  • dude... 60i, 30p, 24p is framerate, which is how many frames per second HF200 records. 24,17,12,etc (from your mini-menu) is the quality of your picture. Mbps is how much information is sent from the CMOS (the sensor that...senses... what the lens is pointed at. So, the higher the Megabit per second (mbps), the higher quality/sharpness your video is going to be. So, MXP, FXP, XP+, XP, and LP are descending in picture quality.

  • nice setup ya got there.

  • hi. nice video but was wondering, how good must a computer be inorder to edit, or even run the video at full resolution? srry for asking, im saving up for this camcorder but my main worry is my computer.

  • Nice and sharp!

But there is something I don't get; how do you get the 1080p? I read that this camera does 720p as highest, and that is my experience with it too. I would love to get to 1080p, but I only see 1080i, which is 720p.

Can you explain it to me please?

  • @CCNutella No thats not true. 1080i is not 720p or maybe on a HDTV but my HF200 records at 1920 x 1080 pixels Full HD and you can even chose cinema mode which is 24p in the usa in europe (Legria HF200) has 25p i shot this video at 17mbps 1920 x 1080p p=pixels on a hdtv p=proggressive and uploaded this raw footage to youtube. After youtube has decoded the video you'll get the 1080p option on the lower right of your screen but for that you also need a 1080p monitor or 1920 x 1080 resolution.

  • @GRiZLOC ; Thanks, that was something I read somewhere, this HD thing is confusing to me!

But tell me, please, how to record 17mbps, I only see the options 60, 30 and 24 on my camera menu.

Does imovie maybe compress the movie when I click "share"? Is there another way to upload movies directly so I can bypass software compressing?

Sorry if I ask to much, you seem to know all about it, and it's hard to find knowledgeable people!

  • @CCNutella Yes it is also confusing for me. Recording your camera with MXP is at 24mbps (megabits p/second) Recording at FXP is recording at 17mbps. So you need to choose recording quality FXP. MXP recording will give artifacts on youtube when the file is uploaded and decoded by youtube. For youtube the best is FXP which is still 1920 x 1080p (p=pixels) After your video is completely decoded and processed by youtube you will get the 1080p option on the lower right of your video screen.

  • @CCNutella

    1080p>1080i>720p

but sometimes 720p looks better than 1080i

  • @GRiZLOC Thanks! I get it now!

  • whats a aircraft

  • This footage looks good. I haven't had any artifacts with mine. maybe you need a higher class card. I have PNY 16GB class 6 memory card in mine. These are great cameras.

  • @honitsten No sorry i made a mistake i already have a class 6 Sandisk Video HD SDHC memory card. I thought i had a class 4 i also changed it in the video info discription. All the 24mbps raw footages have artifacts when uploaded to youtube. Most videos are converted with a video converter that haven't got artifacts. 24 mbps is too high for youtube to decode without having artifacts. For youtube i record at 17 mbps like this video it had the same resolution which is 1920 x 1080 !!!

  • @honitsten Did you upload your 24mbps video raw footage onto youtube? When recording a video i also do not have any artufacts it's just when uploading it to youtube and after the youtube decoding process it gives artifacts It's not my memorycard which is a class 6 memory card.

  • No I used Sony Vegas to edit and render my video to an MP4 format. I just did a comparison between my point and shoot with the hf200. Check it out, I have the settings I used in the description box.

  • @ lemonlikejuiceTV, I just did some test shot of my hf200 and compared it to my powershot sd960. I've included zoom tests with it too. Great camera.

  • @lemonlikejuiceTV Ofcourse...it has 15x optical zoom and 300x digital zoom. But you should know that optical zoom is always better...

  • very nice
