Season 9 was only 'weak' because of the main cast's acting, and some of the characters. Scrubs season 1-8 didn't have that issue, but lots of other shows did. Not everybody is top-notch, and some characters have a right to be inherently silly without exploring their profound side too much.

The Sacret Heart was´nt broke down, jd told wrong in S9-EP01 and it was only closed for one year because they had no chief physician for it, but now have a new.
Kim loses her job and goes back to Sacret Heart and lives near it with Sam, so JD also goes back.
When the janitor hears, that JD is there, he becomes the janitor of Sacret Heart and finds a penny in the door :).
then Ted comes back and Kelso comes back and eats muffins.

The only reason that everyone hated the new scrubs is because the original was in my opinion one of the better sit coms of the decade. If the original was never there, the new "Med School" one would have been a decent show, but it couldn't love up to the expectations people had for it much like what happens with many video games.

i think season 9 was exactly what they had in mind. its a NEW scrubs! if you take it and compare it to the first 8 seasons... yeah its not the same. but if you look at it as they promoted it ... scrubs 2.0 . a different kind of show, its great! im not gonna lie the first time i watched it.. it had some ok points but whatever.. but i re watched it with my brother and we were in tears laughing at it. a real shame its no longer. its way better then most garbage considered comedy on these days

I think it actually could have been successful if they gave it a new name. Scrubs was such and amazing show and by keeping the same name all the loyal fans obviously were upset by the let down. I think if you gave it a new name you could have attracted new fans who weren't original Scrubs fans. Instead it attracted all the old fans who were disappointed and upset. I know I was let down by season 9 because it wasnt the show i fell in love with
@xwahinex But on the other hand, a loyal fan can easily find out that it's not supposed to be a real continuation, like Bill just says in this interview (an its even said on wikipedia that he didn't want to call this sequel scrubs anymore). A loyal fan would handle the 9th season as a new show, just like Lawrence suggests, and wouldn't cry that it's so bad and not the old series anymore.
@xwahinex the really tragic thing is that Bill Lawrence wanted to give it a new name ('scrubs med', I think) so that it could be kind of 'fresh start'. ABC wouldn't let it happen though. I still miss scrubs :(
@xwahinex Well, I think they tried to name is Scrubs: Med School, but for some reason, they weren't able to. You can see in the opening credits, it says "Med School" somewhere under "Scrubs." But yeah, it definitely wasn't the same show :/

I haven't seen any of season 9 and, quite frankly, I don't intend to. The end to season 8 was so perfect - it's probably my favourite ending to any TV show ever - that I just want to leave it at that. There's no need for season 9 to ruin such memories.

I loved season 9. yeh, i loved season 1-8 better, but season 9 was still better than most other television. and although it changed dramatically (it was a semi-spin off!) it didn't change your perceptions of the characters that had been build for 8 years. so although it wasn't perfect it didn't destroy your enjoyment of previous seasons and therefore was worth watching.
its really boring without the Janitor and J.D I used to love this show so much laughed my ass off every episode season 9 wasn't as bad as I was told but i was really exited when I heard there was going to be one and after i saw it was very disapointed it should have been based on the same story as Season 1-8

Scrubs, one of the best TV series shows ever made. It lasted 8 series and they mucked up the 9th and should've ended on the 8th. Thats what ill tell my grandkids :)

its not the same but I still like the new season...bummed they cancelled it....They should just give the show a different title, then people won't feel they have to compare the two and can just enjoy the new season/show for what it is.......After all Frasier vs Cheers - you can like both....

I haven't seen any of season 9 and, quite frankly, I don't intend to. The end to season 8 was so perfect - it's probably my favourite ending to any TV show ever - that I just want to leave it at that. There's no need for season 9 to ruin such memories.

@SamCarricoPictures oh definitely season 9 of scrubs because that 70s show kept most of its main characters, whereas scrubs lost half the cast. the new interns couldn't act for shit. it was a disaster. in that 70s show, it was only seth meyers who couldnt act. god he is terrible

I loved season 9. yeh, i loved season 1-8 better, but season 9 was still better than most other television. and although it changed dramatically (it was a semi-spin off!) it didn't change your perceptions of the characters that had been build for 8 years. so although it wasn't perfect it didn't destroy your enjoyment of previous seasons and therefore was worth watching.

Reasons why you arent a real Scrubs fan, and your wrong.
1: The old Sacred Heart was torn down, and the new hospital on campus is still named " Sacred Heart " so technically your wrong there.
2: JD guest star's in 7 episodes, and transitions the main character to " Lucy " .
3:Elliot, Janitor, and Todd all guest star in the season, they aren't completely gone.
4: The intro song WAS ruined, i have to agree, they ruined Lazlo Banes hit.
5: Turk began to regrow grayed hair.

the biggest mistake abc made w/ scrubs 9 was not letting bill lawrence give the show a new name to represent that it is another show (like he mentioned here)...w/o a new name, there will always be whiny fans asking why jd isn't there anymore. i'm really sad the show didnt do well. i liked it because i accepted that it wasnt the original scrubs. i think a lot of people couldn't accept that tho.
