"It ain't right for a black female/male to be living in a house like this because basically we are the strongest in America and we supposed to be living like kings and queens".

    ummmm.... racist.

  • @Boogonomotry AND YET THE GOV CLAIMING YES WE CAN BULLSHIT THEY NEVER BEEN FOR US WE MUST BE FOR EACH OTHER FUCK THE GOV!

  • @ Kaycee, what about extreme poverty do you not get?? people do not want to live like this.To even say the word "exploitation" and apply that to someone in poverty and not those who immersed african people in this condition by way of "emancipation" and no true solutions for former-enslaved people who are still exploited is bizarre.

  • that looks lonley may god bless you people

  • Master027063. These places that you see are located in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi. Many people don't want to believe that millions of people still live in the bondage of poverty in this county. Throughout the south are thousands of little isolated townships where people are living in third world conditions.

  • @MASTER027063 Tallahatchie County

  • Hello Ms. Antoinette,

I would like to help as much as i can. can you please send info on where i send needed things. i am struggling myself being a single mom but God blesses me to keep my head of above water. If I can help someone else then i am more than willing to do so. i got some info at the end of the videos and I will contact to and we can go from there but for now please send me any info on how to help.

  • I don't know what you would have to gain. I merely posed a question, I didn't make a statement. What exactly do you suggest I do to help? If your answer is for me to send money to some unknown (to me) address, how far would that really go? From what I gather about watching these films, the two main issues are lack of industry and and education in the areas profiled. Even if the jobs were there to be had, would there be enough potential workers with the necessary skills to fill them?

  • In response to your statement, what I have to gain is getting help for those in need. No, I am not asking you to send money to any organization or me. Raising awareness is one of the most important things I can do to help. Because of the video tapes. People from all over the United States will be coming to Mississippi this month to lay out a plan that can help someone in need. Once again, if there were jobs, the skills would be another issues or challenge.

  • I have to comment on the tone of these clips. I really can't shake the feeling that this woman is exploiting these people, to what ends I'm not sure. Yes, it's unfortunate that people are living like this anywhere, especially in a country as wealthy as the U.S., but I really fail to see how putting people on display like this helps.

  • kaycee67,

You are entitled to your own opinion. What do I have to gain my exploiting people who are suffering? The fact is, I will not allow the issues of people suffering to be pushed to back of America's agenda, as if people who live in conditions like this does not exist. Secondly, and most importantly, people are stepping up to the plate and doing something to help. If anything, join us to help. We'll be happy to have you.

  • @kaycee67 i dont think she is trying to exploit them, just not an expert ethnographer. she should be a participant observer, using life histories, informal interviews, and collective conversation. which she does, it just comes of very awkward. you really need to just live down there for like a year, get integrated in the community, and only turn on your camera when the people are comfortable. poor people would like to know when you're coming too so they can take a shower and do their hair!

  • the kid in orange got too racial

  • When you go to rural areas the operatunity for well paying jobs

are small if any.You have to travel.

Think of the people that live in rural

    areas with out Transportation.

Yall are doing the work of the ones favored by god. Public Service.

  • Yes, it is!

  • mssquirrely,

    I agree with you strongly.

  • Extremely heartbreaking....Speechless...

  • Mbricker, you are quiet welcome. To the person who made the selfish comment. No, I do not want to be the center of attention. Please keep in mind I am the asking the questions to the youth.

  • Thank you, Antoinette, for bringing these young men together, and to all these young men who opened their wonderful hearts and minds to us strangers out here. I missed the conference due to a health issue, but had something to do with making it happen. This video is the kind of thing we hoped for as we thought about what might come out of it. We will meet again when we march from the Delta to the Rust Belt next summer, continuing to build the unsettling force!

  • EVERY CITY Child needs to take a Trip to the Poorest parts of the World - Maybe they'll REALIZE that those $200 Timber-lands are not IMPORTANT at all - MAYBE!
