  • the first line that comes out of mufusa's mouth gets me every time "simba, you have forgotten me.you have forgotten who you are and so you have forgotten me" such a powerful scene

  • why does this scene get me every time even though my father is still alive?

  • The Lion King the best Disney movie ever.

  • It's been so many years since I seen this. I had forgotten how awesome this scene is!

  • Every time. EVERY TIME! *bawls*

  • my favorite part of this movie!

  • Love this scene!

  • This scene to me is God <3

remembering who i am in Him

  • The only thing that would make this scene even more poignant than it is would be if it was raining, heavily.

  • makes me cry

  • at 2:02 Rafiki talks dutch. Wat was dat?

  • Everything about this scene is just plain epic beyond words.

  • Chills 0:54.

    From 0:43-0:55.

  • Reading Hamlet for the first time after being practically raised on the Lion King.

The Lion King: Remember who you are! Remember... remember...

Hamlet: Adieu, adieu, adieu! Remember me!

The only real difference I can see with the ending of the scenes is that Simba didn't go insane afterwards.

  • When I was a kid, I actually believed you could talk to dead people like this. lol

  • that scene reminds me of my mother. she passed away 5 years ago, and we used to watch that movie together when i was just a child...and now that scene gives me courage....happy tears come to my eyes...:) :) so beautiful.

  • Im german and I saw it the first time in otone. WOW!! its so awesome and i still get wet eyes!

  • something about mufasas voice... powerful lines right here, love this scene

  • Difficult to imagine this but,

    Vader = Mufusa.

  • @HypercaneKyle THATS BECAUSE JAMES EARL JONES IS UNBELIEVEABLY TALENTED. :D

  • @Linkfanoftheyear So true!

  • @Linkfanoftheyear I totally agree... LOVE JAMES EARL JONES !!!!

  • Im 23 but this scene still makes me cry,i did when i was a little kid and still does. Even more when my brother died. He's up somewhere smiling to me :) but i miss him deeply... :\

  • wow.. after all these years this still gives me goosebumps..

  • "Simba..."

    "Father?"

    "Simba, use the force..."

  • I freaking love Rafiki.

  • Though Mufasa wasn't the main character, he played a bigger part than a main character, he journeyed back to the land of the living in ghost form, to tell his one and only son to go back

  • Mufasa:Disney...

    Disney:*Looks up* Mufasa...

    Mufasa"Disney, you have forgotten me

    Disney:NO! how could i?

Mufasa:you have forgotten who you are and so forgotten me, look inside yourself Disney, you are more than what you have become...you must take your place in the circle of classic disney movies..

Disney:how can i go back? im not who i used to be...

Mufasa:remember who you are..you are Disney, and the one true King of movies...remember...

    Disney..NO..PLEASE..DONT LEAVE ME...MUFASA!

  • Mufasa needs to do this to the DISNEY now.....

  • goosebumps

  • I dont KNOW WHY I think the most beautiful part is how the baboon says "look harder" the way he just says it.. amazing

  • 240p we meet again

  • Comment removed

  • "You must take your place in the Circle of Life!"

  • My father says the same thing mufasa tells simba , and today I do drugs and I drink to much , like simba says , im not who I use to be , but his words keeps me going on .

  • one reason new movies suck: they're all about "believe in yourself and you'll succeed and be happy".we all know life doesn't really work that way.....just a thought i had watchin this FREAKIN AWESOME scene. hail hans zimmer.

  • I saw this in 3-D and I still cried at this scene.

  • When Mufasa speaks the words, "You are my son, and the one true king" this ties in with that big inspirational climax in the music - spine chilling!

  • Epic dialogue, epic voice acting, epic music, epic animation... WHY CAN'T DISNEY BE LIKE THIS ANYMORE?

  • meat loaf face at 0:56

  • Correction, at 1:49 the giant cloud is not on the Disney DVD of the Diamond Edition

  • 1:49 is not in the blu-ray release of the Lion King. I'm pissed. Just saw it right now

  • @aDinoSupremacist i think its because the cloud was in the shape of a dick

  • @xxcoltenxx1 God damn parent groups. They're just as bad as George Lucas

  • Mufasa: You didn't kill me. Scar did. Now go kick his ass and be king.

Simba: You mean I've been blaming myself for nothing all this time?! Damn!

  • who gives a shit about hannah montana, or pair of kings, or kick it up!!! Go back to little mermaid, mouse house, and LION KING!! DISNEY YOU BECAME CRAP!!!!

  • DISNEY I BEG YOU REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE. I MEAN DAMN DOES WALT/ROY DISNEY HAVE TO COME BACK FROM THE GRAVE TO MAKE YOU REMEMBER???

  • 1:35 music unforgetable

  • this music is SO bittersweet and foreshadowing and tragically sad.. it also plays when young simba is playing with his father... foreshadowing his death.. :(

  • This scene always gives me goose bumps.....its breathtakingly beautiful!

  • This music!! Gets me everytime

  • I cry to that scene when i was little.

  • I still cry watching this scene

  • This is my absolut favorit scene, it's soo beautiful and powerful. <3

  • I can never watch this movie without getting chocked up.. this movie hits hard for those who lost their father especially at a young age..

  • @bluefairyayana dude just thinking about it makes me teary eyed. and im a 20 year old guy

  • This seen goes deep.

  • ok i'm over 18 and i'm so seeing this in 3D when it comes September 16th

i've never had a dad, he abandoned this family

and i still cry at this scene

  • @Purpleisawesome93 glad im not the only one, my dad died when i was 8.

  • Nearly 21 and this scene and Mufusa's death still make me cry every time. Definately a sign of an amazing movie to still be so emotional after so long.

  • @alannatindome Mee toooo!!

  • mufasa is the baddest mofo in the history of Disney!!!!!!

  • Wish Disney movies were like this nowadays

  • The greatest movie ever made!

  • Eu ja assisti esse filme muitas vezes... será umas das coisas que eu nunca irei enjoar na minha vida , simplesmente INCRIVEL!

  • i love rafiki

  • james earl jones is the shit

  • that music that starts when he says "he lives in you" Is so beautiful and nostalgic, best piece of music from lion king, sends shivers down my spine.

  • Simba.... If you only knew the power of the darkside.... Wait wrong film !!!

  • Simba: " Thats not my father.. It's just my reflection " Rafiki: " No.. Look harder.... You see he lives.. In.. You "

    Mufasa: " SIMBA! "

    Simba: " Father "

    Simply amazing!

  • Love it

  • @LuigiFletcher2012 How dare you disgrace the sanctity of this by making it about Justin Bieber. You should be stoned (with rocks...)

  • it gives me chills watching this, it gives me confidence our loved ones live in us:')

  • lol at 02:26

  • He lives in you. think about it people. what is this referencing to?

  • How could anyone possibly look at this without having all these emotions rushing through your body: first of all because of mufasa's appearance, ofcourse.. but then that music at the end..! The sound of victory!

    Busa Simba ! :D

  • shoot people......I shaved today....and all my hairs grew back.

you see what chills do to you.

    B)

  • i swear the lion king can replace the bible! it has such great messages not just for kids, but for adults too!!!! the past can hurt, but u can run from it, or learn from it!!! brilliant!!!!!!!!

  • I will be watching this in 3d with Justin Bieber!

  • ''he lives... in you.'' that always get me every time. my father is still alive, but still I don't know why it gets me. :(

  • This music is soooooo fantastic! makes me wanna cry!!!!! Love this scene... love TLK!!!!

  • His speech gives chills down my intier body, Its so Powerful.

You know for a cartoon....This is Very powerful

  • IT DOESN'T MATTA IT"S IN THE PAST

  • 7 people didn't look hard enough!

  • i love the music in this scene, hans zimmer really outdid himself with the scores for this movie

    \

  • WE ARE MORE THAN WHAT WE'VE BECOME.

  • awww this part is so cute where Simba sees his father again in ghost form

  • yes the past can hurt but u can either run from it or learn from it

  • that monkey is crazy...imagine you convince your friend to go back home (he is a run away) and as he runs back you starts screeaming "good go on get outta here HAAHAAHHAAHAH WOOOOOO WOOOOOOO HAHAH WOO"

  • "you see...he lives in you..."

  • Wow...so emotional. This is my favorite movie of ALL TIME. I felt like the classic Disney was so much more beautiful and epic than stuff they have now. They taught us lessons, and made us see things in a different way. I was born in 1991...and I was exposed to meaningful movies like The Lion King, Aladdin, beauty and the beast, Pocahontas, The Little Mermaid, etc. and to this day many of us still remember the songs. The movies nowadays...can't even hold a candle to the classic Disney. Period.

  • I' m actually crying...father, how I miss you, come to see me too...

  • Greatest scene of the movie...and to think it almost didn't make it in the movie...thank God they added it

  • @Spideymrw Really? How?

  • @ukhistorian yeah their original plan was to not have mufasa come back but they said they needed an emotional scene to really bring simba back to pride rock and said it made sense for mufasa to come back so before the whole scene of rafiki hitting simba they added the scene of mufasa coming back and brought in james earl jones to record the part and the rest is history :)

  • out of all of the brilliant disney films made this is the best says it all really

  • 6 people who disliked this... I've forgiven you, but don't sin anymore

  • BEST movie disney have ever made

  • The Lion King was the very first movie I ever saw in theaters. I was 2 at the time. And after all these years, I still love this movie

  • GOOSEBUMBS!!!!

  • I imagine it's like Jesus who has forgotten who he is. Started to "sin" like lying etc then god comes down and reminds him. "you are my son, and the one true king"

  • @giggidygoo17

The moment in the bible before Jesus truly knew his purpose, when John the Baptist baptizes him and the sky opens up and God's all, "You are my son."

I totally thought of that, too!

  • @chickendolla scenes of this nature have been scattered throughout literature, even thousands of years before the bible was written.

  • Classic example of Father-Son Love!!!!

  • Classic example of Father-Son Love!!!!

  • I used to make my dad watch his with me everyday during his lunch break until he past away when I was 4. Coincidence?

  • I can't believe that this was about to be a deleted scene! SO SO SO glad it wasn't deleted.

  • 6 people don't know who they are!

  • Wise words from Rafiki!! <3

  • Oh and when Rafiki says "He Lives in you." Those are great words to go buy when missing a loved one.

  • I first saw this when i was 7 and today I'm 24 and it touches me even more now than it did then. Especially since my grandmother and dog have passed away. I sometimes wonder why our loved ones who have gone on can't appear in the sky like Mufasa did in this clip. This scene is very heartfelt.

  • Kids : Disney, you have forgotten us..

    Disney : No, how could i ?

Kids : You have forgotten who you are, and so forgotten us, look inside yourself disney, you are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the Circle Of Life.

Disney : How can i go back? I'm not who i used to be...

Kids : Remember who you are, you are our son, and the one true king. Remember who you are.

Disney : No please don't leave me !

    Kids : remember, remember, remember

  • @PulseOfTheAwakening

They should make you the president of Disney :D

  • @TheAbridgedGamer

It would be my greatest honor ^^

  • @PulseOfTheAwakening lol it should say the 90's kids.... so young adults by now..

  • @TheJuliewood

kids will always stay kids.. if the kids of today would see this REAL disney, they would be blown away by it,

but they don't know of it so ... :(

  • @PulseOfTheAwakening I completely agree. They think Hannah Montanna, HSM and Jonas Brothers are the real disney. They dont even show Mickey Mouse anymore. Disney has forgotten who they are

  • @PulseOfTheAwakening lmaooooooooooooooooooooooo!! XD

  • @Simba19892011

    YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • @PulseOfTheAwakening Most true comment ever made.

  • everytime i watch this i cry, such a great film that brings so many happy memories of my childhood <3

  • Mufasa: Remember... who you are... you are my son!

Simba: No...No thats not true... thats impossible!

Mufasa: Search your feelings... you know it to be true!

    Simba: Noooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

  • I'm pretty sure this was the first film I ever watched, I used to watch it, rewind it an then watch it all over again repeatedly. So glad I had this film and not all the extremely materialistic disney films the youth of today have to watch!

  • The 6 people who don't like this must be gay.

  • My dad died when I was a little kid. This film really helped me cope with it because it made me feel like he's always with me, living through me. I always cry at this scene.

  • @Purpleisawesome93 I'm sorry for your loss... and yeah the quote ''he lives... in you.'' by Rafiki gets me all the time

  • @Purpleisawesome93 this part does the same for me and i didn't understand why until i was older

  • @Purpleisawesome93 I'm sorry but he's somewhere safe now trust me. :')

  • @Purpleisawesome93 I exactly how you feel.....

  • Disney, you have forgotten who you are, remember, remember.

  • i loved this movie as a kid its such a classic!

  • I love this scene I cry everytime.

  • @tbsprophet357 I have to leave the room sometimes brings back many memories for me. I am personally looking forward to the blu-ray re-release.

  • Mufasa: Simba, you have forgotten me.

Simba: NO I HAVEN'T, UNCLE FRANK!

  • @johnnyenchilada hahahah xd

  • Could they please have gotten someone other than Matthew Broderick to do the voice, please? His voiceacting is the one large black eye on a otherwise near flawless movie.

  • @bushbasher85 r u kidding me, mattew makes simba

  • Ow, jeez what was that for!?

It doesn't matter, it's in the past!

    Yeah but it still hurts!

Oh yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it.

  • I'm writing a paper on this movie right now! If you pay attention, it's very transcendental! Thorough and Emerson would approve ;]

  • I just realised it's like a modern day Hamlet give or take a few changes.

  • ~this scene gives me chills..

  • Mufasa's ghost is like the voice of God. This scene is so amazing even as a 19 year old it still sends chills down my spine. I wish my father would come down like this. The music is so beautiful and Epii cant describe it. LONG LIVE MUFASA. and 6 people have forgotten who they are. But I never will. THANK U GOD FOR HAVING ME BORN IN THE 90's.

  • this scene is emotionally epic with such an awsome messege

  • I cried at this bit when I watched this on the west end the other day! Strange because I never usually cry at this in the film. locosherman1, you are so right! I guess Mufasa maybe didn't have a lot of time though?

  • why didnt mufasa tell him about scar oO and that monkey is acting like yoda

  • 6 people need to get hit my the stick

  • @wolfspawn0527 ------- Hell yeah, 6 people have forgotten who they are.

  • 1:30

such a glorious scene that we'll never get to see in todays disney :(

  • This movie... I mean, I've see this movie since I'm a child, and I still can't watch it without crying or getting chills at some parts. Best childhood movie ever, in my opinion. And It stills actual, and full of messages. Amazing.

  • You're right Cpapa18. Me too!!! :) Hey, did I get a goose bumps??!! :D

  • before my friend took her art test that she was nervous for, i told her..."Remember who u r...you r my son and the one true king....remember..who u r..." and she passed :)

  • Go on! Get outta here!

  • I'm not sure if God exists or not but He probably sounds like this.

  • When Mufasa dies, and when Mufasa comes back-- those are the two scenes that murder my heart. I'm 20 years old now! I hadn't seen this movie in YEARS since tonight with my roommates, and we cried like BABIES! Isn't that so shocking? It's a children's movie, and it still makes fully grown kids cry. CLASSIC!

  • @zarbar2

Everyone cries during the lion king damn it :)

  • @zarbar2 Your not alone, brother.

  • @zarbar2 You're an adult, and not a kid
