  • Tão linda!!! adoro essa música e a voz desse Scott Walker então...ele se não me engano foi um dos componentes do The Walkers da musica Theres no More Corn on the Brasos.

  • Brings back the hubristic exuberance of the joys of yore when being in love was everything.

  • Scott Walker : a teen pin-up with the most distincitive voices of the 60's pop music.

Could listen to his songs for hours.........

  • This version is faster than the album (The Moviegoer) one. But it's stil marvellous.

  • The men's hairstyles look better than the females

  • Scott was about 26 then-Great talent but never came to the states to make it. He stayed in the UK

  • such creepy weird shit. i wonder how comfortable he was coming out and lip synching in front of a crowd like a circus animal.

  • @lockwoodisafaggot: My dear Lockwood, does Scott scare you? There there, he won't hurt you.

  • I HAD NO IDEA HE IS 68. IN FACT UNTIL THIS SONG, I HAD NEVER HEARD OF HIM. IT'S NOIT TRHAT I WAS OUT OF TIOUCH EITHER. I SAW EVERY BIG BAND IN PERSON WE PLAY HERE, AND A FEW MORE--LOL

  • @LIN11831

He´s 68 and still doing interesting things. Nothing to do with this. The man is amazing. I saw him recently producing some shows and I was captivated. What a presence!

  • @LIN11831 For crying out - you've never heard of The Walker Brothers ? You've got to be kidding ? Try 'No Regrets', 'The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore' and 'Make It Easy On Yourself' and I'll bet you've heard these songs before.

  • Happy Birthday Scott - I believe he is 68 today, January 9.

  • Thank you for sharing this wonderful song. It brings me back to my schooldays.

  • The girl @1.41 is in love with Scott, do not blame her his voice is amazingly beautiful, he is gorgeous as well. unlike anyone now they all sound the same.

  • Interesting beautiful voice unlike, not anyone that can match this.

  • An other last and very important thing about him - FOR ONLY those who don' t have the chance to know his very strong and powerfull work until now...-

He ' s major contribution was to let know to the whole english' s word the very famous belgian singer - in french linguage - '' Jacques BREL ''...

  • This man and his so beautifull voice...inspired so many bigs artists, musicians and singers...as David BOWIE, Brian ENO, David SYLVIAN - ex JAPAN -, Jarvis Coker - PULP -, Bono - U2...etc...etc

But '' unfortunately ''...unknown from a big...BIG MAJORITY of people everywhere in the world !!!

In the sixties, in did a big carreer in England with his band '' the Walkers brothers '' and in solo but he' s american - for those who don' t know him at all !!!-

SUCH A HUGE AND BIG INJUSTICE !!!

    jyf

  • where's the "we could be flying" clip from the same show? put it back please.

  • wow

  • Wow, thanks for posting this! People diss Scott's 70s easy listening stuff but with a voice like his you can't go wrong...

  • What album was this on?

  • @skisumo The Moviegoer. out of print.

  • The audience are the dancers of the show

  • I think this audience was hand picked?

There is not one ugly bastard in the pack!

  • wow

  • música linda!

    ele tem uma voz incrível!!!!!

    ;-)

  • Scott Walker had a fantastic voice. I do not think it could ever be duplicated. Went with the times.

  • There was another song from this episode that used to be on YouTube. Where did it go?

  • 1972- I remember that year well. I was 19 years old and guys hair looked better than the females

  • haha, good description!

  • Scott Walker does have a Great voice that fit the times. "Haunting soul" music. I like it and don't like it at the same time?.

It must have felt weird for Scott when this type of music started to fade by the early 70's.

I like to hear a little bit of it here on YouTube, but it actually gives me the creeps.?

  • @boonehawks

i agree - it reminds a litte on Frank Sinatra's "september of my years" songs - classic good but today is another time.

" my death" by Walker and Bowie is well ageless good and Walker voice is great .

  • Perhaps you're a captive of popular culture. While this music doesn't have the mass audience it once did. Streisand, Tony Bennett, and others have done well contiinuing in this style over the succeeding 40 years. Not to mention the royalties flowing into the Sinatra estate. Newcomers Michael Buble and Diana Krall likely weren't even born when Walker performed this.

I don't follow "gives me the creeps". It's not The Twilight Zone theme.

BTW...Henry Mancini is never out of style

  • scott could sing the yellow pages and make it sound good,he was the voice

  • That little smile at the end is just too cute... and distracting. Makes one forget what a truly great singer Scott Walker is.

  • i love this song! i love this voice and i just love the message this song brings to romantic lovers

  • Genius.

  • Yeah Scott is pretty, but not as much as the beautiful oriental woman behind him!

  • @CANARVONKID i think her name was wei wei wong, or wai wai wong .i seem to remember her being a dancer in this type of group set in the 70s 80s

  • @CANARVONKID Aw mate, sorry, she loves Scott. A loves B but B loves C who also loves C ....he he

  • Wow, how wonderful to see this. It's so rare to find footage from Scott from this period. Majestic, other-wordly voice, mastered to perfection.

This clip makes me cringe a little, though; knowing how reclusive he was, he must have felt terribly uncomfortable. Love the shy smile at the end; it just screams 'let me outta here'!

  • I truly truly Love this song...but the clip - its like this guy just showed up to the party and bummed the fuck out of everybody!

  • Please Explain?

  • @Syntox Syntox, you have such a way with words!

I'm sure you are going to go places, and the sooner the better!

  • This man move me to tears...

  • This style of singing reminds me of Andy Williams, who, in my opinion, was one of the greatest singers for this style of music. Scott Walker was effortless.

  • great singer in a beautiful song!

    Thanks for sherring this!

  • Is it my imagination, or does the guy to Scotts right looks totaly infatuated?

  • He probably was....Scott was attractive to both men and women.

  • Great song from his underrated period. Nice wee smile from Scott at the end there. I hope he hooked up with that lovely east asian lady behind him later! Funny if he did.... where is she now i wonder?

  • I'm sure it would have given his life a different slant!

  • That Asian woman sitting behind Scott is stunning!

  • 若いころ、あなたのファンでした。

    また、聞けるとは・・・・

  • Now, I'm 51 still thinking of watching this movie again, but I could not find the material. Thanks for uploading this video. Now, I had Scott Walker, Henry & Monica Mancini in my music collections... but the SUNFLOWER movie is hard to find. Starring Sofia Loren w Marcello Mastroianni. I hope someday I will...

  • Netflix has it. I watched it last night. It is astounding. Everything Is Illuminated with Elijia Wood lifted just about everything from Sunflowers. There are also some hints of Sunflowers in Harold and Maude that Ashby used with the gravesites and daisy flower scenes.

  • Thank you. In what year the movie was? I had seen a diff version of sunflower, a chi movie and the other one was a chi series. Would you pls. elaborate more about neflix, might find what Im looking for. Thanks again.

  • Thank you. In what year the movie was? I had seen chi version of sunflower, a diff story emphasized family ties and love. And also a preview of korean series (if not mistaken) of the same title. A story of ex-con who went back to his hometown where sunflowers were around. Pls. elaborate more about Neflix I dont know it. I might find the version I was looking for. Thanks again.

  • Sunflower 1970 de Sica Marcello Mastroianni Sofia Loren

  • How can I forget this song... and the movie,

"SUNFLOWER". Its been 36 years ago when I

first watched this on t.v. I was only 15 then.

I taught it was just an ordinary movie but in the end, it made me cry. Oh! such a sad love story.

  • What a tremendous find! I had never heard this - Walker-Mancini, a perfect combination.

  • great song..thanks for sharing..5*

  • That bird next to the Scott lookalike with the white dress on has a lovely pair of jugs

  • How very dignified of you.

  • @markie65 I didn't notice actually, the guy next to her got my undivided attention!

  • I loved this song when I first saw this movie on t.v. at 9 years old.....now that I have been through a lot of loss of love, including divorce, I still love it. I have moved on now. I have found a great man!

  • You can see where The Last Shadow Puppets got their inspiration :)

  • he really sings this song so passionately .. Thanks for uploading this classic performer and this song :)

  • Wow, I just adore Scott's voice. This is a really special song - thanks thecatkeaton:-) I had such a crush on this guy in the 60's:-) I still go weak listening to him with Gary and John (The Walker Brothers):-)

  • I had only heard this song as an instrumental. I had no idea who this guy was. He had a really great voice. I love this song.

  • superb - he didn't know how good he was

  • there are no words to describe this performance,a talent like this cannot be learned, you have to be born with it,Scott Walker, a racehorse grazing in a field full of donkeys.

  • yeah of course but don't arse kiss. It's very unbecoming.

  • Another Youtube comment you made with a similar ring...

    samephantomxr:

Scott Walker, A MUSICAL GENIUS ,in a room, full of tone deaf cretins.AND HE IS NOT GAY!!

  • How interesting, a personal friend of SW. Well, you must be to make such a BOLD statement ("AND HE IS NOT GAY!!"). As you're so pally, could you tell us his reactions to criticism of his current work. Criticism such as...

Engel's "MUSICAL GENIUS" is stranded in time; somewhere in a 1970 Bayswater loft. The pompous tedium of 'The Drift' may work "in a room full of tone deaf cretins" but devotees of his perfectly formed 60's masterworks may weep... or giggle.

Did he react badly or... agree?

  • I could listen to this song over and over.Great voice.Thank you...

  • What a voice, this is a gem of a clip, how mortified he must have been to perform in this fashion...

  • I think this was during his heavy drinking phase, which probably explains it. Still, fantastic voice.

  • David Bowie, Brian Eno, and a host of others worshipped this guy. He was an ex-pat american that hit it big in England in the 60's with The Walker Bros. Bowie produced the recent Scott Walker Documentary.. 30th Century Man.

  • hmm scott walker. best retro artist there is:)

    really love his work.

nice break from all my hiphop

  • Gorgeous song...one I'd never heard before. Godddamn I love Scott Walker...

  • Quelle belle voix de crooner servie par une musique fantastique merci Mancini

  • Scott Engel can sing anything the same as he sang 'Joanna' in Tokyo so long ago.

  • I just found a "new" and interesting artist! Lovely voice! Have to get his music!

  • check out the film about him "30th century man". there is a great 5 disk cd comp called "5 easy pieces". check him out, you'll soon be lost in a strange new world!

  • That looks incredible - he looks great - the people around him look great - he SOUNDS great. Geez!

  • UNBELIEVABLE. Thank you SO much. I have to wonder: did Sinatra ever sound so beautifully perfect and magical? This stops me cold when I see it. Pure sublimity. xoxoxoxo

  • He had everything.Wonderful voice,youth and beauty.

  • Did you work for the Beeb?

  • Scott can even make the 70s look classy!

  • Scott can even make the 70s look classy!

True - and that is an achievement!

  • Some one must have "we could be flying" from the same show. Would love to see that also.

  • Incredible voice man!

  • wow! brilliant, I didn't even know this existed

  • where did you get this???????????? This is great! Thank you!

  • Last comment, for an official dvd...on 10th September the dvd Scott Walker 30th Century Man is released this one is official, has interviews with Scott on it, and was partly filmed when he was in the studio making The Drift, it has Scott's full approval and royalties go to all the right people!

  • Anyone looking for Scott dvd's should be aware that there are no official dvds they are all bootleg ,despite what anyone might tell you. There are a lot of people out there selling poor quality videos and dvd's with compilations of Scott and the Walker Brothers. A lot of these are interesting, but it really annoys me that people make money from them, they own no copyright and no royalties go to the artists or the filmmakers at the time.

  • I have gotten copies of most of these DVDs you speak of for free, and that's why I have tried to share what is not out on youtube, hopefully to dissuade folks from buying from "bootleggers". I doubt an official compilation of such footage would ever become available, so if it can be shared freely, so much the better.

Rant over: wow! this is great footage that I have never seen! I wonder if there is more out there? Surely SOMEBODY in the world has video of the Scott Walker Show from the BBC!!

  • Very talented man! Why he did not make the U.S. his main base instead of England I will never know. Until I saw this tape I had never heard of Scott Walker, but now I know who he is. There is not a huge body of his work. Why I do not know but I will say this, thanks to You Tube for introducing us to past great musicians

  • "There is not a huge body of his work."

    You gotta be joking, Creolelady!

  • I don´t believe it!! It´s amazing, perfect, sublime. Thank you for posting!

  • Amazing! Thank you for having posted this.

  • Canção lindíssima - coisa de gênio - Henry Mancini. Voz belíssima - interpretação sensível - Scott Walker.

  • I am a MASSIVE Scott Walker fan, and I have never seen this before. Thank you so much you kind, kind soul. Simply amazing.

  • Why , after "the drift" one SCOTT 5? but is this voice the same impact ?

  • Wow, never seen this before. Thx for posting!

  • SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!There I was everyweekend,I'm about 6 or 7 years old.Instead of watching SESAME STREET.I will watch this movie,SUNFLOWER,over and over again on old movie station.I remember myself, crying and crying over and over again specially at the ending scene where She sees him leave aboard a train.GREAT SONG..GREAT MOVIE..I LOVE YOU Sophia LOREN.

  • I listen each day , what voice, charm, dream etc...

  • brilliant what more can i say

  • It's criminal no official dvd exists of Scott Walkers television programmes. Such beauty.

  • Are you implying unofficial DVDs of the shows exist? I thought they were all lost.

  • Well, yes and no. Go to this site for more info -

    scottwalker(dot)org(dot)uk

  • CAN I find SCOTT'S videos from this BBC show in the 68and 69? thanks answering. Saint Hermine
