Thank you, this is one of the gratest tracks by Autechre. The video is also really cool! There is a similar video in youtube, the track is by Monolake (played slower?) and the video about Moscow in 1908. Very very cool! Named "Moscou sous la neige (1908) + Monolake".
Gracias a un pediatra hice un tratamiento a los amantes del buen sonido desembozándome los oídos con agua oxigenada. Me recomendó no utilizar mas bastoncillos. Ahora escucho esto y disfruto el doble. Un saludo para Autechre desde Barcelona, Long Life for Techno Music.
Simply... one of AE's best song... for in those days...
Autechre for sure took an other route in creating music. I know many people liked their first albums and they can't feel the vibe of their new work anymore. AE is more like a science of music in the form of sound impressions...
Not to take any focus away from the artists (both the video maker and Autechre) but something about the video description doesn't seem right: what part of this was done on 35mm and why? You obviously did your editing and effects digitally, and the footage you shot yourself has a 16mm Bolex or Ari look to it (the contrast seems too good for DV, and the registration glitches when you shake the camera seem like they came from a small 16mm camera) . Besides that - nice work.
I think most, if not all, people who listen to Autechre would also be fans of Boards of Canada. If ya never heard of them, shame on you! Autechre, BoC, and Aphex Twin would be in my top 10 artists of all time
@KphexTwin00 beatiful day in the summer ,is the only BoC track i remember ......classic though . always wondered was the version i heard live . or deliberately thin sounding
I remember when Autechre made music like this - and I miss those days. I still respect their technical ability in making generative songs, but so much of it has become obtuse and "mathy" like it's more of cerebral exercise than a listening experience. I mean, Foil just oozes something beyond music which is both organic and alien all the same time. I'd love for them to revisit this kind of sound...
They won't. Autechre will continue to evolve into something else, whatever that will be.. And their live performances are better than ever. Nothing beats Ae live.
@hyperfocus i know its annoying when musicians change, but its usually for the better. take radiohead, they changed completely when kid A came out, and a lot of fans abandoned them, a lot of fans stayed with them too. whats important is that they didnt sell out like most musicians do these days!
Couldn't agree more. I still remember the excitement of bringing this home and playing this opening track. At 1:24 (or a second after) when the bass note changes, the shivers that went through my body! I thought then, can music get better than this?
I rediscovered this cd upon becoming a father and playing it every day to help my baby go to sleep - really relaxing & inspiring for father & daughter!
Definitely a desert island disc for the more discerning listener.
Play this track and have the tv muted while playing a racing game and it will seem almost like your drifting in a trance or something.Hard to explain but try it.
Wow, great job! This is sick! My favorite Autechre tune, so apocalyptic. I also make vids to the music i made - chk it out, would love to hear ur comments. :)

omg..foil combined with this b/w video brings tears of joy to my eyes.. it just fits perfect together. the footage of the WW2 and the aerial views from the bombed cityscapes is so powerful in its visual expression and the track perfectly captures the intense feelings of anxiety this vid creates. watchin this brings me in a dark and but also lovley and almost euphoric mood^^ ...very great work ..i´d rather like to see less bullshit and more stuff like this one here on youtube
Amazing. I love this video, 'edging on genius'. I keep coming back to this edit, beautifully atmospheric, incoherent and all the better for it. I think it reminds me of the video in The Ring!
Sweet jesus! Where to start? Um...Fucking kudos to you man, or whoever made this. This tune is somewhat landmark or mind to me. And good lord you've come up with something that not only works with it but 'works with it'..I'm a little drunk right but that's probably unimportant (shite, I'm wasting the few letters I've got here..). Anyway look I'm a critical cunt at the worst of times and simply, thumbs up. A lot people waste good tunes with crap videos, but this is edging on genius. Too arty? NAH
