  • Wonderful singer. One of the best ever. Singer, writer, musician. He could play anything.

  • Gene was one of the BEST from the oldies!!!!

    Excellent legacy he left

God Called him home and he is singing in Heaven!

    ******stars and thumbs up

  • Can anyone recommend a live performance of only love can break a heart? Thanks for any help

  • great singer !!! i saw him in las vegas the year before he passed away !!! his show was not that good, but his singing was good, the band was great, but in between songs was nothing but dead air, no talking no patter no audience interaction. but he sang great !!!

  • i was introduced to Gene Pitney by my older sister and i still have 3 of his original albums that she geve me in the late 60's and they are still played alot...lol...loved him when i first heard him and still go....we will always remember him and his music,,,Town Without Pity...House without windows,,,Who Shot Liberty Valence....classic

  • i still treasure his 10 yrs after album and i bought it in 1971

  • Man how I love this man's voice. Gene Pitney is by far one of the best. You can actually hear the tears in his voice.

  • Transistor radio..1965...and gene pitney.....and we knew all the lyrics...town without pity and liberty valance favorites..

  • He was one of the greatest ever!

  • Ahhhh what a legend!! He sang about love, heartache & teen angst. Another great performer lost waaaay too soon. Gene Pitney and Roy Orbison.........absolute legends of the '60's. They sang our "Feelings" and tugged at our heart strings.

  • wonder when this video was recorded? late sixties?

  • one person has no soul, no heart

  • My all-time favorite singer, thought he and Roy Orbison both had that operatic style where they could hit notes, nobody else could come close on!!!! Wish I had had the chance to have seen him in concert!!!!

  • @207nkf One of my greatest regrets is not seeing Gene in concert. I could kick my own self in the ass.

  • Very Cool!

    D

  • I saw him live at Crystal Lake, Ct.. paled around with him in Rockville,Ct6

  • Great!!

Wish I could have seen him in concert

  • Remarkable voice, category of songs and performer! R.I.P. Gene!

  • Gene Pitney is one of my all time favorites. Each song marks a special time in my youth.

  • @LindaMakofski OH how much I agree with you. I used to listen to one of his albums when I babysat for my mothers good friend. I was like 12 yrs old and I had such a crush on Gene Pitney.

  • Respond to this video...I loved seeing him perform live. Would have died for a chance to see him when I was young. Rest In Peace

  • @washinghtoncounty Im fucking her good and propa mate, shes completely forgotten you.

  • he wrote some hits for others also

  • He wrote for Ricky Nelson HELLO MARY LOU and for Roy Orbison CLAUDETTE.

  • He didn't write 'CLAUDETTE' I think you will find Pitney wrote 'TODAYS TEARDROPS' (highest ranking hit Pitney written for Orbison) and Darkness (done by Pitney and The Embers first) Pitney also written 'HARMONEY' for Steve Lawerance, Rubberball (in his mothers name due to a law suit). for Marty Wilde and Bobby Vee and of coarse 'I Wanna Love My Life Away (for himself). He also written 'He's A Rebel for Darlyne Love but Crystels scored a US number 1 from it.

  • Your're right. I knew there was something white Claudette. Now i know that Roy Orbison wrote it for The Everly Brothers. Thanks for telling the "REAL" story's behind the songs.

  • Gene didn`t write Caludette, Roy did.Claudette was Roy`s wife.

  • Orbison wrote Claudette after his first wife of the same name.

  • Originals are very rare in show business. Each deserves to be cherished and acclaim. Hence, Gene Pitney.

  • I love this, what a legend I love his voice so much!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Rockville Rocket. Thanks very much.

  • Thanks, wjhmosaenglish03

  • Excellent,

  • This is from a TV show in 1966.I saw Gene at Carnigie Hall in 1992,what a voice he still had. ;)
