the first line that comes out of mufusa's mouth gets me every time "simba, you have forgotten me.you have forgotten who you are and so you have forgotten me" such a powerful scene
that scene reminds me of my mother. she passed away 5 years ago, and we used to watch that movie together when i was just a child...and now that scene gives me courage....happy tears come to my eyes...:) :) so beautiful.
Im 23 but this scene still makes me cry,i did when i was a little kid and still does. Even more when my brother died. He's up somewhere smiling to me :) but i miss him deeply... :\
Though Mufasa wasn't the main character, he played a bigger part than a main character, he journeyed back to the land of the living in ghost form, to tell his one and only son to go back
Mufasa:you have forgotten who you are and so forgotten me, look inside yourself Disney, you are more than what you have become...you must take your place in the circle of classic disney movies..
Disney:how can i go back? im not who i used to be...
Mufasa:remember who you are..you are Disney, and the one true King of movies...remember...
My father says the same thing mufasa tells simba , and today I do drugs and I drink to much , like simba says , im not who I use to be , but his words keeps me going on .
one reason new movies suck: they're all about "believe in yourself and you'll succeed and be happy".we all know life doesn't really work that way.....just a thought i had watchin this FREAKIN AWESOME scene. hail hans zimmer.
who gives a shit about hannah montana, or pair of kings, or kick it up!!! Go back to little mermaid, mouse house, and LION KING!! DISNEY YOU BECAME CRAP!!!!
this music is SO bittersweet and foreshadowing and tragically sad.. it also plays when young simba is playing with his father... foreshadowing his death.. :(
Nearly 21 and this scene and Mufusa's death still make me cry every time. Definately a sign of an amazing movie to still be so emotional after so long.
How could anyone possibly look at this without having all these emotions rushing through your body: first of all because of mufasa's appearance, ofcourse.. but then that music at the end..! The sound of victory!
i swear the lion king can replace the bible! it has such great messages not just for kids, but for adults too!!!! the past can hurt, but u can run from it, or learn from it!!! brilliant!!!!!!!!
that monkey is crazy...imagine you convince your friend to go back home (he is a run away) and as he runs back you starts screeaming "good go on get outta here HAAHAAHHAAHAH WOOOOOO WOOOOOOO HAHAH WOO"
Wow...so emotional. This is my favorite movie of ALL TIME. I felt like the classic Disney was so much more beautiful and epic than stuff they have now. They taught us lessons, and made us see things in a different way. I was born in 1991...and I was exposed to meaningful movies like The Lion King, Aladdin, beauty and the beast, Pocahontas, The Little Mermaid, etc. and to this day many of us still remember the songs. The movies nowadays...can't even hold a candle to the classic Disney. Period.
@ukhistorian yeah their original plan was to not have mufasa come back but they said they needed an emotional scene to really bring simba back to pride rock and said it made sense for mufasa to come back so before the whole scene of rafiki hitting simba they added the scene of mufasa coming back and brought in james earl jones to record the part and the rest is history :)
I imagine it's like Jesus who has forgotten who he is. Started to "sin" like lying etc then god comes down and reminds him. "you are my son, and the one true king"
I first saw this when i was 7 and today I'm 24 and it touches me even more now than it did then. Especially since my grandmother and dog have passed away. I sometimes wonder why our loved ones who have gone on can't appear in the sky like Mufasa did in this clip. This scene is very heartfelt.
Kids : You have forgotten who you are, and so forgotten us, look inside yourself disney, you are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the Circle Of Life.
Disney : How can i go back? I'm not who i used to be...
Kids : Remember who you are, you are our son, and the one true king. Remember who you are.
@PulseOfTheAwakening I completely agree. They think Hannah Montanna, HSM and Jonas Brothers are the real disney. They dont even show Mickey Mouse anymore. Disney has forgotten who they are

Reading Hamlet for the first time after being practically raised on the Lion King.
The Lion King: Remember who you are! Remember... remember...
Hamlet: Adieu, adieu, adieu! Remember me!
The only real difference I can see with the ending of the scenes is that Simba didn't go insane afterwards.
