This is the best one. Songs just blend perfectly. I can't stop playing this all the time. Just go from 7 to 10 on the album everytime I play it and thats all the time!
i'm glad i resisted the urge to buy the brian wilson presents smile back in 2004. let's face it, brian's vocals ain't what they used to be. having never heard any bootlegs. it was better to hear the original 66/67 sessions fresh for the first time last year (even its unfinished form). it would have been a "far out" concept album if released in early 1967. a much more cohesive album than sgt. peppers. which only the first few and last few songs were "joined together".
I have to agree: It feels proper to listen to all of these in sequence; they build on and answer each other. I really think of the second suite as one "song", and always listen to it as such (and of course, the other suites as well!)
Just magnificent musical art, from a modern day musical genius who was decades ahead of his time.
I love every SMiLE song, even the outtakes (stuff like "He Gives Speeches" and "George Fell Into His French Horn" that gets left out of most bootlegs) but the Second Movement is by far the best part of the album. The songs here just flow into each other so well that it blows me away. Like, you can't just listen to Wonderful without continuing on to A Song For Children and so on. Speaking of which, I believe ASFC is the best instrumental song Brian ever composed by far. Just my 2 cents
@theSuperMetroid I have to agree with you here. I heard this version of "Wonderful" after hearing the one found on the "Classics Selected by Brian Wilson" album. HUGE difference, and this version is much better. But you're right, it's pretty much necessary to listen to the other three songs in this movement. This is my favorite part of the album as well.
This abum is out of context. It would have been more important than Sgt. Peppers had it been released/finished. pity.

With this suite, this inspired masterpiece, Brian has writ finis to the 'Sixties.
Absolutely brilliant combination of music & words.
So well worth waiting for: I now know what "columnated ruins domino" really means, hearing it in context for the first time.
Also, a truly great band, also; seen them thrice. Magnificent IS the word!
