@Diablo112687 True true, but its not the same as it used to be, no one pushes the envelope the way Sam, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Lenny Bruce. With them, it was about using comedy as a medium to make you think about things in a fresh way, even if only for a few minutes.

I watch a lot of Hicks, Carlin, Kinison, etc., on Youtube. But, I never understand the people who keeps saying that there's no one good out there anymore. Surely Louis C.K. is up there with those guys, and he's hardly the only great comedian out there right now.

@bfmvryan90 No, he is. He is actually a lot more on the ball than Hicks or Kinison when it comes to social commentary. Carlin can give him more of a run for his money, whereas Bruce and Pryor are a bit more unique in that they actually played an important social role. Louis C.K. is a smart comedian, who's funny as shit, and is great at social commentary. He's obviously up there, he just doesn't have the nostalgia factor yet since he's still around in full force.

I've been interested in trying out standup lately and I have been playing guitar for ten years and want to be a musician; I thought about combining the two in a show together kind of like Bill Hicks would mix some of his guitar work and singing into his CDs, but I wanted to actually play on stage. I've only listened to Sam literally one day and I see him play then do standup. I feel like I'd be ripping him off... I thought I had a good idea! Damn... Sam is great though.
