Beautiful! What a powerful amazing choir. I love it, but for some reason still love Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir's performance the most. Check it out on YT.
The beginning is always the offering...passing of the plates! When we are finishing they are all usually up and shouting!! Someday we will see our Lord face to face!
@unitedpraise10 many possible reasons actually. i go to prestonwood btw, this song is performed only occasionally these days but whenever i hear it powerful nonetheless. i have almost exclusively heard it sung at prestonwood during the time of offering or tithe, when we are told to be seated. naturally though, by the songs closing you are hard pressed to see anyone seated at all!
@unitedpraise10 Poor people...I'd have to about force myself not to get up and lift up my hands or something in the presence of God...He inhabits the praises of His people
@unitedpraise10 They're in awe! This is such an amazing song. I was in the orchestra when our mass choir sang this Sunday and was literally blown away. If we'd not already gotten a glimpse of what it would be like during rehearsal, I dont think I'd have been able to continue! It was simply awesome in every true sense of the word.
i agree with caddyorganist. it would be very easy for a large acapella section like this to unintentionally increase the tempo. the drums keep the choir on the beat.
@JSB1983 He is responsible to keep the choir on the click track. With such a huge production its almost undeniable that they are recording with a click track (in ear metronome)
@JSB1983 If you notice the drummer wearing headphones, there is generally a click track to keep the rhythm section in complete sync...if some of the instruments are programmed in the computer, they have to keep up with it and by the drummer keeping time on the hi hat, it keeps everyone together.

@WakingShadowChild
I disagree. I think the Brooklyn Tabernacle is the best. Although I love this tune.

@unitedpraise10 Looks like offertory time. You can see an offering plate pass at one point

I don't understand why this venue would choose to use an electric drum set.

Is there an audio track of this song available for download? I like this arrangement better than the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir's arrangement.

@drewsmom66 It's off their album God is Here. You might be able to get it off of itunes. If not, probably from Prestonwood.

Interesting intro - very cool
Drums should not beat time during the acapella sections from 3:14 - 3:28 they sound great by themselves.
JSB1983 2 years ago
@JSB1983 Personally I like the drums in those sections. I think it helps keep the momentum and forward motion going.

@JSB1983 Actually the drums are supposed to beat. Every version of this song that I've heard has drums beating through the different sections.
philipswanner 9 months ago
@JSB1983 they have to beat, so that everyone is on time when the instruments start back playing.
