We have just got back from the Hotel Portaventura....and as far as i can say the hotel was spotless...they must have had a transformation since last year....it was unfair saying that the water was dirty as you forgot to mention that what you showed was not the pool but the lake......anyone thinking of going please go as you wont be let down....a great hotel
This video is a disgrace, you have obviously suffered a personal bad incident and are now trying to loose them business, which should clearly sort out the queue line issues! Also, having just come back from there and the best holiday I have ever had, I feel obliged to point out to all the unsuspecting viewers that the facilities have improved drastically from this state. Also, in seasons of hot weather, 2-4pm in Spain is the siesta time. Workers have every right to take this off.
I have been to Portaventura at least 5 times now and stayed at the Portaventura hotel, I think it was amazing! Me and my family are going back this month and I am taking a friend to show her how good it is. This is my favourite holiday resort and can not believe that "standards have dropped". I am very excited to be going back and I know when my holiday is over I will 100% want to go again.
Just come back from Portaventura Hotel, and have to agree its not up to scratch. The workmanship round the hotel is a real budge up, told my husband he must have learnt by the spanish. Close to park is a bonus, but food in hotel, was dull and un interesting, ate only one breakfast out of 7 and went out for dinner 5 nights out of 7 into salou and paid for it, we had originally booked halfboard. Also dissappointed with entertainment which used to be everynight, not now.
@mazzmourant This is because the time of your visit was not a priority time for children's visitations. I can assure you entertainment does run every night. I've just been there for 7 of them.
we visited portaventura 4 years in a row ! always staying in hotel portaventura ! never had any problems with anything! its not what your saying it is ! we are going this june once again 2 enjoy a satisfying hol . . . doubt i will be appauled this year!
Next year PortAventura shareholder changes and this hotel will belong to Ivestindustrial. The hotel is called Villa Mediterrania and maintenance will probably be what it was in 2010.
Thanks the ghostofyuu, the mixed reviews may be in accordance with the different times of year people are visiting the hotel, i have found that the majority of bad reviews were in end of june, july and beginning of august, which is likely due to busy season, majority of people travelling in august/sept are leaving great reviews which is definitely promising for me. I will keep you all posted upon my return thanks for your help.
Oh dear, I was booked up for El Paso, But weeks b4 my departure date thomas cook phoned 2say el paso closed early this year so we had been upgraded 2 hotel portaventura- I thought great! seemed a lovely hotel - until I saw this, I am very disappointed, that is certainly not 4star!! I leave a week tomorrow and was very excited!! Since you are a frequent visitor to the resort, would you mind telling me if there are any close by grocery stores? I have2 young kids who may not like hotel food.
It's very noticeable that the hotel is not as good as it was. The food is still good and the beach club is superb tho very pricey to eat at - take some food from breakfast to eat at lunch time -- we made sandwiches at breakfast and took them with us.
See second note as well - this is over character limit.
Hi Killum - There are various supermarkets in Salou but we only used them for water - v pricey in the hotel. It's about a 15 minute walk into Salou and you can get a taxi back for 5 euros - you don't want to be carrying your purchases all the way back - especially heavy bottles of water.
I think your kids will be fine with the hotel food - my son is fussy but he loved the pasta and chips and there was always chicken and some other plain meat. Good desserts also for kids.
Hi WilCoHols - Thanks for your reply, I'm glad you have told me it is only a 15minute walk into salou, I thought it was about an hour away - haha, thats reassuring, unfortunately, also after booking, we were informed by thomas cook that the beach club is closing early too and wont be available for our trip, glad salou isn't too far though so we can travel to the beaches at salou.
Hope you don't mind me asking questions, but would you mind telling me how the entertainment in the hotel was? also what the weather was like? 1 good thing about our hol as opposed to yours is we get one entrance per day to water park. I really don't know much about this hotel, an I was struggling to find more out, which is why I'm glad I stumbled accross your video, Does all the rooms have private balcony's? are you allowed to smoke on balcony's and have your own food/drink?
I've just come back from this hotel today, and I didn't think it was as bad as it is made out to be.
We also were booked into El Paso and then were moved at the last minute, and we read all these bad reviews about Hotel Portaventura and were dreading the holiday.
But it's really not as bad as this.
We had no problem with bugs, no problems with queues in the buffet, the rooms were basic but okay for the holiday, and were as we expected.

Also, the location of the hotel is fantastic, it is right on the park and access is very easy.
The pools are nice and are cleaned daily.
Evening entertainment is moree for the children, with chances to meet characters.
In my opinion, it's really not that bad, and I really did enjoy my holiday.
Hope this helps.

Hotel ent is really aimed at kids
Weather superb - no rain in 2 weeks
Only some rooms have balconies - less likely on ground floor
Food and drink is officially not allowed but we had no problems carrying in large amounts of water.
Smoking seems ok as long as it's not by the pool.
Nice one on Caribe.
