your arms are collapsing before you drive your knee, which is not allowing you to fully complete the jump. You need to make sure your arms are fully extended throughout the entire jump, keep your trail leg straight, and row. Push through the pole until you are completely upside down before throwing yourself over the bar. Hold the inversion as long as possible, dont focus on making it over the bar, because it will mess up your form. also, maybe consider a pole with a stiffer flex rate :)
Row that damn boat man. On your pull you are not pushing off. You may want to consider moving up to a five pound heavier pole for more power to carry you through a push off.
your arm collapsed. and when you go up you look at the bar the entire time. you should be looking back to other end of the run way. also this will keep you in line so you can push off the top of the pole to turn at the end of your jump.
drive harder with your left leg and keep your trail leg down a little bit longer to ride that bend and you already know about you front arm collapsing it would be nice to see your plant more but arc your body a little longer before curling up and you will easily have 14 to 15 feet
First off, you need to have that drive knee jammed into your chest which will then bring your hips back and let your trail leg swing through. Right now your bringing both your legs into your body and balling up, you need that drive knee. As mentioned from other people, your right arm has collapsed and you have almost no press. Lastly, you kinda stop rowing half way through your vault. If you kept rowing, you wouldn't of come out as early as you did and would would have been a foot over that bar.
It's good that your striving to correct things. Beginner to Bubka is a dvd you need to purchase, this is the number one way to improve a young vaulter quick with easy instructions. Be a beast at plant and control the pole don't let it control you by collapsing your left arm. Your drive knee is going straight from the plant, keep it tucked tight until inversion. And always hold higher and run faster to vault higher. You'll be fine, never get satisfied.
i'm guessing your step is under hard to tell no drive phase your dropping your lead knee you should jump up not in at take off you could swing more and turn sooner and those last two will help you get a better top hand also when your inverted your not continuing up the pole you need to pull so you can "drop in"
I agree with amliterature but would also add that your top arm is a bit forward (which is probably due to you not locking out your bottom arm). Once you lock it out you will definitely need a bigger pole and probably need to hold up a hand or so (you are going through fairly quick). Also it is hard to see but it looks like your bottom arm isn't getting inside which is stopping you from dropping your shoulders and getting upside down completely.
yes your arm is under.. you elbow is collapsing right when you take off... you fix that you will have more penetration and be able to clear higher heights
separate your trail leg from your drive leg more and make sure that your trail leg is locked out with toes pointed down (drive leg toes up) to provide a quick and powerful swing, also try looking at your left hand before extending because it seems you extend a bit early, this should help you both get deeper into the pit as well as higher
i can tell you three things i see in this that would help ALOT. first, ur proooobably a bit under, second ur plant is WAAAY to late it might look goofy but have the pole out in front of you and up before you get to the box (the russians do it n it works), and third ur collapsing ur bottom arm. which may be cause by the late plant and being under
it looks like you aren't driving your takeoff knee at all in the beginning, so i think you probably aren't jumping at takeoff really. its hard to tell from this angle, but you may need a stiffer pole too. top end looks good, but it'll be better if you fix your takeoff.
keep ur swing a little longer, ur bottom arm during the plant cant break down as fast, and get ona bigger pole, and when u get vertical try keeping the pole even closer to u because the pole seems slightly a bit to far from where it should be.
@TWchronic let your legs get sucked in when you take off. it'll bring your bottom half up more easier than by swinging your legs alone. plus it's a lot easier :)
nice job so far but you plant is collapsing right when you leave the ground. make sure your arms are extended when you plant and push up. typically, when you make this mistake and are still bending the pole as much as your are, it means you need to be on a stiffer pole. if you fix this plant issue, it will put alot more energy into your vault and you will start going through stiffer poles.
Yeah like most of the other people are saying you need to make sure you really get that one knee pulling up to your chest. It really gets your momentum moving.
Hold higher..... you can always hold higher.... pick up a lil more speed everytime you do so and step back about 2-4 inches more too...But hey.... I'm a freshmen and you are doing a lot better than me! That is also higher than our high school girls record, wish you da best! :D
if you do still pole vault. like the others said you lower arm is collasped (i cant spell) but also you could drop into your cylinder more (get verticle) other wise your fine
ok well if you freeze it at 34 seconds, you can see that you're not bracing enough. in other words, you need to keep that right arm a little further out cuz if you don't you'll do a crossface like this one. also at 34 seconds, your drive knee is down when it should be up. you do bring it up later in the vault but it's better to get it up as soon as you leave the ground. The last thing I can see is that your swing leg is bent when it should be straight as much as possible.
make sure when u plant ur arm bisects ur ear(other wards straigh up) im a softmore im vaulting douple digits not sure on my highest yet...but yeat arm straight, keep ur feet toghter, ang dont slide ur pole into the pit...do one quick agressive plant...works fine...gud luck man...TO THE STARS!!!!!
you've got everything right except you left arm,you have your left armed locked it should straight. for that it is somewhere when you plant your left arm should already be straight when planting then you raise you right arm high. you shouldn't be close to the pole when take-off that negates all the hardwork of the run up when you lock in your left arm. stay down the pole pole(both arms straight0 then keep doing what you've been doing and have fun!
If you do these things then you have potential dude otherwise youll get stuck right there. Obviousely theres more involved but in my observation this is where I think your going wrong. Don't try to make it happen, don't try to bend pole, if you have a great approach, great high plant with both arms extended, tip plant in middle of box letting pole glide to back, youll have a explosive take off. That's your biggest issue, maybe youve fixed by now, who knows ,good luck
your stride is off, pole to low causing bad plant jammed at back of box which gives you no chance for power drive, arms are bent and to wide, should be at peak, left fully extended ,right with slight variation but extended @ plant, weak drive, explode with chest, drive leg @takeoff, both arms extended, trail leg back & drive leg bent til natural swing up, powerfull takeoff will keep you on track. Don't pull on pole.
Most problems are direct cause of approach: Your start 5-6 or 7 step? approach must be horizontal motion, excellerating with fastes at last 2-3 left.
Cause for bad vertical attempt:bad body position at approach, long strides in run, low pole @ plant, , pole angle @ 2 left from plant, 1st pole contact @box, drive through, pole angle @ tip contact in back of box, position of drive leg, chest, arms & trail @ take-off.
yeah its hard to tell whats going on since you arent showing the approach/takeoff, which are two vital parts of a succesful vault. i agree you should straighten arms, have a high knee drive and don't start your extend/pike so soon.
you have to practice more on a drill called "jagodin" . you have to control your bend on the pole and keep your body behind the pole as you are doing the jagodin.. And the same time focus on the drive knee.. And remember to get your arms straiten when doing this.. One step at the time, good luck ;)
you lose your drive knee and trail leg as soon as you takeoff and go straight to your back. I try to take off and push off as hard as I can with my toes which helps me stay back and get my trail leg long
n branching off of that once you correct your arms and get on bigger sticks youl need to devalop a stronger plant and more defined swing. as a lefty your left knee should be driving foward and your other trailing down low until you penetrate. think jumping 1) your hands to the bar 2) swing at the last second 3) then pull hard.. the simpler your thought process the better
Can't see where your takeoff is from this, but it is clearly evident that your lower arm has collapsed (bent) far too early. As much as your pole bends with the collapsed arm tells me you can handle a bigger pole with better technique. That will get you more time to get higher and deeper in the pit.
Gotta fix that bottom arm andin the invert let your shoulders drop back and fully extend

Your swing looks good, but you need to keep the bottom arm straight, and also get more of a pull in when you get vertical.

Try a longer drive phase with more drive knee. That should get younon a bigger pole very easily. Bigger pole means higher jumps.
ryukintakeda 9 months ago
you have no drive knee either. your left knee needs to be more powerfull and not just be dangling there.

Let your head and shoulders relax when you are inverting. You are holding your head up which is preventing you from becoming completely inverted.

Your legs are way to far apart, the closer you can get your legs together the easier it will be go up.
A bigger pole would be very beneficial as well
