-0 but did run away from van damme after claiming he could beat up van damme(i know pathetic). and got choked out by a 50yr old in 6 seconds when he KNEW it was comming. man how do u get more pahtetic then seagal lol

  • @MartialExpert I must say that i practise Tomiki Aikido(wich have combats, very painfull sometimes) and like aikidoka i don´t think Steven Seagal is the best master ever...it´s true that he runned away from van-damme but this was because he didn´t be man enought, not for be aikidoka, and the man who chocked him out was a famous judoka,Steven talked too much again.Anyway it´s only a personal opinion...

  • @dutchfreaker sorry but i did´t knew that.

  • I'm not saying this doesn't work since I've never seen it in a real fight, but if it does, then why don't mma fighters ever use this?

  • niesamowity

  • It all looks so effortless. Yet its so hard to do.

  • I have seen Deputy Sheriff Steven Seagal using Aikido on the streets of our Parish here in Louisiana for over 20 years, against guns, knives, you name it, he has faced it daily as a law enforcement officer here, drunks, junkies, killers and ganbangers, he has handled them so easily you think you are watching a movie, he's that good..

he is a very great and gracious man and we thank him for serving our state and counties for over 2 decades.

  • actually it sounds more like a man crush here

  • Won't work in real life? You sure have some valuable substantial evidence there.

I am pretty sure an experienced in Akido fighter would be able to break your wrist in a street fight within a matter of a second or two

  • @Mamatidebabe And your "valuable substantial evidence" for that claim would be ...?

  • @Mamatidebabe HAHAHAHAHA maybe a 15 yr old that don't know whats going on........... how does an experienced aikido(not akido) fighter grab my wrist? oh am i supposed to punch like seagals students? and not move after the punch ALSO. no you'll be either getting a .25 second strike to the knee or a .15 second strike to your face so strong you wouldn't even have the strength to grab it anyways. don't compare an aikido to a boxer let alone someone in JKD who trains every body part.

  • @MartialExpert I like the fact you know what you're talking about in some respects, but then show utter disregard for some these techniques because you are more able in a different form of fighting. You seem to think that you would be able to not be at the complete mercy of somone locking your wrist? You try to talk about boxing stats (punch reaction) times etc, when a Boxing hook, straight, jab, are the easiest forms of arm-based attacks to take control of using these forms of Martial Arts..

  • @episodemp3 says your teacher or even just you, and disagreed with bas rutten who won his last 21 mma fights.....ill go with bas on this one thanks anyways

  • @MartialExpert I think i'm referring to how disrespectful you are to other martial arts other than the one you practise. I've studied kickboxing, boxing, juijitsu, and muay baron. I can easily just agree with you based on the fact I probably fight very similar to you. But it's just plain naive to think a boxer can just throw bombs on people who have fluid control. Where you practise punches, he practises locks and throws, do you think they assume people will just run at em when using this tech?

  • I enjoyed this demonstration. I disagree with Mr. Kullivitto. I have personal knowledge that this works in real life. I have been studying and teaching Aikido for many years and it has several very practical applications.

  • hahahaha you have personal knowledge?

if it worked on the streets it would be in UFC plain and simple

  • UFC showmen, like WWF wrestling are there for show, also, they are not disciplined to practice Aikido, the masters make it look so easy but it is not, it takes daily long training for a lifetime to do what they do. Steven Seagal began Aikido training over 40 years ago, has never stopped and is one of the highest and most respected teachers in the world, and was one of the only non Japanese to be taught byt eh creator of Aikido himself

  • Comment removed

  • I have to admit, the way his movies are edited, especially the newer ones, I thought he was just an actor using stuntmen. But, it looks like he actually does have some training.

  • Steven Seagal has been a Sheriff in Louisiana for well over 20 years, he uses it in police work every night on the streets and trains the departments that ask him for training.

  • This actually does work in real situations, on the "streets" how much strain can your arm and wrist take before you tell yourself jacking this guy isn't worth it.

I'll tell you right now you're not going to last more then 15 seconds before running away

  • trop fort the best steven seagal

  • so you say that you can beat Steven Seagal ?? funny to read that.

  • if he pull on that shit on me or anyone he cant take any one, it dosent work in real life!

  • i think that You're just chickenshit fuckin pussy asshole

  • don't be sad now because you are akido fan, im just saying the truth here that this not work on the streets in real life

  • they sometimes flipped on purpose

  • better than getting your arm broken. I've trained in multiple martial arts for 20 years, so I kind of have an idea of what I'm talking about :)

Often the big ukemi you see in aikido demonstrations and training are escapes, allowing the uke to receive the technique without injury. You have no idea how much damage a shihonage can do until you've had it done on you at speed and in earnest.

  • Really? I didn' know that. Thanks!

  • @bonkersfox shutup

  • @Moderm101 If you have something more constructive to add, then I would be more than happy to read it.

  • impressive!

  • he is best!
