Mohammad Asad was born Leopold Weiss in Ukraine, the son of a Jewish barrister and grandson of an orthodox rabbi. In 1926, he converted to Islam and became Muhammad Asad. "The great mistake," he once explained, "is that most of these leaders start with the Hudood [crimnal punishments]. This is the end result of the shari’ah [Islamic Law], not the beginning. The beginning is the rights of the people. There is no punishment in Islam which has no corresponding right."

In his translation of “The Message of The Qur’an” - which is a translation for the thoughtful, who is willing to take a refreshing look - Mohammad Asad gives an interestingly rationalized translation and commentary. He has also written “Islam at the Cross Roads," the whole of which I have read and enjoyed reading; and, I wish every Muslim read it, especially the youth.

His book is very beautiful and emotional in every aspect. Makes you realize a lot about middle east and religions than you can ever imagine.

Muhammad Asad was possibly the closest most influential man in the 20th century to truly understand Islam.

His translation and commentary of the Quran is highly controversial among fundamentalists as it is very reformist or as i say, more traditional in that Prophet Muhammads interpretation of the Quran is discovered by Asad.

The movie explains and goes into more details on this topic of interpretation and translation of the Quran.

@ahmed4y4n Oh yes I agree, his commentary on the Quran is probably one of the best I've seen, and it helped me give me along with Khaled Abou El Fadl my understanding of Islam I have today, Muhammad Asad was a great man, we need more scholars like him, to bring out what Islam really is, I've been Muslim for almost 7 years, I would've left it earlier after I hung out with the Salafi crowd which I nearly lost my faith because of them but I discover the thoughts of Asad and Fadl it really helped me

where can i find this movie? This will be interesting because Muhammad Asad is considered one of the greatest gift of Islam to modern age of Europe. He translates Quran, and he has been speaking to Europe and the west world about the misunderstanding between the west and Islam.

He's also one of the initiator for Pakistan Islamic Nation and UN ambassador.

Not so many people know that he has give so many fundamental steps for Europe to embraces Islam in a positive way.

Muhammad Asad is an austrain jew who converted to Islam in the 1920s after he came to a trip to arabia as a journalist he was a friend of many bediuns he wrote the book "the road to mekka" An amazing book about bediouns and lhis ife in the desert at that time which im reading right now

Muhammed Asad was a Jew who converted to Islam & fought as a Mujahideen in the Italian-Libyan war & helped Umer Al Mukhtar's fighters..,.In a 1920's when the entire arab world were scared to help Libya...Muhammed Asad use to take weapons & other supplies into Libya through Egypt....which helped Umar Al Mukhtar's mujahideen to continue fighting against the Italians....Muhammed Asad's name is well known in Libya....
