There were a few (perhaps only a few) passages in there that reminded me of Steve Hillage. Do you know why that would be, what sort of scales you were using and what scales he uses to get that sounds. Thanks in advance. You're ridiculously good.
I've watched some of your videos and you are really inspirational. I've been playing for about 4 years now and my improv sounds a bit like yours with the bluesy feel. but i'm having trouble breaking out of pentatonic and was wondering how i can achieve the creativity you display in this video. Truly incredible man. thanks
@MattLawton7 Thanks a million man. I think I'll do a video to break down some of the licks in this vid, it's really simple stuff, but it's just muscle memory for me at this stage as I've been doing it for years. I'll show you what scales I add to the pentatonic to extend blues phrases. I'll upload something as soon as I have a bit of time. Thanks for your kind words, it inspires me to keep playing and using YT. M.
I got into the major scales after learning Tesla solos- they use them (I think) in Hang Tough and Little Suzi. I like the attitude it brings and the feeling you get when you put the notes together. Major scales are very satisfying and very easy to learn I reccommend them to those thinking about an instrumental career.
Now about your solos lol I like them (it), they keep the same attitude and show sensetivity and skill at the same time. very nice!!!
It probably isn't. The idea in this vid was to demonstrate my approach to soloing over a 'generic' major chord progression. I was hoping that the focus would be on the 'solo ideas'. I'm sure this riff like many has been used thousands of times as it's really just a 3 chord trick. Cheers.
I know some people are gonna call me lazy, but I really love that riff and it's super difficult for me to figure out, so can you send tabs? (the beginning riff)
I accidentally did this on my bros account, so reply to this account (buhler32) if you've got those tabs, sorry to sound so greedy, but I love that riff xD
Also, that was great that it didn't sound repetative or you weren't just playing fast so we couldn't hear what was going on. It was all new and fun to liten too, thanks!
its funny. to him dragging his fingers just a little bit on a super fast-super melodic run is "a little sloppy". sounds impeccable, but what ever you say.
my goodness you make me want an sg and a twin reverb now..

Great tone and playing. The note choices are excellent, very Shawn Lane/Eric johnson in places, especially the scale runs. Superb

Nice. What major key you`re using?
Obsession225 2 years ago
he is using E mixolydian..
the chord progression is: E, D, A
the D is the flat 7th which makes it mixolydian
ayjayhearse93 2 years ago
Sounds beautiful! I don't think it sounded sloppy at all.

Nice work mate! Great ideas on them solos..
You were a little lost at times.. You can work on tasteful phrases rather than one entire chunk.. =)

Great tone and phrasing, sounds like youv'e listened to Laurie Wisefield from Wishbone Ash? He's one of my favorite players.

Gives me many ideas... mainly that I suck and need to play more often since I honestly couldn't play half the shit you just did lol.
Btw, I failed to hear the "sloppy" in it.
