I almost dropped dead laughing at the angry golf part.... particularily because I feel like I'm going to flip out on some old pretenious rich fucker who's been playing the game for years and will yell on the course at me.
they deserved to get yelled at...they were taking a long time just arguing....i know golf should be relaxing...but it is annoying when people take forever
Remember that Miles and his friend didn't only get yelled at, but the old men became hostile and hit a ball at them first. I know it's annoying when people take forever, but hitting a ball at them is "not cool asshole", as Jack says, lol
oh cool. i'm a striving writer too, so i figured these soliloquies had purpose. that also makes me a bit Pinot myself, per his explanation; i'm a bit better looking though. but poorer, so far. so you make similar insights w ur patients?
no, sadly we don't get any juicy imagery like this nor any eloquent soliloquies. our patients usually just hint at how they were ignored or undermined as a child.
i suspect writers would have got a kick out of sideways
Miles is clinging to life so desperately in the hope of finding someone someday somewhere to share his story. His sadness is so painful that he needs to borrow the sorrow of others to frame the blank canvas of his life. The saddest of all is the man who dies with no one ever knowing him. Like a bubble on a quiet pond, emerge and gone in a flash as it never was. There is no sadder story in the world than a story of a sadness not told.
SIDEWAYS is of my favorite films, too. a near perfect blend of humor and pathos. fantastic script - just listen to Miles talk about the merits of pinot noir. and Paul Giamatti's performance was brilliant and definitely deserved an Oscar. he was robbed!

when he describes Pinot he is obviously describing himself. when she goes on to tell why she likes wine so much, she is describing love.
