Prohibition is a war against the PEOPLE,another form of slavery, does any one have eyes to see that the majority of every one needs to wake up! Vote Ron Paul !
@ElinorFitzgerald Marijuana used to be legal, they used it in a verity of things before the paper tycoons thought it would replace timber, so they made a major slander campaign and won.
PBS the only channel left that still kickass.I wish i could say the same thing for history channel but they got way too many dudmb tv shows on there to watch so they lose my respect.
@elveedub yes, I cannot get enough of the juxaposition of popular song with the vintage. the show will be fab, get the martini mix ready before Oct 2,
The song is so perfect for this preview! I love this song. Ken Burns is so awesome. I loved his national Parks series and God in America. But it will be interesting to see the parallels between prohibition and the so-called "war on drugs" which has failed miserably. In fact many consider it to be a war on the poor. I think the two best films that have touched on this issue were "training day" and "American gangster" the latter of which was based on a true story
Its been my experience that people who are against the legalisation of MJ are too stupid to be able to draw a comparison between alcohol prohibition and the mobsters of old and marijuana prohibition and the drug cartels , Those who dont learn from history etc ...
Or those who believe that there's a line to be drawn somewhere in peoples need to self destruct for pleasure (read: drug use, among other things). Allthough that's hardly achievable with forbidding something. It should be achieved by educating people and apply to their intelligence. And that last one makes things a bit tricky since many, unfortunately, aren't well armed in that area.
@SUPerFreakUsa technically, they were making illegal alcohol which had been legal for decades. Marijuana has never been legal (unless you're living in California) and thus is not an ideal parallel
I have been meaning to watch this documentary, but I have not gotten around to it. What is everyone's opinion of it?
On a side note: Love the song.
