They were a "tween" band. Stylistically they bridged 70's rock and 80's rock. They were the pinnacle of what came before and an indication of what would come next. I liked them and saw them live in 1979 and thought they were awesome. My band used to play Nature's Child. They were abandoned by American rock audiences after the US festival in 1983 for no particular reason. Probably because they represented an older style rock and roll that simply wasn't cool anymore.
I saw the Allied forces tour in '81 (the Palace) Albany, NY and again on the Never Surrender tour (1983 i think, Glens Falls NY) great band, so under rated
@n2112bytor2112p Rock and Roll Machine, Hot Time in the City Tonight, Lay it on the Line, Magic Power, Rocky Mountain Way (cover but a very good one) Spellbound, Fight the Good Fight, Follow Your Heart, others... I would recommend the CD "Triumph Classics" to start and if you like what you hear search out other good songs missing from that compilation.
I do remember seeing this concert on MTV. Seeing the brightly lit "TRIUMPH" in the background brings back a ton of memories. What must have been a Sunday afternoon, the day after this concert aired on MTV, my friends and I went to a little BMX hangout called, "The Glen" in Mission Viejo, CA and all we could talk about was how amazing the concert was. We were 12 years old and believed EVH was "God", but were dumbfounded after watching his equal perform on our televisions the night before!
Yup,great stuff, this is rare footage! Progressions Of Power is prob. my fave Triumph album....just listen to "Hard Road".....Emmett is vastly undervalued as an influential guitar player....would a top hat and a Les Paul have made a difference?.....
Triumph is ,, rock'n roll ,, partys,, good beer,, nice weather for barbeque on the beach,, beutifull women,, youth,,good guitar,, Best canadian rock band of all times. I wish i could turn back in time. Sad that time passes by so fast. As long there is life, there is hope
I saw 'em on this tour at Rockford, IL on February 5, 1982. It was the "Allied Forces" tour and I don't recall anyone other than a local band opening for 'em. A good ticket for this show at the Rockford Metrocentre cost only $6.50. What a bargain.

Triumph was my favorite band, and the only time I got to see em was at Canada's Wonderland. The next day, I heard they'd broken up. I was shocked.
