the original music vid for this song is just good charlotte, billy does the guitar part at the end and he does it really well, benji does the "on my own" parts. in the version with matt and syn matt only does the second verse and syn does the guitar exactly the same way as billy does it, so people can't really say that billy isn't good at it. people seem to forget this is GC's song, not A7X's.

You're still playing the same progression. As footballpunk16 says, they usually play in D. Either way, it takes loads of creativity to create a solo. Being in the same key doesnt really change anything... I dont see how that's an argument for syn being bad..
