Song writers such as Neil Young are so rare now-a-days. The story lines are so poetic. As a teenager (back in the days) of Buffalo Springfield and JIm Morrison and the Doors, I feel for most teenagers today who are fooled by the technology that can make anyone sound plausible. I say Rock On brethren!
I don't think all the music of the 1960s was as hot as Buffalo Springfield and The Doors. :) There's always been diamonds and there's always been shit, IMO.
Thanks for the great posting. The clarity of the voice, words, and music is quite astonishing. One of my all-time favorites since hearing it at Univ. of Miami of Ohio on a Sigma Chi road trip back in 1971. I like the "all-in" sound of the Buffalo Springfield original release, but Neil allows the words to linger a bit and keeps it clear. Again, thanks.
PurpleJulia...thank you for this song as I am a huge Neil Young fan but have never heard it before and was referred here by a friend. There is nothing like Neil alone with his acoustic guitar. His voice and guitar playing create an atmosphere or evoke an emotion like no one else. Now if I could just get my wife to like him.....
PurpleJulia, first I want to truly thank you for getting this song up for me after I requested it. And this version by Neil is as good as advertised! His understated vocals, accompanied by just the acoustic guitar, is perfect. The sincerity comes through. The chord changes and melody are so beautiful. This one ranks way up there, along with Harvest Moon.

Very nice. Though I might like the revamped version Neil did with the International Harvesters a touch more.
