Islamic nations seem to love getting thrashed at the hands of technologically inferior and numerical outnumbered or identical armed forces, led by female leaders and also let them set world records. India thrashed Pakistan in 1971 when the latter had tech supermacy and we set world record in number of captured soldiers (ONE LAKH) and were also led by a lady, Indira Gandhi. Ironically one of the Arab-Israeli war coincided with celebration of Vijaya Dashami or Victory of Goddess, Hindu Festival.
@harishkumar09 no you misunderstood the facts, you did defeat pakistan in 1971, however, India would be ashamed to lose a war with such stratigical advantages, as Pakistan divide their forces to defend west Pakistan (bangladish), and the main land, also you supported insugents in Bangladish, also meaning that the already weak forces defending Bangladish against India had to deal with them, so there is no way that Pakistan could've won that war.
@om996jo Not really. You fail to understand that thanks to Mahatma Gandhi's policies, Indian Army size was identical to Pakistani army size. Also they had superior technology in tanks and airforce, and they still lost it. Notwithstanding the "division" you talk about, our army sizes were identical. Plus Bangla inssurgents were already fighting pakistan and we just helped them and our training was enough to destroy Pakistanis.
@harishkumar09 meh, united we stand, divided we fall, fits well remember the PAF was divided, I'd only say what i've said already, reply the rest later.
@om996jo Actually, the fact that you have two borders, one in the West (now Bangladesh) and one in the East (Pakistan) was an advantage. You can open a two front battle and make life hell for the other country. India was well aware of the difficulties of a two-front war, and jumped at the opportunity presented by Bangla Uprising to put an end to "two pakistans" , which is a frightening scenario for any General of any Nation. The fact that Pakistan was "divided" was actually an advantag.
@om996jo Also, in wars, you cannot expect things to be served to you on a platter. Geography and History cannot be changed and you are expected to make good use of them. You cannot give excuses in the battlefield. This is not a video game. The fact that there was a Pakistan at ends of India separated by a thousand kilometres was an advantage for Pakistan and disadvantage for India. Ask any General of any country and he will tell you that. India jumped at the opportunity to change it.
@harishkumar09 another thing, with excluding your country's nuclear arsenal, your country's armed forces can't stand a chance agianst the combined forces of arab country's in asia alone, you navy will thrash us at sea but will be helpless to do any thing in the face of ground dominance and air supermacy that our forces would aciece within hours, Egypt alone posses a land army and air force that are stronger than their Indi counterparts, however the indi-pak wars is not our wars.
@om996jo Do you really want to try that scenario ? Your combined armies will lose to Indians just as they lost to the Israelis. Don't forget Indian army is bigger than Israeli army and even if it was the same size as Israelis you will still be thrashed. Your combined air forces will meet the same fate as they met at the hands of Israeli AF. The very fact you want all Arab countries to join together and attack India itself is admittance of the fact that muslims are weak and cowardly.
@harishkumar09 you should first see what we have, I agree(except Egypt) that one arab state can't stand alone against India,on the other hand combine Asian arabs states armies and you'll have 2440 3rd gen. tanks vs. India's 1800( 1600 T90 & 200 arjun) in the air the arabs (in asia) have 640 4th gen. fighters, while India has only 240 !!!!
how exactly is uniting our efforts bad, does that mean that each indian state should an eneme on its own ?!
@om996jo I will give you a piece of advice. Stick with beating your wives, thrashing young girls who don't wear purdah, sneak behind allies and rape Jewish and Hindu women, just as your Holy Prophet did. Don't try to mess with Hindu and Jewish men. You will finished. We are the top two races in the planet and after 1000 years of Christian/Hindu domination, we are still going strong. The more you attack us, the stronger we become !
@harishkumar09 I meant after 1000 years of Christian/Muslim domination. We dont like to dominate even though we can, we try to educate. Do you know what education is ? Oops, I forgot the Prophet (PBUH) was an illiterate and lived off his wives earnings and produced verses out of thin air when ever he found a woman who caught his fancy ! You have comical religion and I beg you to stick with it and do not give up Islam at any cost. It is non-stop comedy ! And free too !
@harishkumar09 when you say "(We are the top two races in the planet)", you adress your self as a nazi, so keep in mind what you say, and speak of. @Ariana321 Yeah, merely the flying a jet fighter has to be a remarkable sensation.
I think enthusiasm has to be part of it. These fights are intense near-death experiences, and their outcomes also determine the lives of many others... Besides, it's what he trained for so hard in the best years of his life. I don't think I could tell such personal experience calmly :P

@FireStorm81318 hi just for your information and knowledge that Jordan was never ever in the USSR side. Now can you please let us know your sources? As you noticed in the documentary that the Jordanian planes were Hawker Hunter; British made. Later Jordan acquired US planes such as Star Fighter and then F-5 and more recently the French Mirage and US F-16. Did not the series mention that the Jordanians were trained by the Royal Air Force?
@TheGK2009 I never said that the Jordanians had USSR pilots flying for them, but the Syrians did. If I ever made that mix-up, please tell me where and I'll fix it.

I'm removing your comment for violating my mentioned condition in the description section, and making hate speech against Americans.
what the fuck this fucking history channel said in the first episode of dogfights of the middle east that the mirage 3 is built for dogfights this channel is always wrong
@georgewilliam71 They said it was built to dogfight high-altitude bombers (NOT fighters). At the beginning it's said that they were "designed to take on enemy aircraft" (by having 2 guns and A-to-A missiles). Both claims are true. It MAY have been inefficient for that purpose... But neither you, nor me, nor History Channel, nor the Mirage's designers know it's true potential. Only its pilots know its limits.
Unless you were a Mirage pilot you have no right to make those claims.
@davelurch1970 A dogfight by definition is an aerial combat between fighter aircraft. Sure, the Mirage III is also, among other things a "dogfighter", mostly for missile ranges, as it can't turn well (the IAF used it much against its design's purpose).
@FireStorm81318 And I personally like the F-8E Crusader, though all fighter planes have an inherent beauty to them, which is somewhat poetic, considering they are weapons of war. :)
Isreal always had dam good pilots who knew how to dogfight, great cilp this were i get alt of my ideas for when im dogfighting online when playing il2 1946.
well the source is a book that describes Firas Ajlony's life who is a Jordanian fighter pilot who scored Jordan's first air to air kill in 1966' and was in turn killed in 1967 war.
I've read it 3 or 4 years ago.
Jordan was never on USSR's side, we were neutral for most part of the cold war.
@om996jo hey I know this is off topic I'm egyptian and if you know about aviation can you please tell me the name of the Jordanian flight academy because I;ve been advised by more than one pilot to go there and I wan't to know it's name,please help if you can?
I think that I have found the name of the academy you were talking about, its called the Mideast Aviation Academy or the MAA, its located in Amman, Jordan ; and stationed in marka civil airport in Amman.
you can apply to it by its website, to apply you need to have a : passport, phone, mobile, an E-mail and a degree, you can apply if you only had a secondary degree, however its better to have a university one...
the academy provides three training programs, professional pilot training (11 courses), professional maintenance training(4 courses), and avionics.
when applying you need to identify the type of the course (eg: Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot / Instrument Rating, Flight Instructor, Instrument Flight Instructor, Air Line Transport Pilot, Flight Dispatcher, Pilot Refresher Course.).
@om996jo thank you very much for your time I'll check it know and you should know that you might have just made my entire carrier easier I still have a year left at school I'm in grade 11 but I just like to plan ahead !
@MNjibbin Well let me ask you, would you risk your life to get a gun kill? Or shoot a missle? Its the same result, the enemy plane goes down. So why would it matter? If I were flying i would shoot the shit outta them with missles personally
2) Maybe they didn't get the chance- you can't kill with missiles if you're too close or at a bad angle
3) Those MiGs are highly maneuverable and have good chance of out-turning any air-to-air missile of that era. I suggest you watch "Dogfights: MiG killers of USS Midway", there they show just that.
Anyway, yeah, IAF pilots had their ego and confidence with guns (they trained at it every couple of days, so it's reasonable) xD
@FireStorm81318 Well if they didn't really have missles then they shouldn't have put them on the planes. And missles will work at such short ranges like they portray in Dogfights.
@om996jo AIM-9s? AIM-9s are good missiles but for whatever reason thy didn't shoot them. I think dogfights is based on real events but that its severely exaggerated. How do these pilots know exactly what happened? They are fighting, flying around, scared to death how would they know every little thing that happens? And never is there a dog fight episode that features the "bad guys"
@Pluntfarb They didn't have any AIM-9 missiles. Back then, the IAF bought only from Frence. And I don't know how the Israeli pilots felt, but don't forget that they were (and still are) the most trained pilots in the world. A USAF pilot would be a role model if he made 2000-3000 flight hours. In Israel it would be closer to 6000-7000 hours.
And besides, only the best of the IAF (who are already the best of the IDF) were chosen for Mirages.
BTW, Dogfights do feature the "bad guys", though rarely.
these hunters were attacking troops on the ground which means that they are or were hunter FGA-9 which is the bomber version of the hunter, they are not optimised to carrie AAMs. and even if they had AIM-9s the couldn't have used them because the first AIM-9s imported by Jordan weren't all aspect side winders and couldn't sustain the G-force.
Guys got bad informations, most succesful pilot in jet-jet fights was Nikolay Sutyagin credited with 21 kills, second Kurt Welter with 20 (german) and this guy was 3rd (not counting vietnam)
Saying a Mig-21 is beautiful (that's the correct spelling) is like saying a Nissan Sentra is beatiful.
Now the Mirage on the other hand.... yes... beautiful :)

@worldcomander
I don't know its name I'll try to look for it for you but it might take a while. So you must have some patients with me :)

@worldcomander
I think that I have found the name of the academy you were talking about, its called the Mideast Aviation Academy or the MAA, its located in Amman, Jordan ; and stationed in marka civil airport in Amman.
you can apply to it by its website, to apply you need to have a : passport, phone, mobile, an E-mail and a degree, you can apply if you only had a secondary degree, however its better to have a university one...
om996jo 1 year ago
@worldcomander
the academy provides three training programs, professional pilot training (11 courses), professional maintenance training(4 courses), and avionics.
when applying you need to identify the type of the course (eg: Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot / Instrument Rating, Flight Instructor, Instrument Flight Instructor, Air Line Transport Pilot, Flight Dispatcher, Pilot Refresher Course.).

@om996jo Wasn't the first Jordanian air kill in 1964? Anyway, though I can't find a way to confirm it, thanks for sharing this info.

@FireStorm81318
I've read this book along time ago so I don't remember the details, I wish if I can provide more help.
by the way I've checked wikipedia and Jordan's first air kill was in 1964 as you said, the second was in 1966.
Israel scored 3 kills in the pre six day war period, 2 of those were in 1966.

say I didn'y know that hunters had advantages over the Mirage ?
om996jo 1 year ago
They Mirages had missles? So why didn't they shoot them...?
Pluntfarb 1 year ago
@Pluntfarb the pilots were very triditional about their dogfights i guess you could say.. they prefer gun kills over missle kills
MNjibbin 1 year ago
@MNjibbin Well let me ask you, would you risk your life to get a gun kill? Or shoot a missle? Its the same result, the enemy plane goes down. So why would it matter? If I were flying i would shoot the shit outta them with missles personally
Pluntfarb 1 year ago
@Pluntfarb Personaly i would too but gun kills for them and the meca of kills so they would wrather have a gun kill than a missle kill
MNjibbin 1 year ago
@Pluntfarb Overall true, but:
1) No one said they really had missiles
2) Maybe they didn't get the chance- you can't kill with missiles if you're too close or at a bad angle
3) Those MiGs are highly maneuverable and have good chance of out-turning any air-to-air missile of that era. I suggest you watch "Dogfights: MiG killers of USS Midway", there they show just that.
Anyway, yeah, IAF pilots had their ego and confidence with guns (they trained at it every couple of days, so it's reasonable) xD
FireStorm81318 1 year ago
@FireStorm81318 Well if they didn't really have missles then they shouldn't have put them on the planes. And missles will work at such short ranges like they portray in Dogfights.

@Pluntfarb
Jordanian hunter F-6 were armed with 2x AIM-9s as well.
om996jo 1 year ago
@om996jo AIM-9s? AIM-9s are good missiles but for whatever reason thy didn't shoot them. I think dogfights is based on real events but that its severely exaggerated. How do these pilots know exactly what happened? They are fighting, flying around, scared to death how would they know every little thing that happens? And never is there a dog fight episode that features the "bad guys"
Pluntfarb 1 year ago
@Pluntfarb They didn't have any AIM-9 missiles. Back then, the IAF bought only from Frence. And I don't know how the Israeli pilots felt, but don't forget that they were (and still are) the most trained pilots in the world. A USAF pilot would be a role model if he made 2000-3000 flight hours. In Israel it would be closer to 6000-7000 hours.
And besides, only the best of the IAF (who are already the best of the IDF) were chosen for Mirages.
BTW, Dogfights do feature the "bad guys", though rarely.
FireStorm81318 1 year ago
@FireStorm81318
according to some sources Jordan had AIM-9s.
while Israel had the shifrir-1 missile, which wasn't as successful as what they were intended.
om996jo 1 year ago
@FireStorm81318 Can you tell me where it features the bad guys so to speak?
Pluntfarb 1 year ago
@Pluntfarb Dogfights: Secret Weapons
FireStorm81318 1 year ago
@Pluntfarb
also in Dogfights: kamekazie
om996jo 1 year ago
@Pluntfarb
these hunters were attacking troops on the ground which means that they are or were hunter FGA-9 which is the bomber version of the hunter, they are not optimised to carrie AAMs. and even if they had AIM-9s the couldn't have used them because the first AIM-9s imported by Jordan weren't all aspect side winders and couldn't sustain the G-force.

Guys got bad informations, most succesful pilot in jet-jet fights was Nikolay Sutyagin credited with 21 kills, second Kurt Welter with 20 (german) and this guy was 3rd (not counting vietnam)
