just out of curiousity why are you making a game for the Dreamcast why don't you make a game for a system more current like the PS2, XBox, gamecube, XBox 360 etc

It's also for PSP. And the Dreamcast is a very capable console with a pretty large cult following. There have been several homebrew Dreamcast games that have enjoyed a decent amount of success. It's our preference, and we like the Dreamcast.

The fact that you're making the game cross-platform renders the whole issue relatively moot. If you have success on the DC, fantastic! If you have no success on the DC, the PC and/or PSP will take over. The libgyro approach is a good strategy. I certainly hope that you go the extra mile and compile libgyro for Linux and OSX.

Haha, awesome. My server hosting our repositories and project (from my hall closet) is running Kubuntu, so I'll be developing there.

...but really, we're using SDL/OGL, so it probably won't take more than grabbing GCC and compiling (I hope).

Yeah, it shouldn't cause any major problems. My experience has been that I often run into OS-specific anomalies that go away when you fix all the bugs (referring to SDL/OGL).
