Re: Maynard's voice. If you watched the interview w/Carson Daly, Maynard talks about how he'd been struggling with his voice, even speaking. He said his goal on APC's 1st album was to push his vocals as far as he could. (i.e. He was showing off) When they went on their 1st tour he realized the difficulty in doing those songs every night. Ten years later, they're that much harder to perform. He really is a human after all, not god as some claim. I saw them in Seattle, they were amazing.

People going on about the voice: first off, as a long time fan who has enjoyed both bands live since 2000, I can say I think he sounds really solid and nice here. Ok, so some of the massive moments of Tool, and higher register stuff of APC are a bit compromised nowadays; he's good enough a singer to know how to deal with that and make it as good as it can be; it's what nearing 50 does to most people. I'm just grateful he still sounds great (and in this case, as solid as it ever did)

the audio is great but the director chooses to let no image to last more than a second and a half very annoying i hate that. Televised concerts are like this..quick shot editing and no lingering like its going to be less interesting if an image is on screen for 3 or more seconds.

I for one hope he writes melodies for the new record that are easier for him to perform; he strains the crap out of his vocal chords on a lot of the old material. If he writes songs that agree with his changing vocal chords he will enjoy the experience a lot more, and that means so will we.
