In former Soviet Union, 300m is the minimum effective range of assault rifles and carbines. Below it is SMG's. Higher than it is battle rifle's. This will explain why AKS-47U is a SMG instead of carbine.

The SA80 is not the name of the gun it's the L85. SA80 stands for Small Arms 1980 the program for replacing older weapons in the British Army. By the way, the L85 is shit, it jams a lot, and is only set to be replaced in around 2015 but we don't know what with. Probobly another shit assault rifle.

@tanker882 The ATF considers them pistols, because the came from the factory without a stock to be fire from the shoulder, that way you do not need a Short Barreled Rifle (thats SBR) tax stamp to own a rifle under the standard 26 inches and 16 inch barrel requirement for rifles in the United States, as long as it came from the factory as a 'pistol'. Thats why its legally a pistol.

Why did you say you don't like to shoot the shorter one at the range? The cam compensated for the gun blast and couldn't hear a word of it. I heard everything else fine though. My buddy got a Draco (the newest ones) and I was pretty skeptical when I first saw it at the shop, cuz he looks to me for gun advice I didnt want him to pay $400 for something that was going to fail in 2 months. But I gotta say their reliable. And since it has the regular size handguard and not the super short gas tube.
