What a hilarious twist. In the other versions, especially the Disney version, Sleeping Beauty supposed to be awaken after the prince kissed her. But in this version, the prince fell asleep after kissing Sleeping Beauty and Sleeping Beauty is asleep. In this version the sleeping spell must be contagious or something. This probably the funniest version of Sleeping Beauty so far. XD
I love it too. I did think that Prince Charming didn't sound very polite to not answer Kermit's question. I guess with Charming's look on his face towards the camera was like he was saying "I don't mind, go ahead and watch" but, he should have said it with words to make it look more better.
Well this one obviously appears older. Kermit's voice is a little lower, and it has an older version of the News Flash logo (it starts out like normal, but then becomes superimposed over the first scene of the sketch), and Jerry Nelson's announcer voice sounds quite different, and it features heavy use of background music, while the later sketches only use them for specific scenes.
Oh-this must be the other version they did of Sleeping Beauty. I love Kermit's reaction everytime Sleeping Beauty snores and Prince Charming's flashy entrance.
XD-at 1:16 the prince looks like a vampire!Very cute!

@McBearPEI Even though Prince Charming doesn't speak in this sketch, I'm pretty sure Frank Oz peformed him

OK, which one of the two Sleeping Beauty sketches aired first? This one, or the one where she turned into a frog?

This one obviously appeared to have aired first.

I always like this version--at least they snored happily ever after! "Maybe in another hundred years someone will come along and kiss 'em both..."

Yeah-now the princess has a sleeping buddy.

I think it's neat how the Sesame Street News Flash series always had a lot of title card variations.
BTW, I think Frank Oz is playing Prince Charming, and Jerry Nelson as Sleeping Beauty. And the music is the same as the Rapunzel skit!

This has got to be the most romantic News Flash ever! Hey, guys can have these opinions, too!
muppetfan33 3 years ago
I especially like the music box and the violin music.
muppetfan33 3 years ago 3
The romantic violin music was also used in the Rapunzel News Flash segment!
wiley207 3 years ago 5
@muppetfan33 The music box is playing Rockabye Baby. XD Sleeping Beauty ain't no baby. ;)

@Angie2343 In comedy and cartoons, too, they usually play that song when somebody's in a deep sleep...
