Great video! I recently purchased the c3 and am loving it. I have the 16mm prime lens and was debating getting the 18-55 zoom lens. I am planning to travel to NYC soon where I will be taking a wide range of shooting. Should I invest in the 18-55 lens or do you think the 16mm will do. Thanks!
@jasonmao Get the 16mm for NYC, I am actually from NYC and when ever I used this camera in the city I only used the 16 because it works best. Of course you would have to decide for yourself though, but keep in mind the 16mm is excellent
@TheOther328DLCR Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. I find when i turn the focus ring on my 16mm pancake lens that it turns but nothing ever comes into focus. I think it might be busted. Have you heard about this problem before? Also i noticed that with the pancake lens attached, the camera rarely can auto focus if ever. When i switch it to MF or DMF and turn the focus ring, nothing comes into focus as well.
i want to get the nex 3, but i'm not sure if i should buy the 16mm pancake lens or the 18-55mm. I'm going travelling so mobility is an issue, but i want a nice picture and to have a decent zoom.
Im sorry but you sound like a nube. You dnt even talk about the sensor. The lense isent the difference, the sensor is. The sensor is dslr size the lenses are not what make the camera great.
@eliopoulos97 Well sorry, maybe you can learn to spell first then talk to me. I'm almost 100% sure there are other videos on this camera, why not go watch them?
So, the strap that came with the camera was thinner? If you put a much thinner strap on that thing i'm guessing the camera and the lense won't be facing down..
Interesting what you said: " I find this to be in between a point and shoot and a DLSR". So, is NEX at the same ground with superzooms (HX100, FZ35 etc.)? I was really thinking an APS Sensor was kicking some as*es and putting this camera between SLR, but I am not sure right now.
Hi... I'm quite impress with the NEX3... I'm saving up for my first camera... which would you recommend I get? the 16MM or the one with the 18-55MM? I'm just an ordinary user.
@babaikaushik I do not have both of those but I do have 3 other DLSR's and this will never match the quality of a DLSR, espically for the price of this. I find this to be inbetween a point and shoot and a DLSR. If you had to choose between a DLSR and this do not even think twice and get the DLSR for quality, but for size this is your best choice.
@TheOther328DLCR Thanks Mate . I did some R&D since I had posted this comment . I dropped NEX3 from my list and now I am struck between Samsung NX11 and Sony D3100. Could you please share your views on these two cameras ?
@shahthegreat1 imo, dslr is too bulky. body + lens = so hard to move around, especially when travelling. this one is more flexible, when not in a mood to use zoom lens, we can always change it to smaller prime lens, and it feels so compact in my hand!
that's why I got one for myself. I'm not a photography nerd (pardon my language. lol) but I still want a great picture
Just for future reference, when you referring to the aperture as only going to ƒ2.0, you were actually adjusting the Exposure Compensation (or EV) control not the Aperture. To be able to control the aperture with any camera it has to be set to either Manual (M) or Aperture Priority (Av). The 16mm lens for the NEX-3 goes to ƒ2.8 at it's widest setting.
@TheJamesPearson Yes, i corrected myself in the description of the video when i uploaded it instead of making a entirely new vid, thanks for the comment!

@jasonmao It probably is busted. Although I have to say sometimes when I take a photo with it the picture does look unfocused.

The sensor of this camera is just as big as a DSLR ... Can you say the image quality is also the same??
funniq 2 months ago
@funniq This won't even match the quality of a DSLR. I have a T2i and T3i and refuse to use this sony.

Do you have to buy the different lenses? If so what lens is on it when you buy it?

Nice explanation of the features .
Could you please tell me how do you rate NEX3 against Sony D90 & Sony 5100. Also with bigger lens can it take pics equivalent to DSLR's ?

@babaikaushik I think your talking about a Nikon D3100. Go with the 3100, you will have better low light shooting and overall a better experience

why not buy a dslr cos with the lens its as massive as a dslr

@shahthegreat1 Just because the lens is big? I own two DLSR's already
