  • RIP bro!

  • Crap this makes my bass cover for this song look like shit

  • Good morning Black friday!!!

  • That was the most awesome fart sound I've ever heard. Damn this guy is so cool. He and Steve Digiorgio (Death etc.) made me play bass guitar.

  • Darn my novice hearing sense, I can't focus on the bass at all haha the lead and rhythm guitars completely drown it out

  • Youre my favourite bassist on youtube man! Your stuff is just so real.

  • Rest in Peace

  • Fucking awesome, you are my idol.

  • RIP AND GOD'S SPEED. I just LOVE watching Robs videos. He was an AWESOME MONSTER bass player.

  • i couldn't believe that when i found this vid, the guy had just recently passed away. everytime that i listen to The Conjuring, i will be thinking of you Rob. i especially liked the part at the end where you show that surprised expression towards your wife. it was a fun vid and i enjoyed it. i will try to cherish life as much as possible.

    RIP dude.

  • you are the fucking man.

  • dude.you are awesomeee.keep thrashing

  • Good Mourning/Black Friday, The Conjuring, and My Last Words are witthout a doubt my three favorite Megadeth songs...

  • loser...u missed ur chance when ellefson left...

  • hes good

  • Fucking AWESOME> You're Great!

I was smiling all throughout this clip. Bravo

  • try hook in mouth , dude !

  • Good God! I love the tone that you get out of Priscilla!

  • Just wondering: do you have the Remastered album?

  • Definitely sounds like the remaster in this video

  • nice job.its hard shit to do!

  • Great Playing (Y) :)

  • once again you beat the shit out of the Ricki! awesome. and i agree w/ what you said. one of The HEAVIEST Megadeth tunes, and one of my fav bass driven tunes from them! keep up the great work man! i enjoy it

  • LOVED that face you made at the end xD

    And another awesome cover :)

  • Awesome Megadeth cover! Sorta hoping for Skull Beneath the Skin, Set The World Afire or Chosen Ones to be your next Megadeth song to post :D

  • hehe, we think the same

  • Chosen Ones! That would be awesome, so would Skull Beneath the Skin!

  • turn the volume cos ur amazing

  • what can i say, i'm so bloody jelous of the tone you have mate. sick playing too bud.

  • damn....awesome....you're good with a Bass. i would very much like to know what peavey amp that is.

  • Thanks, man. You have a heck of an eye to pick out that my bass is the same as Cliff's. Even the same year it was made (1974).

  • @zodiakironfist ya bro deff an excillent bass wish i had one like it beautiful sound but there is one problem $ lol

  • awesome stuff, i see your Ricky still has the same intensity, better than perfect Megadeth cover! Do some more Slayer too please besides these and your Maiden covers, there my favourites!

  • Yeah, I should play more Slayer. It's so hard to choose sometimes.

  • You could definitely make a career out of this, you're really good. And I am a big Megadeth fan as well, the bass is really awesome in the entire Peace Sells album.

  • i love the sound (and the look) os your bass

  • BWAH! Love the ending, and all the rest of it! Your wife's a lucky lady. And so is Priscilla (hope I remembered her name right :)

  • You are a god my friend, I hope to play bass like you someday, especially some of my fav. megadeth tunes which actually happen to be probably some of the harder songs to play on bass by megadeth. Oh well, guess I'll just get to practicing.

  • always impressive, my favorite from you is "The Trooper". Thanks again man!!!

  • love it ... you kick some serious ass man ^^

I would love to see you play live

  • Also, way to shred 5/5

  • Megadeth is pushin out a new album soon, fyi :)

  • I love this song, and I love you playing it! This song and Bad Omen are my faves from this album, and I love the cover of the Bad Omen you did too!

  • Great job and yes Good Mourning/Black Friday is one of my favorite megadeth songs. it is such a mean song

  • Damn... One of my favorites from 'em. Holy crap. Great playing man.

  • You are the fucking man, yet so humble. Never stop doing this

  • Great job! You showed that Rickenbacker who's boss. You have excellent taste in music, by the way. Always a pleasure. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna watch this again!

  • You need to wear the special safety glasses for more than one viewing or the cheese and dorkiness will ooze through your speakers. Consider yourself warned.

  • Excellent, as usual sir. My first 5 string rickenbacker will arrive tomorrow! Can't wait.

  • You're going to love it....I promise. But do not name her until she tells you her name....very important.

  • Oh, I already have one rick. I know the magic my friend. Tomorrow we'll see what a rick B string sounds like! Are you going to have pricilla's pickups rewound? or just replace them?

  • great job dood!!! one of my favorite megedeth songs. love the ZIF style you add to it

  • Thanks, man. ZIF style.....lol....I just call it "grip it and rip it"

  • Can you make a video on Good Mourning/Black Friday? That would be sick. Awesome job by the way.

  • A tough and scary song to play....it'll take a while to get all of the bits right, but yes, I will eventually do it.

  • hahahha the facial expression at the end is priceless!!!

  • gr8 cover

  • Playing is spot on as always :) Next time though, please lower the volume of the audio, it was clipping and distorting all over. That is all and otherwise I have no criticisms.

  • I noticed that after the upload. Sizzles a little bit at the beginning, which is not something the original video has. Yeah, I may have overdone it a bit...but boy did it sound great through my M-Audio recorder!

  • Very cool and your look at the end was priceless! lol

  • My wife is full of surprises.

  • Nice job, as usual.

So thrash gave you trouble long ago? Maiden, Megadeth, Anthrax, and the like give me trouble more because of the many changes in the songs, not so much because of the speed.

So what does your wife think of your hobby, and the whole room of equipment and paraphenalia?

  • My wife alternates between loving it and begrudgingly tolerating it. Although ultimately she is responsible for it. There would be no ZIF if it wasn't for her. She created this 2 year monster.

Yes, thrash was so much harder to get clean than Rush was. Rush was all about control of scales, but thrash was so much more complex with change-ups and blistering scales with driving rhythms. Takes a LOT of control to play bass right to that (it is easy to play it too light or mushy..no power or force).

  • Hell yeah, you kicked the hell out of that song. Keep up the good work dude!

  • Excellent once again. You are a master of that rickenbacker. It is also hilarious at the end when you I assume see your wife after rockin out. Is she into that kind of music too or does she just shake her head?

  • She likes some true metal. Her big band is Divine Heresy. But for the most part she is not very into the stuff I am metal-wise. A lot of stuff I like is too harsh vocally for her to appreciate. We agree on Arch Enemy, though.

Her REAL music is 10,000 Maniacs, Sarah McGlaughlan, and the like. She is the one that got me into swing, though......great music for noodly basslines.

  • Awesome cover man! You looked like you were really having fun with that ... my wife walked behind me on my last video & I didn't know it either - lolol ... that was a killer look you had! Rock on

  • Yeah, I was kinda embarassed.

  • you should do one of of Killing Is My Business

    like Skull Beneath The Skin

  • Believe it or not, I do not have that album. I recorded it from someone years and years ago, listened to it once, and didn't like it. Of course back then I had a far less sophisticated taste in music than I do now....perhaps it is time to revisit that album with fresh ears...

  • Agree. Or Killing Is My Business... And Business is Good. Great album title song. :)

  • Pancakes are my business...and pancakes are good

  • That is one filthy ass bass tone!!

    Chunky as!

    1st class man.

  • Priscilla aims to please, and she pleased me well this time. Thick.

  • Zodiak I think you should do DEVIL'S ISLAND or GO TO HELL or mayb ANGRY AGAIN or RATTLEHEAD ANYTHING :o!

  • I am familiar with Devil's Island, of course, and it will eventually be done. Go to Hell....is that the Carcass tune? If so, I am still wrestling with low tuning like that...even though I friggin' love Carcass. What are those other tunes from?

  • No Go to hell is from megadeth from the hidden treasures its a very nice album and so angry again, same album. well rattlehead is from killing is my business...and business is good :)

  • this is great, if you have this album, could you try to make a vid of track number 8, dont recall the song name, or if you already have one, would you direct me 2 it

  • My Last Words? You'' find it....I've done it.

  • Or was it Bad Omen? I did that one, too. the ones I have left are Wake Up Dead, Devil's Island, and Good Mourning/Black Friday.

  • good to see ya back, killer!

  • Thanks. That trip to england really interfered with my routine, but I made it back in one piece with a tale or two to tell, so it's all good.

  • Man....looking at this video and so many of my others, I really wish I didn't play with my mouth hanging open like that. I try to control it, but as soon as I let my guard down and get to a part where I need to concentrate, the jaw just slacks open. I could catch a fly.

  • kick ass 5/5

  • Ahh excellent job as usual Rob, getting Endgame when its released?

  • as always, love the tone on that Rick. I'd love to hear you do a Tool cover.

  • That's probably not going to happen. I just do not like Tool that much. The rest of the LRRGs think that Tool is awesome, but I just don't get into them. I blame it on the fact that I am an old fart.

  • that's cool. I can understand that. At least we'll always have awesome Megadeth and Maiden vids. I'm sure I'll be pleased with whatever you choose to do next... haven't been disappointed yet.

  • GREAT JOB! conjuring is a sick song!

  • It's terribly fun to play. That last half of the song is just pure thrash genius.

  • yea dude! do you play guitar? the intro solo is soo fun :D conjuring is amazing. do you drum? its so fun to drum also. fuck, it's just such a fun song altogether! =D

  • I have a guitar, and from time to time I lay down a track or two with it. But I would NEVER call myself a guitar player. I suck way too much to even try to do the intro solo. My fingers are too well-tuned for the bass...when I pick up a 6 stringer, it is obvious that a bass player is playing guitar. I leave that magic to your natural born 6 string slingers....I'll stick with my four-banger.

  • Wow that was damn impressive! Gotta love Megadeth. Great song off there best album.

  • It seems I am eventually going to play this whole album.....minus "I ain't Superstitous", of course.

  • I wouldent mind that Peace Sells is sick. Are you not a fan of I Aint Superstitious? Its pretty good.

  • Oh I listen to it, but I think of the song as more of a lark than something serious.....an excuse for Dave to play blues licks. Something to listen to, but not play....at least for a bass player.

  • Ohh I see. That makes sense. That song never stuck out as much as the rest of the album did. You have all this thrash metal then a blues rock number... Kinda out of place, its kinda cool though.

  • can u give me a dead skin mask or war ensamble by slayer i saw them live and they were amazing and great vid 5/5

  • Ahh....you have seen Slayer live. A mighty sight you have seen.

  • Needless to say. That was very impressive

    :)

    Keep it up man

  • Thanks. And I will try.

  • That bass tone is BEAST. Loved it as usual. Great job Rob.

  • Thanks. Priscilla has been doing fairly well as of late....I'm glad I get to keep her sound just a little bit longer before her pickups finally die.

  • Awesome video again of course. Keep the megadeth coming. Actually i recently saw Slayer live...any chance of another Slayer cover?

  • Youtube removed one of my Slayer covers, claming that WMG removed it. I found out that WMG doesn't even own Slayer, and so the video was reinstated. What I am trying to say is that youtube treats Slayer weirdly, and I have been avoiding slayer because of that. I'll re-look into the legal stuff....if it checks out, you bet there will be more Slayer!

  • perfect

  • Hardly, but thanks.

  • Man, that's a scary GROWL coming out of Priscilla! I would dare anyone not to go \m/ during this one!

    Rock on, man!

  • I didn't go \m/ when I played it (even though there was a moment I could have). Do I win the dare?

  • You win.

  • LOL...I thought so. But I must admit that I could not help but to pose there.

  • do you have any tips on how to get your tone? i have a line six lowdown.

  • I do not know what a line six lowdown is, but I di know that good tone in a youtube video comes from directly recording your bass into your computer, preferably with a guitar recorder. Mine comes from M-Audio. To bolster gain, I use a Digitech BP80.

  • 4:20

  • Now why would anyone pick that time?

  • ahahahha ucz it was a sick part right then

  • fukin sick dude

  • LOL...actually I feel fine.

  • Good job buddy!

  • Thanks, man.

  • yeahh

  • \m/

  • dude that neck looks amazingly thin. what is the length of it? or width? whichever one is like going up and down i get those mesurments confused

  • Don't really know the length....but it only has 22 frets. Ricks have some of the thinnest necks across the frets, but they are fairly thick from the front of the fretboard to the back, which gives them their solidity and strength.

  • One of my favourite Megadeth songs, It's a shame Dave doesn't play this one anymore :( I used to love his tapping intro.

  • Dave is not the same person musically that he was then....I know all musicians age, but Dave's change of musical style was far from what I expected it to be. Oh well...many musicians cannot resist the lure of playing easier music for more money.

  • Beautiful work man! I used to play this as a kid and it's neat hearing it again except you do it correctly and I played it like a stoned teenager.

Keep up the vids dude, you have a serious talent. You should be rich.

  • Back in the day I played this like a stoned teenager, too. Fooled a few people, though :)

  • absolutely LOVE this bassline, great job!

  • Ellefson wrote some great basslines. I know he never got the attention Mustaine did, but he definitely deserved it. Perhaps if more bass players appreciated Ellefson, there would be less people running around with an attitude about picks :)

  • Hell yeah, The Conjuring, My Last Words, Bad Omen, Take No Prisoners, Tornado of Souls, the list goes on, though Megadeth's current isn't bad either! Sleepwalker has a killer bassline.

  • hehehe...stop mentioning Tornado of souls or I am apt to play it. the tune's been in my head for days.

  • One of your best, loved it

  • Thanks.

  • all the ones you do off peace sells are good hell all of em are good

  • Peace Sells is a great album. I formed my musical personality during the years that album came out, and so I suppose it shows in my playing.

  • awesome as ever

  • Thanks.

  • Absolutely great playing. I love your bass, too

  • Much appreciated.

  • fuck yea Megadeth

  • \m/

  • WE WANT MOOOOOORE MEGADETH!

  • Asking me for more Megadeth is like asking me for more Iron Maiden. You don't have to ask.....it's just gonna happen.

  • now you make me a really happy man!
