@whowantsabighug you can always play Uru: Ages Beyond Myst (NOT URU LIVE! thats an online version of uru that doesnt exist anymore), it's not in the context of the original Myst story. You can even start playing individual Myst series if you want, you wont find youself clueless because you dont know story elements. I highly recomend Myst IV: Revelation, it continues the great story, has great worlds (Ages) to explore, beatiful graphics and soundtrack.
@soulhunter59 It is in the same context (forgive me for what I said in the previous comment), but the story is a little different. Same makers as Myst, Riven (Sequel to Myst) and Myst V. Same kind of Ages to explore (including D'ni in the free expansion), same kind of puzzles, nice graphics and soundtrack too as with all Myst games. Overall it's a nice game worth playing with many Myst elements.
According to Cyan, the makers of this series, the Myst games were computer games made by the parents of Yeesha, a character URU. So, you don't need much backstory to get into the game, which is mostly about solving puzzles in order to explore the Cavern and various Ages created by the D'ni. Itis now available free online as a multiplayer game. Most players are willing to answer questions and help. Go to mystonline . com.
There was never a combat system in any of the Myst games since these games are like the old adventure games that were all the rage back in the 1980's.
Maybe they should have added some elements to Uru so it would have appealed to a bigger gaimg audience, but then that would have ruined what Myst and Uru were all about. Solving a mystery, having an adventure, and just enjoying the beauty of the place.
I like the fact that books are portals. Because also in real life, books bring u into other worlds, but here they really do. =)
